He was "used" as a reserve and developed a falsely high average whereupon he could neither get a place in an EL team or drop down to PL [NL] He kept the diabetes very much under control. Having been recently diagnosed with it I hope that I can do the same.

Many thanks Norbold. It was very much appreciated.
-
Norbold I would be most grateful. When Gordon crashed at Arlington he was concussed and when he came to he thought he was at White City.
-
Well each to our own but I have seen Gordon going around the outside at Arlington on many occasions. Yes Shazzy last time I saw him I did not think he had aged at all.
-
I remember Gordon well with Keith Pritchard following him home for a 5-1. Sad how he was treated at the end of his career though.

Well done Jason !! Glad to see you made it -
RIP Squibby.

It was 1992 ! I am glad my brain is still working a bit. It must have been 1993 when Andrew was at Coventry in an Eagles v Bees match and retired. What a loss to speedway. This thread has brought back some happy memories for me.
-
Andrew was at Eastbourne sometime between 1989 and 1992 i think but cannot remember exactly when. I think Len was involved in the promotion team at the time.
-
A great video clip Grachan that brought memories back of the old Andy Silver.
-
He last rode for Eastbourne at Coventry after coming back from a bad injury at the end of the previous season. He could not hack it and announced his retirement. He was replaced by Stefan Anderssen. He was very popular at Eastbourne.

It seems most Travel Lodges will allow a dog to stay [ but not all ] but Travel Inns will not unless it is a guide dog. Strange but true. Many hoteliers in Eastbourne will accept a dog unless it is noisy. So there you are Paw Print. Boycott Travel Inns. -
I guess it will be a while before all becomes clear, if ever.

For Eastbourne you have the Travel Lodge at Hellingly by Boship Roundabout on the A22 or the Travel Inn in Eastbourne. Or there are numerous b & bs. If you would like a list try the links below http://www.eastbournehotel.com/ http://www.4hotels.co.uk/uk/eastbourne.html -
You obviously have not been to Arlington ! You can smell them from the road.
-
There is a rumour that they are subject of re furbishment this winter ! I will have a sniff next time I go by !
-
Yes the stadium is down to the Dugards. They have added to terracing each year for last two years. I am just guessing that this will be continued. I know they are tackling the toilets block adjacent to the pits.
-
Well I would expect the extra terracing to continue from the Grand stand straight and join up with that on the fourth bend. It is only a guess on my part but as I said the terracing has been extended during the last two winters. TR may have other plans. As I said I am only guessing. As to the shape before it was changed we had a home advantage. Since we do not. I would be quite happy to see it changed back if I wanted to guarantee a home win every week.
-
I understand that the toilets are being sorted this winter. Each winter in last two years further terracing has been added so I suspect that this year will be no different. I think that you will find that promoters have to apply to hold these events and to pay the FIM / BSI for the priviledge. I guess there were no takers further north. As to the track, the best riders in the world have no complaints. I cannot say the same about Oxford.

Jon Cook at Eastbourne hosted his second live chat last week.

The idea originally was a bit like when all the archbishops lock themselves away to appoint a new Pope. Away from all the prying eyes and media. I am sure that sunshine and booze does not come into the equation.
-
There is a meeting of EL Promoters sometime today to decide who is going to join EL for 2004 and conference proper starts tomorrow.
-
They will be recovering from sunburn, sunstroke, hangovers and credit cards that will have gone through the roof when the little woman has been on the rampage. What makes you think they will have been doing anything of note :?: They haven't in the past and I have absolute faith that the majority of them will once again do their utmost to bring British speedway to it's knees with their selfishness :x Yes I fear that you will be right but I live in hope. It's that place just along the coast from Eastbourne.

I have to agree that team building should not be based upon such wide bands but I think that what was said has been oversimplified. As I understand it this would not replace the points limit but will stop teams becoming too top heavy or unbalanced. It is in place of limiting the number of GP riders. We shall just have to see what happens when the promoters get back from their annual shindig.
