I hear that the wild card for this year's Grand Prix in Terenzano will not be an Italian, but a neighbour from the East...
It's official now, Zagar goes wild in Terenzano: http://speedwaygp.com/news/article/467/zagar-goes-italian

Thanks, Anders, for this great report, you saved me from doing it.
I think we saw quite a good meeting and these little riders (we joked that they can't have more than 30 kilos each
) really showed some great and competitive racing. There were fast, they were aggresive and they never gave up. There was a lot of elbowing in the first corner, also some riders leaning on others, which showed that it really meant a lot to them and that they all wanted to win it. Pawlicki was a deserved winner in the end, I think, as he was very very fast.
The weather forecast proved to be correct with 34+ degrees and those of us who could not stay in the shade got a nice little sun tan.
Despite the boiling heat we managed to prepare a good, safe track and the starting positions were pretty equal (which is not usually the case in Ljubljana). Gate 1 had 35% of the heat wins, gate 2 25%, and gate 3 and 4 both 20%.
I knew Anders was in Ljubljana and I really hoped to meet him. I was so busy I didn't have time to try and find him before the meeting, but then after the meeting, when we were waiting for the last jury meeting, my brother comes to me and tells me that someone is looking for me. And there was Anders.
It was really great to have a little chat with you, mate. Would be great to talk to you some more and have a beer or two, but the last jury meeting didn't finish until after 9 pm so it wouldn't make any sense if I told you to wait for me. But I'm sure we'll meet again in the future. I hope you had a great time in Ljubljana and Slovenia.
Some photos from the meeting are available here (including photos of me, in case someone else wants to put a face to my name, too

Promising information.
I guessed that the practise was on Friday, so just to be sure not to miss that, I booked a flight to arrive on mid day on Thursday. I'll come around to the stadium on Friday for sure.
Anders, you were worried about a possible postpoenment of the meeting in Ljubljana. I can now totally calm you down. We will have a nice and sunny day on Saturday, with a pleasant 32 degrees.

If everything goes as planned, we will have LIVE UPDATES available from Saturday's U19 European championship final in Ljubljana!

Went through yesterdays results this morning and dug up the UEM papers from las year that showed allocations. Seinäjoki was supposed to get 4+1 through, but with no hosting fed rider it was gonna be 3+1 according to Annexxe II, dated November 30th. Any idea when this changed, anyone...
Yes, I have that PDF document and I thought the same as you. But in UEM Track Racing rules (available here: http://uem-moto.eu/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=Q8QLxXBJQ90%3d&tabid=186) on page 6 it says that 4+1 qualify from semifinals 1 and 2.

Wozniak replace Kacpera. And who replace Wozniaka? Roman Cejka? Or Russian rider Borodulin become first substitute rider?
My guess would be Cejka. I'll let you know when we get the official confirmation.

For anyone who plans to come to Ljubljana next saturday, AMTK Ljubljana has prepared a special website with the most important information about the meeting. Here is the link: http://www.amtk.si/speedway/ep-mladinci-finale-2011
The website is in Slovene only, but you can use some translation website to translate it to your language. I've checked Google Translate and Slovene-English translation is surprisingly good.
UEM has made the ballot for this meeting. Last three places will be known this Saturday after Scandinavian semifinal round in Seinajoki.

Another question about the U19 final;
When is the start time on the first reserve date (Sunday)? If that's needed, heaven forbid...
(Adria Airways cancelled my Monday flight back home, and wants to put me on the Sunday flight instead, but I must be sure I'm able to catch the meeting if it's postponed on Saturday...)
The start time on Sunday will be 16:00, as it is on Saturday. But worry not, the weather will be ok.
I don't remember a meeting being postponed in Ljubljana in the last 10 or 15 years. What can happen is some short downpour or a storm, but it usually goes away in about an hour or so. So I think at worst we can get a short delay.
When are you arriving in Ljubljana? On Friday I guess? If you want, you can join us at the track on Friday afternoon and we can have a chat/beer.

With Slovenia having one guaranteed in the final, is it true that only 3 riders advances from the Nordic qualifier in Finland on July 2nd? That's how I interpret the supplementary regulations on UEM's website anyway, but I must admit that only 3 places from the Nordic round sounds too little in comparison to what the remaining European countries have the possibilities to ride for...
Just curious.
Yes, it's 3+1 from Seinajoki. I agree with you, it should be 3 riders from one of the other semifinals.
By the way, any idea who is riding in the Nordic round?
-
tomas p,a little correction. Nr 8 in Gorican is Jonas DavidssOn not Davidsen.
Sorry, but not my fault. I just copy pasted it from FIM press release.
5 from each of the 3 semi-finals.Final is at Vetlanda Sweden on the 20th August.Persumably last rider in final will be decided after the semi`s-if no Swede qualifies then one will be seeded.
It's 6 from semifinal 1 (Daugavpils) and 5+1 from semifinals 2 (Lonigo) and 3 (Gorican). If no Swede qualifies, then it's just 5 from Daugavpils.

Hay mate can you please me with finding some video footage from the 21s at Croatia in english , thanks
I don't think anyone was filming the meeting. I only recorded a couple of heats with my camera, as I was too busy cheering for our riders and also entertaining the local girls.
-
Well i did hear from a very good source that a certain Austrian rider is now riding as an Italian in the hope that he gets the WC!!!
You mean Manuel Hauzinger?
)
-
Easy win for Darcy in that one. Was there any crowd there, or isn't speedway as popular over there?
I took this video from the grandstand, where the majority of people were so you can't see them in the video. I'd say around 500-1000 people attended yesterday's meeting and the atmosphere was quite good. Speedway is quite popular in Croatia, especially because of Jurica Pavlic, and now also because of their new hope, Dino Kovacic.

Sorry, my mistake. No, he didn' ride in heat 1. He was a reserve and replaced Cvetko when the Croatian retired from the meeting after the heat 1 crash.
