  1. Well, to be honest, given this is supposed to be the last ever meeting at The Abbey that line up doesn't suggest I should give up my Sunday afternoon! I will be there, of course, but I thought given we have known for several months this event is happening that a few 'stars' could have been added to the line up. Disappointing to say the least.
  2. Mmmm...and I suppose O J Simpson didn't murder his wife either...
  3. To be fair, you have all been told. Some people who have probably not even been to Blunsdon once this year have been making all sorts of allegations of skulduggery, however, us regulars have noted that he does not attack the corners when he is chasing other riders and when he misses the gate is just damn right poor. I said last week he should not be at 1 as he does not lead by example nor is he a leader of men. He is a good rider but just not good enough to do what we want him to do, which is win heat 1, set the tempo for the rest of the meeting and regularly score double figures home and away.
  4. Attends POSF at KL...watches re-run of meeting on Sky...I do believe BSF we have reached out and saved this tortured soul. Do I hear an hallelujah...
  5. Anyway, well done to Belle Vue. A professional job well done and a result that leaves the Robins a bit of a mountain to climb. Of course they can do it but have to perform as The Aces did in the opening heats and get the tactical out by about heat 6 to have any chance. I was one of the few that made the long trip up and regretted it from heat 1. Shades of our performance in the final at Monmore. I don't have a problem with Batch but he is not a leader of men nor does he lead by example, well certainly not this season. He probably is captain by default but I am never convinced he will set the tone and his nervous twitch and subsequent tumble just adds credence. Zengi out in Heat 1 to set the tone and get the team moving in the right direction. The rest of the team are not blameless either and to have no points from your heat leaders, who happen to ride the track well, is embarrassing. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your outlook, I will not be there next week but in my heart I know the season will finish on Monday.
  6. what like Morris did in heat 3? Nice to see so many sycophants at KL last night? normally when Belle Vue on Sky on it looks like a trailer for One Man and his dog.
  7. Momentum is key I grant you but when you don't have to put everything in then tonight's result is not a complete shock. The Robins have done well to qualify considering the head start we gave both BV and KL. We are in the final 4 and have as good as chance as any. Confidence is high, away from home we have drawn at Poole, hammered Coventry and lost by 2 at KL. There is nothing to fear in the play offs.
  8. what are you on about? it was level after 11. I am sure you've played football and cricket where there is nothing on the result for either team - this is nothing different. The team are hardly lacking in confidence having drawn at Poole, run The Aces close at KL and beaten The Bees home and away in the last 3 weeks. I think the main thing was our riders came through tonight unscathed. Next Monday is a different ball game.
  9. Yes, that is the case, however, the home defeat had Morris and Batchelor both score 4 a piece and the reserves scored 3 from 8 rides. I am glad BV are in the play off. The play offs have a decent look and all the teams will think they can win the final if they have that bit of luck. BV have a good all round team and Worrall, in particular, is a major concern but I have seen enough to be quietly confident over the 2 legs. Weather permitting my first trip to the city of Sy'cog'phants awaits...
  10. No. 46-44 and 48-42 says you have your work cut out and that's assuming the reserves rack up the points they did in those 2 matches. Are you worried? I would be...
  11. Newsflash **Wolves, Leicester and Lakeside won't be in the play offs** BV only got to 50 once against either Poole, Coventry or Swindon at Kirky Lane. Make of that what you will...
  12. Yep....so did Kauko Niemenen, however, I prefer to measure a rider's competence at a track on a little more than one race ER.
  13. You must be confusing this rider with Joonas Kylmakorpi who scores next to nothing at Blunsdon. DTC has hit the nail on the head. Bees should be stronger for both of these not riding.
  14. Christ you are labouring the point CM. Crazy Robin said it, and probably used the wrong adjective. No triumphalism at all.
  15. I didn't realise the Robins made the rules too... Would that be the same Robins that were literally yards from taking all 3 points early on in the season @ Kirky Lane? Finally, the TR rule works both ways and The Robins lost the 2007 KOC after destroying Coventry early on.
  16. To be fair, we had no chance of making the Play Offs until Darcy came along. Now we have a chance and I am sure if the opportunity came along for a winners medal he'd take it. I was at Wimbourne Road and apart from heat 13 when he was at the back having missed the gate completely he chased both Holder and Magic all the way in their respective heat wins and guided Batchelor home twice to ensure 5-1s. As with Stevebrum with Troy Batchelor, you can see what you want to see on the basic facts but unless you are actually there to see what happens I can't see how you make the assumption you have. So far, he has demonstrated what an absolute talent he is. I, for one, am delighted the Abbey faithful have a chance to witness his abilities and so far, in my opinion, he hasn't let us down.
  17. What do you mean poor decision? I thought they had cancelled bingo night tomorrow or changed the pension rules after the whole stand erupted. Steele got it absolutely spot on. Wright in front, Newman locked up and out of shape, what's wrong with that? What Poole fans know about speedway can be written on a postage stamp 😋😉😊
  18. Surely that's two? Looking forward to a couple of days on the South Coast with Mrs Blue. Managed to convince her this was a good time of year to mooch around Corfe Castle et al. She has only been speedway once before and had to sit the 3 hour marathon that passed as our opening fixture of the season. Hopefully a Zengi inspired victory at the Blue Groove Arena, which will have The Aces and Stars fans glancing nervously over their shoulders.
  19. How bad are Wolves. I thought they couldn't be any worse than when they rode at Swindon. Looks like I was wrong.. Still, a great night for the EL's 'worst away team' and a fantastic haul from Zengi. Great stuff. Worrying that Rosco still giving rides to riders who should clearly be replaced.
  20. Oi, anyone who claims to wear purple chinos rightly belongs at The Blue Groove Arena. Having said that, I saw Orion in something that resembled long shorts the other week, so maybe he'll fit in OK at The Abbey.
  21. surely you are the unluckiest person in the world.... As for last night, missed my first fixture of the season due to the fact it was raining in Bristol and I didn't fancy travelling with the possibility of it being called off. Darcy looked an excellent addition to the team. Quick and smooth in front. Zengi showed why it was a 'no brainer' he should be kept with another impressive haul of points but Wright was, for me, MotM. Gets stuck in and not frightened to mix it either. Some good battles wih Newman. Overall, a comfortable win but away wins are now the order of the day. Must target the Wolves away matches as must win because they are so poor. 2 wins there would go a long way to deciding 4th place in our favour.
  22. It works both ways as we have found out with Miedzinski.
