  1. I wouldn't know... it's just the way it is set up. The Moore Park Page was also a group, but there is currently a new one under construction which is an actual Page for the public. http://www.facebook.com/Mooreparkmotorcylespeedway?fref=ts I think the group part is mainly aimed at the riders, officials and like minded people as they can then get application forms etc added to the group also.
  2. I think it's more a case of it being a 'group' rather than a 'page' on Facebook which means it can not be viewed so easily. A more in-depth look at the rules for you: INTERPROVINCIAL SOLO TEAMS COMPETITION RULES & REGULATIONS OVER VIEW / GENERAL 1. A teams challenge competition consisiting of a home and an away match for each team 2. Teams gain points for their finishing position in the match to accumulate to a final tally. The team with most points at the end of the competition is the competition’s winnning team. 3. Each team will present five (5) team members chosen from a pool of eight (8) SNZ licenced riders to compete in each match. A number six (6) rider (reserve) may also be used as described below 4. The eight (8) pool members from each province will be ranked in order from 1 to 8 and registered with the competition co ordinators/adjuicators. Riders may only be chosen from the registered list for each match. 5. The competition will be overseen by co-ordinators Rick Lang and Mike Provost who will also act as adjudicators. Their decision will be final. Either one or both will be present at each match. They may appoint any person to act in their place should either be unable to attend. 6. All competition announcements will be directly from the competition co-ordinators only 7. After notification from the team managers, teams for each match will be approved and officially announced only by the competition co-ordinators at the same time. Speedway New Zealand rules and regulations will be adhered to throughout the match with any modifications listed with in these competition rules. MATCH RULES TEAM MAKEUP 9. Riders 4 & 5 are the only riders that maybe interchanged during the match except for otherwise mentioned in these rules. 11. No rider may have more than six (6) or less than three (3) rides (excepting injury) in any match. 12. Teams may also have a 6th (sixth)rider present at the match. This rider maybe used during the match only to replace an injured rider who cannot continue racing in the match. Rider six (6) may take the place of the injured rider or rider 4 or 5 if these are used as the replacement, bearing in mind the maximum number of rides reserves are allowed. The 6th (sixth) rider must be ranked lower than the match heat leaders and may only have a maximum of three (3) rides in the match. Once an injured rider has been replaced and the 6th rider used, the rider replaced cannot return to the match. The league co ordinator must approve the replacement and the opposing team notified of the 6th rider replacement. 13. I f a team has not arrived with a number six (6) rider, the host team may provide a rider to fill this role. In this case the rider used doesnot have to be a registered rider with the competition, but the competition co-ordinator must be advised and approve. TEAM MANAGER 14. 3. Technically he has also included the results from the meetings which hadn't all been posted also The Moore Park meetings have certainly shown a difference to some of the riders in regards to team riding v individual riding. This can only be good for their development as riders
  4. More info on the league can be found at: http://www.facebook.com/groups/1374323619481353/
  5. Whilst I've never actually seen either ride, as we all know with Speedway circumstances will change and opportunities will happen. Just make sure Conor uses this as that extra bit of determination to make the next step up. I'm sure as the season progresses there will be the opportunity that comes his way (hopefully at Coventry being a local lad), with the determination to prove the selectors wrong he will hopefully then take the chance with both hands Rather than taking it as a big kick in the teeth, take it as a minor set back which can be rectified
  6. Is Ryan not partly Kiwi? If I remember correctly he certainly learnt a lot of his trade in New Zealand, and I did wonder where he had gone to as hadn't heard him about the last couple of seasons...... So technically this post contradicts a lot of what you have already said! However, I do agree that the National League should be about promoting and assisting British Youngsters..... If someone has British Partiality then they should be allowed to race, but is there a way to say they need to commit to GB? even if only for a set number of years.... If they are not selected in that time then they are free to race elsewhere
  7. Cheers Main Man... I thought the rules had changed to something like that but wasn't sure....
  8. What are the rules on foreign riders for the NL? There are a couple of young Kiwi's that would be worth a few clubs having a look at if it was allowed....
