  1. I tend to agree with Waco. The bottom end at the Raiders is weak compared to most of the other sides in the league who also have rookies in their sides and from what I have seen some of the lads are long way off being consistent scorers in the NL (a lot of their points have been from others misfortune & beating each other) let alone PL riders of the not so distant future. However even though that could change i don't think it will be for a considerable while. These lads need track time, good equipment etc. These are not things easy to come by. However...The three heat leaders are incredibly strong & there are obviously high hopes for George but unfortunately he seems to miss a lot of meetings through injury. Although I think the other lads may have been thrown in too early(and one into the difficult no. 2 race jacket) it's easy to forget that Danyon was originally part of the plans. With that as a top 5, especially with way that Danyon has been riding, the Raiders would have been having a very different season.
  2. Need someone other than than the two heat leaders to step up.
  3. Does anyone know if the old temp stand is now complete? There doesn't seem to have been much change to it since the start of the season but the view from there isn't great. So much about speedway is what happens in and around the first bend but the only decent view of it seems to be if you're standing on the tractor.
  4. I was surprised that I didn't notice improvements in the stadium considering we hadn't ridden there for five weeks. Even the junior track seems to have remained the same.
  5. Please be aware of disruptions to the rail service today. https://www.abelliogreateranglia.co.uk/travel-information/service-alterations?details=2083&month=7&year=2016
  6. I've just noticed that the rail services are disrupted today. Details here... https://www.abelliogreateranglia.co.uk/travel-information/service-alterations?details=2083&month=7&year=2016
  7. A tough days work for Rye facing arguably the two best teams in their respective leagues.
  8. Make up of the Raiders team was wrong from the start of the season. Whilst I understand the long term plan is to develop riders for the Rockets the team this year doesn't really do that. Ben is already a Rocket, Rob could/should have been a Rocket & Luke isn't PL level. The other lads, with the exception of George, are not NL level yet. George is still very raw as he only got into side towards the end of last year & could have done with starting at reserve if possible instead of the second string role. However in fairness to the promoters losing Danyon made a huge difference to how this team worked out this year.
  9. Neither can I mate. Have to hope that we learn from it in time for next season. Neither can I mate. Have to hope that we learn from it in time for next season.
  10. Imo we need to strengthen the reserve berth so that we have a rider capable of scoring/taking 7 rides (like Kasper showed). Apart from Eddie & Ben the others have been inconsistent so we need to try to counteract that inconsistency. I don't think Rob can do that at PL level.
  11. Not just competing with the football tonight but the sgp as well. Maybe a Sunday Raiders match would have been a better option for this weekend.
  12. That's poor. I'm surprised as the FB posts have been very good
  13. I've seen blue grooves at Mildenhall & Kent this week. Neither match was a double header.
  14. I think we'd struggle to strengthen the lower end without sacrificing one of the top 2 & that's not worth doing. Pity we couldn't keep hold of Danyon as he had an average below 4 but could end up averaging 9 soon. Just that one position would have made this team very different. The improvement Olly Allen & the Poultec course has had on the riders involved is very encouraging.
  15. I love the NL & last year the side was the best thing about Rye but this year we've basically got three heat leaders and a MDL side. I've seen a lot of the NL teams this year and am not sure that there are any that our bottom end will out score.
  16. 46-44 to Kent. Cracking ride by Bowen to take Halsey on the line.
  17. I think it's because he rides our track quite well. He hasn't had a great start to the season but would be picking up points that Karger isn't & so it would be an improvement. As Branford is in the Raiders he would seem an obvious replacement but he has never really kicked on at PL level either. I agree that we probably could do with more than one change but I'm not sure who is available.
  18. The way it's going for him he'll never get another team spot here & so the gamble not to race more back in Denmark may have backfired in a big way.
  19. A few of those points have come when someone had failed to finish otherwise it would be lower. The PL is a tough league and I can't see how struggling this much in almost every race, including the reserve heats, is helping the lad.
  20. Sunday evening racing makes this a no show from me but hopefully the boys will get a win. Nice to see Mac getting a run in the team. The Poultec course seems to have really helped him along.
  21. Good luck to all involved in the running of this meeting tonight.
