  1. Nope, but I think he should be knighted.
  2. Back to the title of this thread, the kevlar's what?
  3. A big red "B" on a bright yellow background, does exactly what it says on the tin race jacket.
  4. Can't believe the prices sellers are asking for the Tragedy book on Ebay now. £100+, £300+ Blimey.
  5. In general yes, in British speedway, not necessarily. Open to interpretation, not set in stone.
  6. If the Monster sponsored (well any energy drink really) riders drank as much of the product as it looked then they'd be like a 5 year old on a diet of Ribena and blue smarties! I dread to think what that would do to a 46 year old geez.
  7. Watched this meeting earlier today and I have to agree with people who say it was the best meeting of the season. Firstly, what a track, even given the weather it rode fantastically. Secondly, what a bunch of racers that field was, some of the racing was utterly bonkers. Thirdly, add firstly to secondly, what's not to like?
  8. Footballers swear at officials Rugby players swear Bike racers swear People swear Even speedway riders swear Move on peeps.
  9. Thereare more important things in life to worry about. I bet if you play his last interview backwards it says "worship Satan" or something. Personally, I'm more concerned about his ears.
  10. Well if they're just signing good looking lads with decent voices then they deserve all they get really.
  11. When I was a lad you used to get the touring sides coming over, Olching from Germany and the Swedes used to tour too, You'd get Young Poles v Young England tests, all sorts of stuff, all very interesting and a break away from league racing. World championship qualifiers used to start at Division 2 tracks with all the riders vying to reach the next stage. The British Final was a proper prestige event, there were big money, big name televised individual events, the list goes on. All this has been lost now and what we have left have left is so watered down that the interest has largely disappeared for many many fans.
  12. Tommy 2 Jerry Nil, hallelujah......... Etc etc
  13. Can they use industrial power lazers that will chop off the front wheels of any riders rolling at the start?
  14. That's news to me and quite a few others, I would imagine.
  15. There is another downside to having such a young squad, apart from the obvious inexperience, it's the limited amount of sponsorship opportunities. I mean, look. Pubs etc-too young to drink Male grooming products-too young to shave Car/Van manufacturers-too young to drive Wedding planners-too young to get married Durex-too young to, well you get my drift.............................
  16. One of the biggest problems with speedway now is identity. I mean, where does it stand in the world of sport? Is it a motorsport? Well there are motors involved, but it doesn't attract traditional motorsport fans, probably because nobody can identify with a particular manufacturer like they can in road racing, MX etc. Anyway, how many motorcycles do you see parked outside a speedway stadium? Is it an extreme sport? Well yes, it probably is. but it doesn't appeal to the Nitro Circus types in the way it should. Maybe speedway promoters should treat themselves to a trip to a BSB round. £25-30 all day. not much more than that for the whole weekend package. Generally decent facilities, pit walks with meet the riders, paddock access, stalls, things for kids to do, all in all a sport that gears itself to keeping fans happy and entertained. Decent crowds bearing in mind that each event is heavily televised. There's a lot to be learned.
  17. These are good points. Many fans (me included) have drifted away from speedway over the years and maybe the "powers that be" need to address this issue just as much as attracting new supporters, after all, at least they loved the sport once in the first place.
  18. Carter was the only rider I'd go to another track just to watch. He was a bums on seat star and as has someone else said, how speedway could do with that today.
  19. I know you mean the top class, but we did have a MotoGP champion this year, the first for 38 years, Danny Kent in Moto 3.
  20. Sorry to report the passing of Derek Timms after a short illness. He was a great servant to the sport and rode for many teams over the years, Cradley probably being his most well known. He was a smashing bloke and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
