  1. Makes me wonder who is putting up the money. As you say,"mickey muse" and Polish fans don't normally go for that sort of thing in a big way however good the line-up.But if Tai wants to ride, there must be good money being payed.I'd also guess who ever runs The World Games will alo need paying to come in under their name....will watch all the news with interest
  2. My link is also in english quite strange pronounciations of some names,i must say,but english
  3. Might well But i guess the FIM said last time that national teams couldn't be entered? And that is why i attended that World Games meeting that was a right old mix of riders
  4. Think Onesport would have a case for complaint if some invitational event was allowed to host a pairs event that was national teams under the umbrella of a World Games. All has to get approval from the FIM i guess
  5. But you could also describe these as "teams from all over the world" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ED3fgjEkaOo
  6. Link? I know it was put on another thread last year that speedway would be included, but not as to what form it would take.Last time it was a bit of a pick and mix of pairs, not national teams. Ok found this Just an "invitational meeting" that isn't part of the "official" World Games. So might be the same thing we had in London
  7. Think your assesment was spot on Sid.He was at the level of a Genz,Monk,Trigg etc.He wasn't a Betts or Ashby or Hedge
  8. Good work Sid.Out of interest how many did Brett or Rick France make?
  9. I agree Sid,but as a Wimbledon fan i am a bit biased,so left it at that.I do honestly think Trevor was a bit better than Colin
  10. Had a decent few years no doubt, but as i say i think by 1969 he was on the way down. You could though look at 1966 which was one of his best years. He did actually win a British quali at his home track of Hackney. He also done well finishing 2nd in his semi final and third in the British final at Wimbledon, which might be his best result of his career? He managed to get through the British-Scandinavian Final at Sheffield, but that was full of some quite poor Scandinavians(Olsen was a novice at this stage) and then finished rock bottom at Wembley in the European Final with a zero.I guess in 1970 he just didn't qualify for the British Final as it was before Lokeren? Maybe Wembley just wasn't his type of track? How many British Finals did he qualify for?Is Sid right and Colin was about the level of a Genz,Monk,Hedge etc?Seems fair to me.
  11. Already done that. I would ask contributers to this thread not to just go over old ground and repeat things already posted
  12. Has to be said that 1967 was a Wembley year,so all you had to do was do well in the British Final and you were in.Saying that, you obviously had to do well against some good riders and Colin did manage to beat Ivan Mauger in that final and also Anders Michanek in the world final. But he didn't even manage to win any British qualifying rounds. His best was 2nd at his home track Hackney. Some riders like Ronnie Genz and Charlie Monk won a couple of meetings.Probably a question of liking the West Ham track to an extent.Briggo also didn't win a quali, but won his semi final and the British final...
  13. To put it into perspective though in 1969 as Hackney's no.1 he got an average of of 7.30 from 50 meetings. In a lot of other teams he would be the 3rd or 4th best rider.Guess by then he was on the way down after a fairly short career in which he did make 1 world final
  14. Video of Heerenveen http://eisspeedway.blogspot.de/2017/04/52min-2017-fim-team-ice-speedway_12.html?spref=fb See Bauer was complaining a bit about the gap until Heerenveen.Guess he is going to be unhappier if the gap grows over the next 2 seasons
  15. James Shanes has impressed, though i wasn't wrong about him as i didn't really notice him before this season apart from his Long Track/Grass stuff
  16. Just wanted to use that as an example of how confusing it could all get.Understand your reasons though Think in general the whole thing is complicated and some longtrack meetings are held on grass.Even some of the official FIM meetings are held on various surfaces. Some of the youth competitions seem to be held both on grass and speedway tracks etc
  17. Very true.Even the short track quad championship is held on a number of different tracks, both speedway and grass tracks. It would be very confusing to have some results on one thread and some on another http://www.shorttrack-online.de/?p=1513 In the first meeting there is mention of a 77 year old competitor from the UK,Paddy Thorne The next meeting is at Ludwigslust in a couple of weeks time.Might be tempted to take a look if the weather is good
  18. Taking an educated guess,Vince Hurst is our "Vince",so congratulations "grandad"
  19. Just using the example of the beautiful Hoover Building in London,i see that it has now been turned into a Tesco's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoover_Building And of course there is the Battersea Power Station saga, where the fascade has been saved, but years and years of discussions on what the building will house https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battersea_Power_Station Also just came to me,Arsenal Stadium, which is of course far more architecturally beautiful has also been redeveloped whilst keeping the some of the exterior and some parts of the stadium.Other parts though were demolished and it is not used for sporting events any more!!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arsenal_Stadium I am also no expert, but i think restoring an old stadium is far more expensive than building a new one.Plus you then have the added restrictions on what can and can't be done, once a building is listed
  20. Would of course hope so.I am just wondering how this is supposed to pan out.Just listing the stadium doesn't save its sporting use does it?Can it still be turned into something else as long as the main part of the stadium is kept intact?
  21. Excuse my ignorance on this, but what is to be achieved from getting the stadium listed as an historic building? Ok,i can understand that it then can't be pulled down, but surely there needs to be someone who actually wants to fund its restoration? That is going to cost a packet.Or does the funds come from the government for this? And even if the stadium is restored, would it be a full scale restoration or just the fascade and what is within could be used for something other than sport to help fund the restoration? I am just wondering whether just listing the stadium doesn't neccesarily mean any sport or at least none of those associated with the stadium will continue. That all depends surely on who takes over the stadium and whether any promoters can come up with what will probably be raised rents to pay for the place etc. Sounds great that the place could be saved, but could it end up being too expensive to restore and then end up being used for dogs and stock cars? But on the relevant thread of course.Especially as gustix is asking for BSF users to keep some of his threads on theme elsewhere
  22. As i posted last season, even Denmark seem to have dropped by about 50% in the 80cc group over the past few seasons, which must be a big worry if that isn't just a one year blip, but a trend that keeps going I remember a bit over 10 years ago and there were qualifiers before some of the German junior quaifiers, because there were so many riders.20 odd riders wanting to get into the 16 for the main meeting. At least in the north. Now i don't think they even hold qualifiers north and south
  23. Not planning, but started legal action Meaning
  24. Results from the weekends meeting in Vries,Holland,Dutch Open Grass Track.2015 World Champ Jannick de Jong wins http://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/679209/grasstrack-de-jong-najlepszy-w-vries
