Once Sheffield named Edwards in their 1-6, Edwards was no longer a “rising star”. Sam Hagon is the Leicester rising star, which makes Edwards ineligible. Again, Ipswich named Edwards as a rising star guest for Dan Thompson (Ipswich’ rising star) away to Birmingham, but had to make a late change and used Freddy Hodder from the rising star list after allegedly being told Edwards was ineligible to guest. Why is one club being told one thing and another the complete opposite?
-
That doesn’t make any sense.
-
Dan Thompson was in the 1-5 away at Birmingham, and Edwards was booked to guest but wasn’t allowed, hence Freddy Hodder was drafted in late in the day. Reasoning being, Edwards is no longer a rising star this season despite being on the list at the start, so can’t replace another rising star no matter what position in the team they are.
-
That was Ipswich. Edwards was booked to replace Dan Thompson when he had covid, but for the reason you say he wasn’t allowed so we had to use Freddy Hodder instead away at Birmingham.

That heat 7 ride from Emil was fantastic . Took Masters right out to the fence allowing Rew to nip past on the inside to join him for a 5-1. Superb stuff. -

That caught my attention too Badge. So nothing imminent, but MAYBE they have an agreement with someone to come in from the start of July.. -

All I can say is fair play to you Siggy, travelling with a poor forecast. Just wish our sport had more supporters like you!

I think the supporters of other clubs on here would be absolutely delighted if we jumped the gun and signed a 6 point replacement for Doyley We have to wait.

Just posted something very similar, and I agree.

They’re trying but it’s proving difficult. Just when they think they’re making progress and a deal looks done, something crops up and it collapses. So many stars need to align before a deal gets completed, especially for the top end fellas. Although it’s nice to finish top and I’m confident we would have but for the issues we’ve faced, but it isn’t vital. The cup final is in the bag, and the final isn’t until September, neither are the play offs. Personally I think it’s wise to muddle through with guests and rider replacement until a quality option further down the line becomes available, than to make a signing now that might not be as good just to get a full 1-7 out. The pots aren’t handed out until September.

Looking at the stats between last season and this so far, over all meeting (League and Cup) 2023: 10.73 2024: 8.74 So you’re currently looking at a two point drop off from last year which is significant. It’s not as if he’s suddenly “downed tools” over here and going through the motions whilst flying elsewhere, because his average in Poland has dropped off a cliff this year also so he’s definitely having issues by his high standards. It’s ironic that last year our strength was the most potent top end in the league whilst our bottom end was the weak link, this year it’s flip flopped! Emil struggling and Doyle/King/Ellis out injured, but it’s been the big improvement from Rew and Thompson in particular that has carried us through meetings! If we had Doyle and a firing Emil then I agree it wouldn’t even be a contest. Edit: other than his spell on the sidelines, Ellis has also been a big factor. Comfortably riding above his average which to be honest, we all expected him to do. Clearly a far better rider than he showed last year for Sheffield.

Rarely drops points at Foxhall, such a massive miss. Need that position sorted before the crucial fixtures. -

He’s always been poor out of the start, terrible gater. When his bikes are firing it can still launch him in to contention around first and second bend though but that’s not the case this year. -

Going to need the good Emil this evening, not the off colour one (by his standards) we’ve mostly seen this season. He looked back to his best recently, but was poor last week against Birmingham, and worryingly carried on that poor form again yesterday in Poland scoring only 8 from 6 rides. Let’s hope he’s not going through more mechanical problems because without Doyle, we’ll now need his very best. The Good thing from our perspective is that unlike last year, our lower order (Rew and Thompson) have shown great improvement and have carried us through meetings when we’ve had problems at the top end. -

You have to be careful to not jump in and sign someone you’re not entirely convinced by, just for the sake of getting a full 1-7 on track now. With their position in the table, it’s not an urgent situation frankly. Yes they will probably now end up surrendering top spot, but a top 4 place looks fairly secure. There is guaranteed to be more options (potentially better) open up later in the season when the riders’ calendar gets a little less busy. They MAY be biding their time to make sure they get the best possible rider in to replace Doyle for the cup final and play offs. -

I initially assumed he was heavily involved, but I assure you Guy Nicholls knows absolutely nothing about it. Chris has done this alone. -

Really pleased with Rew. We all knew he was a talented young rider and is now starting to show it. Much improved on last season. -
Play orf Bob might grace us with his presence a little earlier this year.
