  1. This is a 447 page A4 sized book that I have compiled which includes heat details from all Newcastle home and away main meetings that were available at the time of printing. Also includes seasonal league tables, riders' averages and statistical appendices. It is NOT a picture book and only the front and back covers are illustrated. Available now for £22.50 costing £18 plus £4.50 postage and packing within the United Kingdom. Payment by PayPal and any enquiries please to joewake55@gmail.com
  2. Anyone able to provide details after heat 8 please?
  3. Do you think the fact that there are no home meetings left and money may be a factor?
  4. Full strength side apart from Matej Kus according to website!!!
  5. They’ll probably be obliged to stage twenty but if not they’ll be obliterated.☹️
  6. Just sums up what is crap about speedway these days. Four weeks without a meeting and Aarnio & Kus absent because they are abroad. I despair.
  7. Anyone able to supply this information please?
  8. Can anyone supply the full teams and heat one details for this abandoned meeting please?
  9. The question was How many future GP riders have PL teams had. Surely Kus and Franc dont count as they had already ridden in a GP before joining Newcastle. Same for Ferjan who in addition did not ride one after joining. Jirout and Larsen dont apply either but how about Lubos Tomicek and Robert Lambert?
  10. There was an interview some years ago on the Speedway Plus website in which he said he signed for Newcastle for the rest of the season but there was a clause that if a higher league came after him he would be released. Ill try and find it over the weekend as Im away from home at the moment.
  11. But Belle Vue were in the EL not the PL. He first rode in PL for Newcastle in 2011.
  12. Matej Ferjan was a past GP rider who subsequently rode in the PL - not the other way round. Crump, Ryan Sullivan and Scott Nicholls were all PL riders with Peterborough who went on to become regular GP riders.
  13. Davey Watt rode in PL for Newcastle in 2002 and also in seven GPS between 2010 and 2017. Also arguably Brian Anderson who signed for Newcastle late in the 1991 season but only rode in three challenge matches and was transferred to Coventry in 1992 and then became a GP rider.
  14. Is Josh Gudgeon not the grandson of Peter Oakes?
  15. This meeting was abandoned after one heat because of rain. Can anyone supply the full line-ups of each team please?
  16. I have bought Speedway Star since the sixties and now have it on subscription. Received my renewal letter this week and am seriously thinking whether I should bother. Will the sport in this country survive another twelve months?
  17. Talking about the 70s and 80s. Mark Thorpe's first season was 1989 so surely does not count. Agree with Wayne Brown though.
  18. Do not forget David Bargh who, apart from a couple of seasons, rode in the UK from 1978 until his retirement in 1992. A very entertaining and consistent rider.
  19. On 22 May 1948 Wilf Jay, Alec Grant and Charlie Spinks all scored twelve point maximums in Newcastle's 55-29 win at Edinburgh. On 4 August 1983 Rod Hunter and Joe Owen both scored paid 21 point maximums in Newcastle's 49-47 win at Oxford. In the same season they both scored full 21 point maximums - Owen at home against Mildenhall on 25 July and Hunter at Weymouth on 2 August
