  1. He is often tentative at the start line, and takes time to settle, even in ht2. Never a good sign. Now that the team is openly struggling it places more pressure on the under performers. There is no hiding place in a struggling team, we don't have half a season to carry FH this year until he wakes up.
  2. We had 6 heat winners all afternoon and none in the last 4 heats. With the reserves cancelling each other out, our very soft middle left us toiling. We've been here before with Sunday afternoon racing, its not like we are struggling for blank Fridays, there are plenty of them coming up with a 4 week break from mid May. We were beaten by the better team today that just happened to be them. I thought it would be Plymouth this Friday, being back for their second visit. Maybe it will!
  3. Hagon was decent value. King was the difference tonight, he hasnt ridden Ashfield that well in years. I'd suggest our KOC ends tomorrow.
  4. Ht11 looked a very good gate from Morris off the smooth gate 1, exceptionally good. Other than that we were worked hard and beaten by the better team. An interesting season ahead.
  5. Proper speedway, done and dusted by 9.05pm to try and avoid the advancing rain. Minimal tractor grading, lets have this every week.
  6. Ht7 the wind blows the tapes into Flint's front wheel despite him not moving, Flint excluded! Was it Willie Dishington tonight?

  8. Heat leaders perhaps, the rest if doing Championship only, I severely doubt it. Its a hobby they are good at, and enjoy, certainly not a living. If most teams started their season now they could be done by late June if they ran their meetings consistently week to week. If the returns on that basis were so good it would attract far more riders to the sport and from other motorcycle disciplines, increasing competition for team places and driving up the standard. It doesn't.
  9. With only 8 home league meetings in the Championship and a scattering of others you'll be lucky if many riders break even if they aren't doing both leagues or riding abroad. Riders can't afford to be so charitable anymore.
  10. And we wanted him back. It should be personal choice how a team structures their line up.
  11. Assumes those riders want to ride at the tracks who missed out on them and that those tracks can financially afford those riders.
  12. Still waiting on an explanation for ht1 where the red lights came on with 6 seconds on the clock and Victors bike then packed up, yet was allowed to jump on another.
  13. Taking half a meeting to adapt to track conditions isnt acceptable at the business end of the season. Did the Glasgow riders mis-judge the track walk, did they ask for it to be ultra slick, did they even know what they were getting beforehand? Whatever it was it can't happen again, we have some hefty points deficits to claw back in our next two home meetings. Its all very well bringing in Andy Meredith to boost our GP or SGP2 chances next season but if it is affecting our core product its a no for me. Lets prep the track to suit our riders wherever possible, its brings the best out in them and allows the racers to shine.
  14. Absolutely, dilute the product further, the fans will definitely go for it. What next, monthly meetings, three lap races, the 13 heat formula! #FFS
  15. With the current trend of appalling decision making you'll be lucky if the points limit is 35 next year, with 6 man teams and regional leagues with 1h/1a!
  16. A decent second half to the meeting with some proper racing from Howarth, MPT and Nagel. Ht15 was superb. Minimal grading also enhanced the experience IMO. If we are going to do the business against Poole next week we need to be gating right from the start to stand a chance.
  17. Good point, noticed Villads still listed as 5.00 in last nights programme, not sure how many meetings he needs to get a proper average but if we could go down the airport burger route and keep him as a 5.00 for 2026 that would be smashing.
  18. He got those points from a wet and heavy track the inexperienced Glasgow riders couldn't get to grips with. The rider we got tonight is the real one, I'm not sure why people are surprised. We would have been better running r/r with Flint taking the ht8 ride.
  19. Their progress would be faster with more meetings, the lack of which this season again, has hampered them and other young riders. Like any apprentice, the more you practice the better you get.
  20. Based on tonight it would be the soft middle order and having a 5 point reserve scoring 1 point. Still some good racing from Harris, Hodder and Flint.
  21. Another decent meeting at Ashfield though ht15 wasn't in the script. Jeppesen is an incredible signing for Berwick and if Morris can quickly find his feet gives them a much stronger top four. Tomorrow night at Berwick is a lottery, could go any way!
  22. Eight years ago was a long time and with having the last two out perhaps this is a signing for next season, with this one getting used to racing again and lowering that 8.82 average just a little. Time will tell.
  23. A very good meeting watched by a smaller crowd than normal. Could have gone either way after the ht11 break. I thought this would be the meeting our reserves would really fire. It wasn't but we need then to start shortly with the business end coming soon. Anyway, it was nice to have a July meeting.
