Ben Barker In Trouble With The Police

Well he wouldn't be the first or last to do that either, but let's hope he isn't that silly.......... -
Robert Lambert National League Next Year?
iris123 replied to Damon's topic in National League Speedway
I find that strange. But things can change on that front.Would love to see him in the Brokstedt team which needs one or two youngsters.Maybe it is just that the Bundesliga dates aren't any good for him?Or maybe no-one has come up with a good enough offer?Although i doubt considering the meetings he was riding in last season that money is the problem -
Personally and i have said it before there should be a group of unattached riders like Gollob,Hancock,Holta,Liglad etc who could be called on when an injury to a no 1 happens. It is a nonsense to have a rider from an opposing team ride and possibly hinder his own teams chances.I also don't think it helps the attendances to have guest riders who people have seen a number of times already.A group of riders who don't tide for an opposing team don't make the sport look mickey mouse and should i think help boost crowds if they are seeing someone who doesn't want to ride too often in the country.Would it make it harder for teams to sign a number 1 in the first place as more top riders opt out and hope for the guest option though?

Ben Barker In Trouble With The Police

Doesn't it say it all about someone.....the title is pretty damn clear. It is obviously(ha ha) a topic of no interest to this poster.....but still they have to have a look.Someone must have forced them to open it up and read it all and then have to post ffs!!!! I guess i must be strange because when i see a topic like horse racing, cricket or many of the other topics of interest to others but of none to me,i just don't open them up !!! -
Ben Barker In Trouble With The Police
iris123 replied to madame muck's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
DDon't see anyone claiming it is.If you can point to any sensationalism here please do.The title say's Barker in trouble with the police and the evidence backs that up.All pretty straight forward. No outrageous claims at all -

Cant Bspa Organize Woman Speedway Race?
iris123 replied to coban78's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Quite a number of girls/women in Denmark and Germany.Think a relative of Kenneth Hansen is riding 80cc.Also quite an exciting and pretty pair of twins just moved up onto 500cc in Germany under the wing(so he say's) of former world champ Egon Müller. But i heard they are going to take it very careful and might not actually enter a meeting until the end of the season..Normally though it seems that once women reach their early 20s they give up.Nanna Jörgensen in Denmark,Nynke de Jong in Holland,Jessica Bilgenroth in Germany.I was quite impressed with Bilgenroth once, but she had an accident and was never the same i think. Also remember being quite imressed with one of the Frenk sisters on a rare visit to Longtrack. Most do have a decent technique.I only remember one girl who really couldn't slide the bike and just gave a bit of gas down the straight and took the bend in about 3 straight lines........more often than not she finished a meeting with 2 or 3 points though as at least she did finish every heat whereas some of the guys fell off trying too hard -
How Do Foreign Riders Afford To Race?
iris123 replied to Soul Crew's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yes,but your point about horseracing is a little strange as surely there are plenty of horse races at various levels for Henry Cecil or any other trainer to enter horses.Surely he doesn't enter everyone of his horses into big races straight away.He gives them the right competition for their level? And if it has been proven they are not top class does he still persist in entering them in classic races? -
How Do Foreign Riders Afford To Race?
iris123 replied to Soul Crew's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
But you have said they are in the NL,so they have a job,at the level that is right for them i would guess.I doubt any employer would keep persisting with someone he knows can't do the job he wants when there is an alternative that maybe or definitely can...... -

How Many Heats In A League Meeting ?
iris123 replied to rusky's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
That sort of things happens all the time.Just look at the World Cup,European Championships,Champions League etc.All teams have qualified from the previous year/season etc.The team that qualified might be quite different from the team that actually competes, but does that devalue the competition or winners? Not as far as i have heard even if at least in club competitions there might actually be a better team in Europe that season that didn't qualify because of a poor season previously.....nothing can be absolutely perfect, but these competitions and the Speedway GPs are as near to it as possible under the time constraints -
You mean it won't be on the above channel? or do you mean the GPs? http://www.sportenkort.dk/article/speedway-gp-flytter-igen-tv-kanal

How Many Heats In A League Meeting ?
iris123 replied to rusky's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
After all that has been said on the subject over the last year or more, here we are.......Sid hates the qualifying system.Presumably because the riders he thinks should be in the GPs haven't made it.But then it seems he hates the wildcards, because they are hand picked.I guess he wants a system where everyone goes in the qualifiers, but only the riders Sid likes are allowed to get through What we have is the fairest system we have ever had and what we have ended up with is probably one of the strongest line-ups to compete for the World title.......ever!!!!!! All we need now are tracks that allow riders to compete regardless of which gate they are on.Luck of the draw shouldn't come into it and i hope it doesn't play too much of a part in determining the outcome. The only thing that needs looking at are the tracks chosen and the preparation that is done on them -

Isn't it though.Someone(might have been Mies van der Rohe,Le Corbusier or another foreign architect)said "God is in the detail"......and this seems to prove them right.Nice one -

Oh yes.Can see it now....old boy comes in wanting a Shaker Cabinet and protesting at being led out the back into a video booth -
Yeah that Sky logo was just too lairy....shouting out of the screen throughout the meeting. The Eursport one is at the moment a decent change, although it could eventually get on my nerves as well.

I think the Eurosport logo in the corner was a big improvement on the Sky one.Who provided that needs a pat on the back.Great job all round imo

Great piece on Ice Speedway on the German equivalent of the Beeb(i guess) yesterday!!!!A quick history including a punch up at Inzell i think, but mostly focusing on Günther Bauer and then a piece from Uppsala including Bauer and Krasnikov relaxing in the sauna after the meeting.Very surprised to accidently see this yesterday.Just a pity as ever that the sport gets some great exposure, but the next meeting in germany will probably be next year,so a lot who might be interested will have forgotten by then!!!!! http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/beitrag/video/1867226/Ur-Bayer-mit-Benzin-im-Blut#/beitrag/video/1867226/Ur-Bayer-mit-Benzin-im-Blut

Shock, horror!!!! How did i predict that one? And of course one race does really prove the point..... Can't wait for Prague or that bit of cordoned of Italian motorway when Olly say's "Another fine mess....."No,i mean this is one of the best tracks i have ever seen, all the riders agree and just wait,if we get two decents races it will prove my point.......... -
National/premier League Riders Nationality.
iris123 replied to Mad Potter 2's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
A foreigner is seen as a bit exotic in some sense.A shame in some ways, but no getting away from the fact.I went with a lot of others once to see an Ipswich football match. Why?Because at the time i was caught up in the hype of the first Soviet football player in the football league.Sergei Baltacha. Now he wasn't one of the best ever footballers at that time or any other time, but it was something that caught the imagination of the media and the public because of that.He probably put 100s on the gate for that and maybe a few games after whereas if Ipswich had signed a British player of the same standard it would hardly have been noticed. -

In their defence it seems the problem/mistake came from the official source.A number of people/sites on facebook had the wrong result yesterday including one of the best Swedish speedway sites. When the mistake was pointed out they said it was a screenshot from the official source and they were standing by it......until they saw the original source had corrected the mistake
