Thank you Brian, I stand corrected. I was but a young girl when speedway was taken from perry barr in the mid 80's and was obviously not as involved as you and others to eventually bring it back almost at the start of my 4th decade of life. Something for which I am grateful and thank you for. Be good if they (the council and birchfield harriers) could be persuaded to have GP speedway (or any speedway)in 'the park', but I reckon it'll take until at least my 7th/8th decade of life to persuade them! Fingers and toes crossed in the meantime.

Do you know much about Birmingham Council? It took Tony Mole 21 years to persuade them to allow domestic speedway in a stadium lots may call its 'ancestral home'. The Alexander stadium rebuild has cost the earth and the locals have lost a great park too. So I very much doubt they'd allow those dirty smelly noisy bikes anywhere near it....unfortunately. Unless someone can persuade them that lots of of troublef free ££££'s are likely to flow into the hotel and transport systems......hmmm could be something in it, but they'd have to be talking big bucks for the council I'd suspect.

Yes. Also there will be a lot of road closures in the area whenever the other stadium is in use which would make access to and from the speedway slightly more difficult than usual.
-
Yet you continie to moan, and 'Joke' about the situation and do not support your team or your friends who have tried so hard to keep Birmingham going. Hope you and others similar to are proud.

The M6 junction is/was closed from Monday to Thursday this week. Should be back to normal next Wednesday.

Birmingham v Leicester 01.05.22

You can now access one stop more easily approaching from junction 7 and the a34. You can turn right now into one stop at the end of the a34 where the flyover was. It is easier to get in and out of one stop and easier to walk to the stadium. -
I forgot about the 46! I think it may still run. As you were! Lol.

You may be better to get a taxi from Hamstead Station? There are diamond buses that do go through to West Bromwich that will drop you not far from the hotel, but I am not sure how frequent they are. The other number 16 buses terminate at Green Lane and the hotel is still quite a walk from there.

I know beggars can't be choosers, but I doubt very much such a signing would go down too well with the brummie faithful!

Torun GP 2nd - 3rd October
S4r4h replied to H20's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Hi. I have 2 tickets for Torun on the Saturday. We've decided to give it a miss. However I am struggling to get any response from Torun about a possible refund. So, if anyone would like to buy two tickets without the hassle of navigating theTorun website...let me know! -
When we got a ticket we contacted one stop to advise why we were there and she agreed to contact the car parking company on our behalf. The matter was resolved thereafter.

You can park at the stadium for £2.50-£3.00 to the GRA, or you can park for free in the one stop shopping centre where the old stadium used to be. It's just a short walk over the road from one stop. There is a 4 hour parking restriction but they allow longer for speedway spectators.
-
You can park in the main stadium car park and the entry point is from the car park. The GRA charge £3 I think to park there. You can park for free at the one stop shopping centre but that will be a walk across the main roads and may not be suitable for someone who cannot walk far.

Brummies v Tigers, Scottish edition 3/7.
S4r4h replied to Col's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It was apparently Erik Gundersen's recommendation. -
There is a Travelodge about half a mile from the stadium near to Perry park. It's actually opposite Wickes (sandicliffe ford garage, may be Bristol st now?). i would imagine there is parking at the hotel. It will take you 5-8 mins to walk to the stadium from the hotel depending on how quickly you walk. £16.50 in to see the match and £3? a programme? See you in July!

Ah well he wasn't and we did -
As irritating it was having the initial delay, I think all of the riders coped well and from where I was standing (first bend, somewhere I'm not used to watching from) there appeared to be less movement at the start and most races went off first time. Well done to all given the conditions.

According to Official Birmingham Facebook page, its off.

Its the Jason Lyons line! Hence why Tom wears similar kevs, perhaps! Liking the NL a lot. Crowd level tonight was I think better than at EL and if they can be sustained at tonights level hopefully all will be ok.
