  1. Ah Jacky, your english puts a lot of the natives to shame, believe me.And you have the excuse that you speak too much to Ian and me
  2. Yup.Saw him a couple of years back in Skaerbaek. He looked good. Not far behind the top Danes and little Arthur Sissis
  3. Depends on how you look at it.Imo Nicki and Jason are way off their normal standard and Emil hadn't improved on last year,in fact i would say he had also dropped off.So for me that means to win the series a rider probably won't have to ride at such a great level that previous champs have had to race over the past few years.Imo,if Hampel wins he will just be fortunate to be in the right place at the right time with the right amount of experience as the old guard drop away and the youngsters who will dominate over the next few years haven't gathered enough experience at the mo.And it is my personal opinion, but Hampel is no where near the rider Gollob was and will never be as far as i can see
  4. Kevin Wölbert rides in Gorican, while Tobi Busch must ride on the other side of the world in Balakovo.4,000km away!!!
  5. 56947, i think. That is the number in my sopcast and i think last tuesday was the last time i watched anything
  6. Really would be sad if Hampel wins this season. He is not in Gollobs league really and would go down as one of the worst World Champs ever imo.Isn't a shock that Crump has croaked. He always seems to after winning the title. But it is a major shock for me that Nicki is performing so badly. Not only in the GPs,but look at his score in the first leg of the Danish Final!!!!Changed tuner before the last GP,but goes from bad to worse.Maybe he is missing JJ in the pits? All for the youngsters coming through and winning this year, just please not Jarek.Kenneth,Chris H and Emil(though it isn't going to happen now....)would all make World Champs that could go on and win a few more titles
  7. Surely they would pick current World no.9 Zetterström???
  8. Hope you have a great time.It is a fantastic stadium and i know from experience that the people at the club are very friendly.Good luck with the weather as it is beautiful here in Hamburg
  9. Typical,i missed heat 2.Great stream, but tbh it is dull and one sided to say the least
  10. Think Vladimir is related to Viktor.Thought he was the son.Co-incidentally Vladimir toured the UK with Khlynowskij in a CCCP side in the 90s CCCP
  11. Yes.And i only saw too late the feed from Eskilstuna last night. But will have to remember to tune in on wednesdays when they are at home
  12. Thought DK4 have pulled out of showing speedway apart from the GP's due to lack of finances. If the meeting is on tv i would imagine it will be a local cable channel(one was filming the Denmark u21 v Sweden U21 some years back i remember)and not very likely on the net
  13. I'd have to admit to ignorance on that one.My interest in other motorcycle sports started and ended with Barry Sheene really.Do we have any British motorcyclist that gets plenty of media coverage and gets fans flocking to meetings like Sheene did?Has motorcycle sport as a whole dropped off the radar? If so it/they have passed me by
  14. Think it is down to lack of talent that captures the public imagination to a large extent. If there was one ideally two or three top class riders from Britain that could excite the general public and media then i think things would look far different.Same on the GP scene i think an exciting young Brit and really an exciting young Pole(maybe Swede?) would help the GPs.Sadly i can't really see anything on the horizon from any of the 3 countries to get the public flocking to speedway.Emil and Holder and even Darcy Ward might be the future World Champs, but they are really from the wrong countries to attract much attention.Even if Jepsen Jensen etc reach the top Denmark isn't going to pump that much money into the sport through crowds or sponsors. If only Gollob was 21 again or we had a Peter Collins or Michael Lee.......
  15. Don't think Västerviks attendances are down by half let alone more than half.Maybe 30%.But they have only had two home meetings or so.And i can't say what the weather has been like there, but judging by here the temps are 5 degrees below average for May.So a few good meetings with good weather and they will be on target again.Of course that might also be affected by whether they are riding at the same time as a big football World Cup match. But the World Cup will affect almost every sport in every country.Västervik aren't ,as far as i know one of the clubs that get 4 or 5 thousand Edit:Checking the previous 7 seasons for the only meeting that can be compared i.e Rospigarna i make it that this meeting of 1,744 is about 20% down on the average.I guess as the Dackarna meeting was only run until the 11th heat, that it was affected by the weather and so can't really be compared to previous season
  16. What the hell is that all about? Are they having a heatwave in Sweden?1,700+ people fainted!!!!!!! And Gollob won the Czech GP....... Give us a chance to understand it by putting it in some order and reasonable english
  17. Schäfer has said that you can't just pull out of Polish league meetings, but the meetings in Meck-Pomm(Güstrow and Teterow) are open meetings and Hefenbrock wouldn't be missed!!! .On the other hand Wölbert and Kroner have also had a fair amount of meetings to judge their form, whereas Hefe has missed a good bit of the season so far.You can see his point there, but it is a big chance leaving out one of the best riders(on past performances...).These meetings in M-V are important for Hefe.I think i saw a crowd of 8,000 mentioned for Tet and Gü normally gets a big crowd as well and Christians sponsors are local to these tracks Germany out yet again
  18. It amzes me that people think ex riders always get it right. From what i have heard most times if there are 3 ex riders commentating you get at least 2 opinions
  19. Surely that is a problem. He should know when to let the locals get on with it and when they need help.Prague is always a problem and to just let the locals get on with it is a mistake Give him a bit of slack at the moment, but so far there has only been one GP that was any good imo.But at least it is open
  20. So much for the hysterical tabloid style thread.Track looks as dry as a bone to me
  21. I do seem to remember something along the lines of what f-s-p mentioned.Thought Martin Dugard was involved saying riders don't need these meetings. Not sure if Kennett or Bridger was the rider involved though. It does seem to be GB that doesn't take these international comps seriously
  22. Certainly consider myself lucky to have been able to have watched Tommy race often at Plough Lane and even the once at Wembley in 75.Was a great speedway rider and always had time for us youngsters lining up to get his autograph after the meetings.A very special person RIP Tommy
  23. Thought he was one or two years younger.I remember watching Hougaard alongside Madsen,Klindt etc race against the Swedish U21 team of Aldén,Eric Andersson,Kling etc and Jonasson didn't seem to be a name at the time.So figured he must be a couple of years younger. But i guess the Danes were mostly a few years younger than their opponents.Patrick seems to have been around forever in the U21s!!!!
  24. Yup.Really if it wasn't for the fact that Jari and LiGlad tangled(???? ) Timo would have ended up with nothing in that heat.So 2 points was a real bonus
  25. Yes they are in the middle of nowhere.I love the tracks that have the picnic tables and benches at right angles to the track,so people have to twist round to see half the track.....weird,but they seem to love it
