  1. Yes. Heat 2 of the meeting v Mildenhall at Brough Park on 3 April 1978.
  2. Can anyone supply heat details for this meeting please?
  3. How about this from a description for a vacancy at a large worldwide firm of accountants. Disgraceful for a firm of such standing. Job Description: Our clients know just how important it is to maximise and protect their personal wealth. However, the UK has some of the most complex tax legislation in the world. Over time, taxes such as income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax can also erode their wealth significantly. ***** ********** Personal Tax Compliance Unit specialises in advising client’s on how to minimise their tax liability and to ensure they are complying with their tax obligations. As the tax system is always changing, the team are skilled in keeping client’s up-to-date on developments and advise on how the changes might affect them. Throughout, they can relax knowing their tax affairs are in safe hands.
  4. Thanks for this Dave. Can anyone else provide the missing heat details please?
  5. Can anyone supply heat details for this meeting please?
  6. Thanks Dave. Much appreciated.
  7. Can anyone supply heat details for this meeting please?
  8. Thanks ever so much. Keith is it?
  9. Can anyone supply heat details for this meeting at Newcastle please?
  10. Received my copy today. Excellent, highly recommended.
  11. Walter and Fred Creasor also achieved this for Newcastle in the English Dirt Track League in 1929 although riders had only three races a match in those days.
  12. Mauger also won both of his second half rides in each of the team matches and his Silver Sash race against Ken Sharples resulting in him riding a total of three meetings at Sunderland with seventeen wins from seventeen races.
  13. I wouldn't say it's crap but the journalism, at times, leaves a lot to be desired. After my earlier post re Chris Holder being the youngest World Champion I find Craven, Moore, Collins, Lee and Woffinden were all younger. Does the editor actually check articles before they appear?
  14. Speedway Star this week says that on 6 October 2012 Chris Holder shocked the world by becoming the youngest World Champion. Surely Michael Lee, for one, was younger? Just got to the end of the article and see the interview was for Monster Energy. Perhaps this explains the inaccuracy.
  15. I checked and could "only" find 50 tracks he had appeared at. The highest for riders who I don't think have been mentioned that I have found appears to be Ross Gilbertson with 58.
  16. It's in a review of the DVD in this week's Speedway Star. Remarkable that Heat 9 is not covered.
  17. North & Midland league tables appear in the 1963 Speedway Star Digest North 1. Sheffield 8 6 1 1 366.5 255.5 13 2. Middlesbrough 8 4 0 4 316 305 8 3. Edinburgh 8 3 2 3 303 318 8 4. Newcastle 8 4 0 4 293.5 327.5 8 5. Bradford 8 1 1 6 274 347 3 Midland 1. Wolverhampton 6 4 0 2 242 226 8 2. Cradley Heath 6 3 0 3 263 205 6 3. Leicester 6 3 0 3 226 242 6 4. Stoke 6 2 0 4 205 263 4
  18. There are two books compiled by Alan Robertson - History of British Speedway Leagues 1991-2014 and The History of British League Speedway 1946-64 - which cover the periods before and after Peter Oakes book.
  19. With no punishment for doing so now a precedent has been set?
  20. Would it not have made more sense to have one division with all teams meeting each other once with a points limit of 45?
  21. Thanks for the response Philip. Hancock had enough points to win the World Championship. He did not need anymore so let Holder past - simple as that. He was rightly excluded from the race. So I don't understand the point you are trying to make. In years gone by most of the Star's reporters (and I am aware some had more than one name) had articles on finals. I just think Paul is biased towards Hancock (Grin) and that your magazine is also biased because of this. No reference at all to Nikki Pedersen's thoughts which I believe were before your printing deadline. Monster Energy have too much influence with sponsoring (or perhaps running) a competition and sponsoring three riders who appear therein. This should not happen.
