  1. Agree with what Canadian Star has posted. The thing is I used to boo both Penhall and Mauger simply because they didn't ride for my team and they were just soooo good that you knew that barring ef's that your team wasn't going to get near them !! It was really more of a complement than anything (and I read somewhere that Ivan said that it used to spur him on, doh !). I've posted my rider nominations already but could I put a mention forward for DeWayne Keeter (I'm hoping that I remebered correctly and that he's a yank) - as far as I recall he only did one season here but the one he did he was a full time member of the Leicester team that went through the entire season using the same 7 riders (in League matches at least) ? The only thing is that was in 1969 and a year too early !!!
  2. A couple of riders who might have raced against all 3 are Malcolm Simmons (definitely against the first 2 but not sure about the youngest) and Barry Thomas (ditto against the youngest). Maybe someone could confirm or otherwise ?
  3. 1. Denny Pyeatt 2. Steve Gresham 3. Scott Autrey
  4. Thanks for the info on Dick Fisher. I checked the details on the Speedway Researcher website and found that he did indeed ride for Fleetwood in '51 - one meeting against Ashfield in August as reserve (2 rides nil points) ! I don't suppose you think about such things when you're young and starting out but to 'ruin' a one track career for one meeting ...... well !! Mention of Per Jonsson got me round to thinking on Bernie Leigh of Reading. Now I know he rode for Swindon in '74 as well as Reading for the rest of his career (don't forget that he only rode for the Robins because of Readings one season failure to reopen after the stadium move) but I wondered who would have been a one track rider had not his principle track closed ? In addition to Bernie the other one I can think of would be Fundin (am I allowed to mention this on this thread, sorry new to this game, ?)
  5. How about Dick Fisher (Belle Vue 53-66) ? Also, Ron Johnston also of Belle Vue over the same time period. Apologies for suggesting Hans Wasserman, didn't release that 5 years was the watershed mark. Not my era but I think Per Jonsson only rode for Reading in Britain and hasn't been mentioned.
  6. How about Swindon's Bob Jones, George White & Tadeusz Teodorowicz ? Also, John Dore of Aldershot (50-52) ?
  7. Wasn't Bob Kilby a Swindon only rider other than when forced to move by Rider Control ?
  8. Hi, the following is taken from the complete history of the british speedway. Golden Helmet (First Division) raced for between 1965 and 7/5/1987 (Mitch Shirra given as last holder, Barry Briggs was initial nominated holder). Silver Sash (First Division) raced for between 1964 and 1969 (Ivan Mauger has both initial nominated holder and last holder). The book adds that ths Sash was merged with the Golden Helmet in 1971. Silver Helmet (Second Division) raced for between 1970 and at least 1990 (initial holder was Ross Gilbertson who defeated Ron Bagley, holder at end of 1990 was Andy Grahame). I'm fairly certain that the Golden Helmet has been raced for since 1990 and that a Bronze Helmet was also raced for by Third Division/Conference/Amateur League riders since 1990 but can't remember when.
  9. Trevor Redmond also rode for the Lions in 1952, pretty much the complete season.
