  1. Stupid question, the stats quite clearly say it's Woffy, Darcy may have the talent, but won't be champion until he grows up.
  2. The GB Manager may have limited talent to work with, but can still do the best job with what he has, something Middlo failed to convince most he was doing that, remember at Poole he has considerably more powers and funds to mask any errors. I think someone's suggested Havelock just for the crack after Coventry's season, Morris is nailed on short of the ultimate corruption or him turning it down.
  3. What I think is irrelevant, UK law classes anyone under 16 as a child, this over rules anything in speedway. Bit of difference between an accidental crash/incident and an intentionally inflicted assault by an adult.
  4. If what I have read is true then Lewis Bridger should be banned from riding in Britain for the 2014 season, in the eyes of the law, he has effectively committed assault on a child, bit different to the situation of handbags between two adults such as Barker & Cook for example. If that went to court, Bridger would be lucky not to do a couple of months. And that was pretty idiotic as well as I seem to recall Bjerre was on a T/R and Bridger wasn't exactly waving him by.
  5. You edited out where I said immediatly before that "apart from this season" you doughnut It's an example of what I believe is wrong with the tacticals system, don't take the heats/scores quoted too literally.
  6. It's pandering to Sky in the hope of keeping meetings (when on TV) interesting for longer by keeping the result open for longer rather than one team getting tonked out of sight, as a Brummies fan, it's infuriated the hell out of me as tradtionally we've gone for teams with strength through the order, the typical pattern is we'd go 10-14 up by say heat 9, then a top heavy team would send their Grand prix riders out on one or two tacticals, then with heats 13 & 15 shortly following their use, we'd go from 14 in front to losing by 4 at the end of the meeting Luckily we've been good enough this season to avoid it mostly, but an all too frequent scenario in previous seasons, what irks me most is tacticals favour top heavy teams who can afford the superstar GP riders, it can't be right they are given an artificial chance of winning meetings when they only have 2 riders getting points as opposed to the oppositions 5 or more. Apart from this season, Birmingham v Wolves fixtures have been classic example, we smack them out of sight, then Freddie and Tai get comedy points to dig them out a hole.
  7. Absolutely chuffed for Smolinski having the season of his life, the simple fact is he was good enough to qualify and others were not, he deserves to be and indeed is there on merit, give the guy credit, yes the GP's is a huge step up, but did you think he'd be mixing it with and beating the best in the EL back in March ?.
  8. Some of the opinions on here are just pure comedy, it's all Barkers fault because he has previous ? ok then Cook started this chain of events with his uncontrolled gob, anything Barkers done previously is unrelated.
  9. Your point is ?, averages are an irrelevance to whether Cook is an arrogant prat.
  10. Cook has no one to blame but himself, what did he honestly expect after his attack on Barker & Bridger in the media because he wasn't good enough to keep his SWC place ?, Ben or even Lewis are perfectly entitled to be p***ed off with him. Barker's no angel but Cook is fast turning into a poor mans Darcy Ward, all of the arrogance and not even half the talent.
  11. Bar Woofy, I don't think any of them are capable of the grade required, be it tried and tested in King or potential in Worrall, don't get me wrong, him and Cook are good prospects, but will most likely become the Harris and Nicholls of 2018 rather than Nicki Pedersen or Chris Holder if we are being honest, even if the changes required are implemented tomorrow, we can write off the next 5 years as in my opinion the likes of Worrall and Cook are too far along the line to turn into worldbeaters, we need to catch young riders much earlier than that.
  12. Whoever we put in isn't up to the task in all honesty, and I doubt chucking in some youngsters is the answer either, ok they haven't let us down before, but do you see anything in them to suggest they are Grand Prix material ?. I would suggest steps to nuture and develop some decent talent after 10 years or so, but have zero faith in our promoters and associations to actually implement such things if it doesn't offer an instant fix to their rider and financial issues. British Speedway is in dire straights currently, lack of money, lack and talent and lack of interest, and it's a vicious circle that's extremely difficult to fix one of those problems without having the others available.
  13. It begs the question, why do Edinburgh/Cook talk to him if he's blatantly stirring ?, Fergie didn't speak to the BBC for years after they implied his kid in something dodgy. Bit of an insult to Danny King there, in the last 18 months he's gone from a 6 to mid 7 average and held it, regularly scoring at least 9 at Perry Barr, compare to Kennett who is struggling to score for Berwick and got outgated by the prams in the crowd when Swindon came to Birmingham, and Danny got all this without the aid of a Black & Decker. King may not be Woffinden, but he's the best we have outside Woofy and Harris, and certainly better than unsteady Eddie.
  14. That's rich coming from someone who supports Peterborough or Poole depending what day of the week it is
  15. Only thing I can remotely think of is he didn't score brilliantly when at Number One for Brum, but then who has ?.
  16. Your not going to last very long in Speedway if you throw the toys out everytime a decision goes against you, seems Cook & Nicholls have the ego of Ward, but not the talent.
  17. On his form this season, Jason Doyle is more than a match for Bomber and can cause Woofy griefif he's not careful.
  18. Sometime the fences don't keep them on the track, I remember Woofy going over the fence on the back straight at Perry Barr in his Rye House days, Rye left with about 3 riders that night.
  19. If the SWC was at Eastbourne then the selection would make sense, but as it stands, they don't race on comedy small tracks, what's the good of having a track specialist for a type that isn't used ?. I think Harris needs a reasonable showing if it's not to be his last selection, he may be doing no worse than anyone else, but unless someone is truly world class (ie Woofy) I'd try and keep the squad under the age of 30 where there's still room for improvement, Bomber may get back to where he was, but he won't improve on that at 31 or whatever he is now.
  20. Agree about Kennett being a poor choice, he may be doing alright for Swindon, but he always seems to go missing at the big events like the British Final and World Cups, while Harris and Nicholls are not worldbeaters, they would step up and have a go, Eddie generally seems anonymous, Personally I'd of gone for King, Barker while running into form now, has only turned the corner 4 weeks ago. Agree with Cookie, and Woofy/Bomber were automatic picks. Doint it with Kildemand V Eastbourne is one thing, with Harris against Australia is quite another.
  21. Not sure I agree with the suggestion Eddie is the best in form Brit bar Tai at the moment either, if you take meeting played into account, I think Danny King can do better, after attaining a mid 7 average last season, I thought he'd struggle to maintain it, but apart from a duff night against Swindon, he's still putting in the big scores.
  22. The British League shoulden't buckle to Sky's ill informed belief that Speedway doesn't exist if Sky don't have the rights to it, if Sky don't want to pay for the GP's or other league's, then that's their business, but they shoulden't be allowed to mislead viewers that the Elite League is the be and end all, fact is British Speedway is far from the pinnacle of the sport currently, and letting Sky helpe people believe all is well in our little bubble won't help change that.
  23. As a Brummie, I'm pleased to see Bomber at Cardiff as one of our riders, however, I must agree with the majority that I think it's wrong to take the wildcard away from the best rider in the British Final bar Woofy, with their results this season and last, it's not impossible a King or Kennet got of got their by right. I don't begrudge Bomber the wildcard, but believe he should prove he deserves it, and the British Final was the perfect way of doing it.
