Wild Cards For 09
srbramble replied to beesbarmyarmy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Seems they couldn't do without the brits. Scotty was nailed on IMO, but Bombers' inclusion baffles me. As I mentioned a while ago, they lure of the cash generated by having the brits in, especially for Cardiff, got him his place. Now argue with that. -
Can Nicki Get 6?
srbramble replied to home straight's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not if he wants respect he doesn't. Children tend to use this attitude to win, therefore, make your own mind up what I think of adults who use the same philosophy. All the best Steve -
Niether country have got the draw of a 50,000 attendance GP, with ticket prices up to £75. Nothing to do with nationality at all, only money, and you are very niaive to miss that point. If they decide to ever reduce the amount of GPs, then the British GP would be the last one to go, as it is by far the biggest money spinner of them all. Slovenia and Czech Rep. will go LONG before Cardiff. To me, that is the importance of having a Brit in the series over any other nationality when picking wildcards. It is probably due to Britain having the biggest GP, that the rest of europe find hard to swallow.

Oh yes, Czech Republic and Slovenia, those 2 hotbeds of world speedway. You missed the main point completely.

Can Nicki Get 6?
srbramble replied to home straight's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Nicky doesn't possess enough integrity to deserve 6 world titles. Great rider, who is a major player in speedway, but has tricks in his locker that a true legend wouldn't. -
I make my call based soley on financial purposes. I agree that there is a need to introduce new blood, as there is nobody capable of winning apart from maybe 5 riders, and the also rans this season, have done zip to enhance the series. Qualifying needs to be changed in order for the GPs not to stagnate by having the same riders in it. Personally, I really don't care if Scott, or any other brit is in it, all I want to see is exciting racing. But, as money is the name of the game, IMO, the FIM? will see it as bad business if they leave him out. I did suggest a while ago, that the FIM? introduce an Under 21 GP series to run alongside the senior GPs. Smaller field, Less heats and maybe run on the permanent tracks only, say, 1 GP in all the major speedway nations, with the winner taking an automatic senior GP spot. Surely some interest in something like that.
-
The GP series will always need a brit in it, otherwise thousands of true british fans will have nobody to cheer on in Cardiff, and the FIM know that. Therefore, as Scott is still the best brit out there, I fully expect him to get a pick. Harris on the other hand, has had his chance, and its time for another to take his place, and not neccessarily a brit either. Congratulations to the new World Champion, as much as it pains me to say it.

Gelsenkirchen Off !
srbramble replied to smartace's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just about the most rediculous tale ever in our sport, taking speedway to an all time low. -
Good to see a GP in oz, where the sport started. Why not have it as the first GP instead of the last. Could have it towards the end of the season in oz, and the riders not already in the country, could go early and race in a few meetings before hand, to get their eye in.

Thats not an insult, thats a fact. You'd miss me if I wasn't here.
-
Have you bothered to read any of the posts, or have you got a beef just with me? Your constant, very tiresome digs say you have. Take time out to read the beginning of the "debate", then make a stab at saying something interesting. Women.
-
Was it really? Of course it was an insult, otherwise why put " a poor mans Sub"? Suggests an insult to me, and no amount of backtracking by you says otherwise. Which makes you no better than anyone else, so no need to get on you high horse. If you want to trade out and out insults, then I'm not going to indulge you, but if you want an intelligent debate on our sport, then lets go. But then again, as I suspect, you can't do intelligent.
-
Wrong fool. Apologies. All you cov fans all look the same to me.
-
Can you read? Where did I say I think Tai should be in the GPs? My comments are on your disregard of his achievements, nothing else. You rant and rave on like a fool. Just viewed your profile picture. Got the impression that you were much younger than that.
-
Rude? Thats nothing pal. And you follow up your point, with an insult to me. Now, you ARE an idiot.
-
Dear oh dear. Unfortunately, you are mistaken there, me old china. It is indeed yourself, who makes statements without qualifying your argument, whereas, if you look at my reasoning in this debate, you will find that at least I can back my opinion up with decent points. And, many more agree with me on this subject, than you. Night night.
-
If I was five, then maybe I would be biased, but I am actually a rare fan who isn't biased towards his own team and riders. I just feel he is getting some unfair criticism from some, when he has no control over this hype he gets. Some people just don't like the lad, its obvious. But to suggest his achievements this season are nothing special, is rediculous. But it is Sunday, and its raining, so I guess a few are bored and just want to argue. Kids.
-
What is your problem? He performed better for his country than your 2 track specialists, both british. You also compare him to very exceptional talents, which is slightly unfair, considering the experience both riders have compared to Tai. Idiot. If anything, it is the content of your post, that suggests you don't have a clue.
-
No, not many at all, and both are foreigners. Tais' record speaks for itself. I guess youre just ignorant.
-
Nothing to do with him being a wolves asset, is it?! Idiot.
-
Not a good night for Tai, but I hardly feel it is reason for the cynicism. There aren't many who have achieved as much in one season as he has. My personal opinion, is that he has been over-hyped this season, but it is only because of the british desperation for some success. He isn't the best gater, something which he is aware of, and sometimes his over exuberence results in too many falls, but you'll be hard pushed to find many who don't enjoy watching him race and believe he won't reach his potential.

England V Australia At Under 23 Level!
srbramble replied to Trees's topic in International World of Speedway
Well done to the aussie boys. Looked good for England up until the last 2 heats. A bit disappointed, but there you go. Australia should now go on and win the series. Hope Doyley is fit for tonight. Any news by the way? -
England V Australia At Under 23 Level!
srbramble replied to Trees's topic in International World of Speedway
Those 3 are strong no doubt, if you compare them with Tai, Wright and Bridger. But the others don't look too special, so if the rest can outscore the aussies remaining riders, it will be close. I'll still take the English! -

Good luck to Rob Mear tomorrow. Jason King, on current form, is a good inclusion too. C Chris Holder is only one man. He can't ride in all the heats. England again for me. -

The Scunthorpe management were very vocal on this subject, a few weeks back. Because of Tais' Rye/scunny connection, it was thought it was going to be their biggest crowd of the season. Apparently, the word is, that he will be riding at Scunthorpe on the 12th, as the GB team manager(I think), stated that they never intended to take riders out of meetings, that clashed with the test matches. Don't take my word for it, but thats how I understood the situation. However, it would help the fans, if it was confirmed, one way or another.
