Swc, Event Two, King's Lynn 15/7John Leslie replied to Northern Exile's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup Iversen scored 10+1 from 6 rides at Wolves (12+1 including joker points) . So only a 6.67 average. Not checked Bjerre and Jensen, but he probably made them up too.

The space shuttle Endeavour cost $1.7Bn ......that's totally irrelevant to this topic too.

But then again, earlier this week you hadn't even heard that Logie-Baird's magic lantern now had an ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4. So no surprise that you missed the news that the new Belle Vue stadium project was given the go-ahead by Manchester Council's Executive in April, and that these people http://isgplc.com/projects/ who built the London Olympics Velodrome have now been awarded the contract to build the stadium. As regards the Ebbw Vale project it looks to be too far out into the middle of nowhere for regular speedway to be viable. I would imagine they will target a few large-scale weekend events, but wouldn't have the catchment area to provide a regular weekly support for a speedway team. Having said that, if it's going to be a £280m investment, then the costs of including a 300m oval stadium into the project would be chicken-feed in comparison and could open up the complex to Speedway, Stock car, bangers, etc

Speedway On Itv The Motorbike ShowJohn Leslie replied to michaelcroucher's topic in Speedway News and Discussions What programme would show "displays of motorcycles"???? It's a TV show, not photos of pages from Exchange & Mart! I'm not a regular viewer, but whilst channel hopping the other week I saw "The Motorbike Show" listed, so I watched a bit. It was at a school that teaches road racing, or superbikes, or whatever they call the Barry Sheene type stuff these days. Obviously next week the presenter will be learning all about Speedway and probably having a go.

Speedway On Itv The Motorbike ShowJohn Leslie replied to michaelcroucher's topic in Speedway News and Discussions No. Amazingly television can actually show moving pictures these days (colour too). Sadly though Logie Baird is now dead and they don't show the potter's wheel between programmes. You'll also be amazed to learn that between ITV and ITV3 there is also an ITV2!

New To Speedway, Please Someone Explain....John Leslie replied to Diamonds Ram's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway Spot on. It's clearly an existing fan just trolling the same old.

Getting Speedway ResultsJohn Leslie replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway News and Discussions Going back to the seventies after news at ten went off, if a local team had ridden, we used to get a still picture of a speedway rider flashed up and the continuity announcer would read out tonight's speedway result. In the 80s I always used to listen to Radio 2 at 9.57pm, where they did a 3 minute sport report. The last 10 seconds of which was them trying to read out as many speedway results as fast as possible. Then came teletext, then internet

Has There Ever Been A Spanish Speedway Rider?John Leslie replied to msc1874's topic in Speedway News and Discussions I think there was Juan.

They're all "guest riders" at this level. There's no assets or contracts or pay. It's all about getting 8 young or relatively inexperienced riders on track in a reasonably meaningful competitive environment. I always stay behind and watch any 2nd half events, and the Midland Development League is just about the best of them all.

Jan O Pedersen Speedway AcademyJohn Leslie replied to Main Man's topic in Training Tracks / Amateur The "Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence" seems a bit of an unfortunate acronym. Reminds me of DelBoy's "Trotters Independent Traders" and Rodney's "Diploma In Computing"

British GP 2013John Leslie replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup Either that or they copied the pyramid idea off Johnny Vegas and his tea drinking monkey. As we've already gone from a "computer-monitored climate-controlled storage facility" to a "tarp covered pyramid", I'm going to be really disappointed if the pyramid actually turns out to be just a mound of shale covered in tarpaulin and old tyres at the side of the docks.

British GP 2013John Leslie replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup I think it's the magical pyramid shape that is the key to it.

Ludvig Lindgren (he's Fine Before You Worry!)John Leslie replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions World Cup??? He's British. How can he go riding for Poland or Sweden in the World Cup? In any case Lindgren riding for Sweden in the World Cup wouldn't matter. Doubling up should only be for riders who are not contracted to a foreign league. If Craig Cook had signed to ride for a Polish League or Swedish League team, then yes, he shouldn't be allowed to double up.
-
Ludvig Lindgren (he's Fine Before You Worry!)John Leslie replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions Surely the idea of doubling up is to give financial help to young or upcoming riders who can't yet get extra rides in foreign leagues? Ideally doubling up would be for Brits only...we need to help our own...but someone would whinge about that. I have no problem with Aussies or Americans etc, who base themselves in Britain for the season, also doubling up. But no one should be riding in Swedish and/or Polish leagues and doubling up in both our leagues. It should be solely for riders who have a limited income by not being able to ride abroad and who can give Britain their undivided attention.
-
Ludvig Lindgren (he's Fine Before You Worry!)John Leslie replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions Andersen doesn't double up. The rules say that to be eligible to double up you have to be able to give British League fixtures absolute priority.
-
Ludvig Lindgren (he's Fine Before You Worry!)John Leslie replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions So SCB is right? Lindgren can't give the British leagues absolute priority, so he is ineligible as a double-up rider as per the rules?
-
Ludvig Lindgren (he's Fine Before You Worry!)John Leslie replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions If there's any clash between a Wolves or Newcastle fixture and a foreign fixture, then surely Wolves/Newcastle can just postpone theirs now under the new Poole rule.

The Freestyle Show Uk. 'drift Vs Freestyle'John Leslie replied to gavinpjones's topic in Speedway News and Discussions Seems a bit dishonest to sell tickets to people by making them think it's in the plush surroundings of Leicester City when it's really going to be at the less plush Leicester Speedway (although I rate Leicester speedway as a very good new facility). I think all Speedway people will work out that it can't possibly be at Leicester City and therefore must be at Leicester Speedway, but non-speedway people could be easily duped.

The Freestyle Show Uk. 'drift Vs Freestyle'John Leslie replied to gavinpjones's topic in Speedway News and Discussions The only thing that confuses me is that the advert and the website both say the event is at Leicester City. Surely that's not right? They can't possibly be building a track round the pitch for one event....It's got to be at Leicester Speedway hasn't it?
