  1. From what I gather there are 8 teams in the league. All teams are in the quarter finals, then they have semi finals and a final. So they have 8 teams with 8 loads of fans with 7 games over a weekend.Don't think that is possible in speedway at one track. The comp is in April and indoors. Now have an end of season fiesta for speedway and it is in end of Sept or October.Who thinks standing outside for hours on end at that time of year in all sorts of weather is some sort of sporting bonanza? Must have looked at old info.It is now 4 games http://www.eliteleague.co.uk/playoff-finals-weekend--p195911
  2. Thing is it seems Ice Hockey can involve a number of teams and have a good number of games over a weekend. You know one big difference is that in a Hockey game in the break a machine goes over the ice and it is as good as new and they are ready for the next part and I bet after one game they might have a 15 minute or more break where the crowd can refresh themselves and the ice is as good as new for the next game. And you can do that ad infinitum over a long weekend and you are sure of the games going on whatever the weather. In speedway it is just different.............
  3. He is talking about a "repeat" from 1974........think that counts as a Whoosh!!!!!
  4. More bad news for Lübeck Airport.Insolvent....... http://www.ndr.de/nachrichten/schleswig-holstein/Flughafen-Luebeck-meldet-erneut-Insolvenz-an,flughafen988.html
  5. It has been debated quite a bit in Germany that a lot of the players don't sing the anthem.Özil is one often mentioned https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqF_NmhxHdA
  6. I do from memory think Eddie had the best, the second best, the third best and the fifth best BL average of all the Poles in that period.Zenon was of course the rider with the 4th best....... Do hope he gets back to full health. He was without dispute a great rider
  7. Remember him only as a ref,but like you say Norbold without his like, speedway couldn't exist R.I.P
  8. They are getting harder to find on the streets of Hamburg, now all the refugees go around collecting them
  9. Losing twice to Masters wasn't good. But that last heat is just what I mean.Jonsson and Smoli both didn't ride and that changes things around unfairly maybe for the other riders and imo more importantly, robs the fans of seeing the better riders. Then again I wasn't there so what do I care
  10. What happened to Lahti? "his to lose" I think it was It is a great meeting, but like the Ostseepokal that has a similar format,i feel a little cheated that a good rider has qualified from 2 heats and then pulls out of his third heat as he is already through. Not really doing that for my entertainment I think
  11. Say that to the poor bugger who gets hit in the head by a golf ball flying at 60mph that was hit by someone who found it hard to concentrate because his dad is injured
  12. Wonder if he was somehow on Harris's bike and Chris was on Antonios and after the meeting they noticed the mistake and now everything is back to normal
  13. Wasn't the Onesport mafia that done it?
  14. That is right. In a run-off.I think Mikkels chain came off Here are the final results http://www.speedway.org/junioren-wm/2015/index.html The meeting can be watched again here. The run-off at 92 minutes.Mikkelsen shed a chain right from the tapes http://www.ceskatelevize.cz/ivysilani/10161678681-motocyklove-zavody/215471291272003-finale-ms-jezdcu-na-ploche-draze-do-21-let
  15. Not sure I am understanding this. When you say the stadium will be available throughout the week,do you mean the track or restaurant etc,as that seems to contradict the other post.......
  16. And not very often from the records.Guess he must have done second halves or junior meetings, because a normal speedway riders rides more in a month than that Rob Homer did in 3 years....
  17. Wembley was great though. As a stadium and as a team. And what a fan base they had.Never see their like again
  18. Surely starting at the bottom makes it more expensive for youngsters, especially those that have already started out. They have to buy brand new kit, rather than second hand stuff............and the guys at the top of the ladder can carry on using their bikes, when they are more in a position to afford new gear
  19. But I was quoting the post where you called it a junior golden helmet
  20. Saw something on the net criticising young riders for wanting too much....travel money etc and asking how it was in other motorsports and how the times have changed.........So guess that had something to do with it
  21. Team Finland 50 p. Griparna 33 p. Kavaljererna 22 p. Jooa 14 p. Jari 13 p. Mika 12 p. Niklas 11p. Hyvä hyvä TEAM FINLAND. Think maybe Hammarby refused to ride,but not sure.
  22. That is how things go in the sport. You will get "veiled" comments from Tatum and Pearson(I think it was) about Emils engines, which went on for weeks or months when he was going fantastic in the GPs.You will get "veiled" comments about "polish speed" from people in the sport when the Poles are ding really well.Think Stekkers was one ,when Poland beat Denmark in the SWC.These sort of comments have been going on for decades and very very rarely does anyone put the money up to make an official protest.Just veiled remarks. That is how it has been and probably always will be,not just from fans, but more often than not from riders and officials.People(and this often means riders)can't believe that someone else can be so much better than themselves or the rider they favour. Korneliussen was in some paper the other year saying he knew riders were cheating.Did he come out and name any?Did he make any protests at any meetings?I'll leave those for you to answer