  9. A Thread for the NZ GP has been set up on the following link..... http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=71427&st=0
  10. I'd just noticed this date and am actually gutted as I'll be back in the UK for family weddings.... mmmmmmm wonder if someone fancies moving their wedding

  12. I know this will not be the right thread, but more likely to hit the targetted audience... does anyone in NZ know if or when the highlights of Saturday's GP will be shown on Sky Sports? I've had a quick look through the guide but can't find it!
  13. We get into Auckland Friday afternoon so can't wait..... At least it's only a domestic flight to do... know of a few guys coming up from Christchurch... some that haven't been to Speedway for years.... and I mean years!!! Also introducing the better half to GP Speedway after getting her interested at Brandon last year on our trip over
  14. That is definately the correct times as for this week only the time difference is 12 hours..... come Sunday though for us it becomes 11 hours! Original long range forecast was rain...... however, the forecast I've just looked at for Auckland is sunny.... so hopefully that one stays Looking forward to getting up there for some action
  15. Shame Andrew Aldridge wasn't able to get himself fit in time to take his place at reserve, but I'm sure it will be great experience for Sean
  16. I was gonna say it doesn't always rain... but then this weekend in Christchurch all we've had is erm rain!
  17. Yeah I heard that one, bit silly really. Surely should be a worldwide rule
  18. I totally understand in that situation emotions were high, and as I said once he calmed down again he set about the business well and rightfully earnt his place in the final.... there has definately been a lot more shown. It was definately Grant that was first to roll into the tapes, Godfrey was indeed in the race off gate 3, and could have then touched the tapes himself that set Ryan off who was the one that looked more obvious by it all. It was pointed out that Ryan was the one to go initially, but via the radio the ref then informed the other officials it was Grant who was then removed from the race. I'm not trying to make out that Grant is a cheater, and in terms of New Zealand racers he is one of the professionals both in terms of set up and his approach. This was not the only race though he was moving at the start, whether he was just trying to pre guess the tapes of what, but it was definately not just the 1 heat
  19. Erm I can't remember..... from in the box I do remember that the 1st lap was a good one with it looking like Grant was going to push Jason all the way, but once Jason rounded him it was 1 way traffic.... edit: Forgot to add that when Grant and Jason met, Grant clearly rolled into the tapes before Ryan Moss went through them. All of us in line with the tapes saw it, as the ref did too, but I'm not sure what it looked like from elsewhere.... is there anyone able to comment on if it could be seen from elsewhere in the stadium? For Grant to then gesture towards the ref was a bit silly, but once he calmed down he set about his business well to earn the direct spot into the final... he tried to roll and just happened to get caught
  20. We are indeed in the future.... So the GP will be Saturday morning UK time ... oh well won't affect me as I'll be there watching
  21. Oh no it won't as the UK will have had their clocks go forward by then.... luckily NZ clocks don't change until the day after the GP, so would get confusing if rained off on the Saturday as times would be completely different the next day
  22. Sorry hadn't seen this reply as when I last posted my computer didn't take it to this page! From what I have seen the Kiwi riders certainly didn't have the issue out of the gate, sometimes the 1st corner looked like they may have backed out a little in certain situations, but on the whole from my perspective it was more a case of trying to overtake and force their way through into a higher position. The big difference here, other than obvious experience and track time, is probably down to the fact that near enough all, if not all, of the Kiwi riders do this more as their hobby at the moment.... this means to pay the bills etc they are having to work a lot more outside of the sport. This could be something at the back of their minds at times too. I certainly know of a rider who has had to think about going to certain meetings because of affording the time off, and here-in is where the big difference lays. Having said all that the commitment and riding shown yesterday in the NZ Final I thought was a big step up from some of the riders so well done to those that have used the experiences against the International Riders and started to implement it in their own racing One big story that has come out of New Zealand yesterday though was that NZ will not be represented by 6 time National Champion in the NZ Grand Prix, Jason Bunyan any more........ they will be represented by 7 times National Champion, Jason Bunyan instead
  23. I was reading a Speedway star that was sent over from start of January yesterday and it has those results in... I will try and find later when I get home from work and see what details are in it
