  1. It wasn’t called off incorrectly, and it wasn’t called off the day before the meeting. The issue people have had as you full well know is that Lynn called it off the day before the meeting when the forecast wasn’t all that bad. The forecast then looked worse on the morning of the meeting, if it had been called then, then nobody would have batted an eyelid.

  3. Still persisting it down in Ipswich. On to the next..
  4. Things definitely change speedy. I still have vivid memories of Siggy doing battle with Chris Morton at Foxhall on what was a skating rink! Those days long gone.
  5. Now our meeting is off I’ll be watching this. I hope Norwich do it! It’s an easy away fixture for me to get there when the mighty Toffees are in town
  6. Absolutely I agree he’s probably not what you need. Just that a few seem to be questioning even the lower order riders such as Pawlicki. I accept he’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I’ve always liked him personally and when he has his machinery right and his head in the right place, he’s a fine rider.
  7. Could do much worse than sign Batch. Riding really well for Worky and on a sub 5 average. Could be an option for any team really on that average.
  8. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/u12b4ht3f#?date=2024-05-16 Forecast taken a turn for the worst overnight unfortunately. Looks grim. https://x.com/ipswichspeedway/status/1790994623151632464?s=61&t=WGGG_bqEEeOH78cfmD9Reg Off.
  9. 100% luck. Repeating myself, but forecasts change regularly. As you say the forecast this morning is now worse for Lynn today than it was yesterday, but it could easily have gone the other way and improved significantly. There’s just no way of knowing. Another example, our meeting at Foxhall this evening was under no threat yesterday whatsoever, a little rain about but nothing that would even slightly threaten the meeting. This morning, the forecast now for Ipswich is horrendous! This has to be in serious doubt now too. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/u12b4ht3f#?date=2024-05-16 Should always wait until the day of meetings for a more accurate forecast before calling meetings imo.
  10. Why would the meeting be rushed through to heat 10? If you start the meeting and there’s no rain during the meeting then you finish the meeting.
  11. An old cliche but you can meet a team 6 times over a season and get different results each time. Any earlier result means very little when it comes to the play offs. Belle Vue won both league meetings at Foxhall last year, but we walloped them by 18 in the play off semis. They finished top and were the best side in the league last year, we scraped in 4th but knocked them out in the semi finals. You just really don’t know when the play offs come around. Just have to make sure you get there first and foremost.
  12. I haven’t been to Lynn for a few years but I’ve read a few comments on here lately that it’s not particularly well attended these days with figures below 1000. Not sure if that’s accurate but if it is, is there really any wonder? Poor teams, season after season at the wrong end of the table, and a promotion that just seems to lack any drive and enthusiasm. The die hards will still go, but the flaky supporters aren’t going to see what’s being served up there and pay their hard earned. Lynn desperately need an injection of fresh blood at the top of the club, someone with drive and ambition, and fairly deep pockets always helps! I know they don’t grow on trees, but something needs to change there.
  13. This is what I mean. The forecasts can change on an hourly basis, let alone a daily basis. Who knows, the forecast in the morning could look even worse! But give it every chance and wait until the morning and see.
  14. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/u12gmt1fz#?date=2024-05-16 The forecast isn’t great to be fair. Light rain in the morning, heavy late morning to early afternoon, then a bit more light rain before turning dry. BUT, these forecasts change on a daily basis, it COULD look completely different in the morning. If it doesn’t change when everyone wakes up in the morning, then you can still make an early call off before anyone travels. We’re also at the time of year where temperatures are drying if any rain falls. Tyer pack the track hard in anticipation of the forecast rain, if it stops in the afternoon as forecast it should dry relatively quickly so then work on it, rip it up and prepare it for the meeting. It just seems nobody really wants to make any real effort at Lynn to get meetings on. Maybe I’m being harsh in this instance as I say, the forecast isn’t great but at least give it every chance before calling it.

  16. https://ipswichwitches.co/raceday-preview-birmingham-rowe-motor-oil-premiership-r2-h/ Nicholls again in for King.
  17. I’m not a fan of being able to change willly nilly either. All it means is the Champions will be the ones that are the most clever with their tinkering. They had a “window” last year, not sure why they dropped that this year. You also have the accusations aimed at riders who mysteriously ride way below their abilities who suddenly find form again when a tactical change has been made because the team averages have dropped enough to make that change. But while that game is allowed to be played, clubs will continue to play it. Edit: This is probably the reason most bookies won’t touch the Speedway market with a barge pole. They could offer outside odds on a team that look cr@p on paper, but within a few weeks suddenly look one of the strongest! Only 365 offer League odds at the start of the season.
  18. Oxford surely won’t be axing Janowski when his average is about to drop to just over 5, that would be mental. IF Oxford are about to sign a GP number 1 though, any of the bottom end will feel vulnerable..
  19. Gate 3 was a graveyard so I’m surprised Ipswich chose 1 and 3 in heat 15! All I can think of was they were banking on Doyle trapping off 1 but still, 2 and 4 surely was the choice? Didn’t matter in the end but it seemed like a strange choice to me.
  20. You’re right of course, end of the day 4th is as good as 1st before the real stuff begins. But, it’s still satisfying to win away at a title rival and although finishing top doesn’t win you anything, that has to still be a target. It’s nice to be the best team over the course of the season.
  21. Actually I’ve changed my mind, I wouldn’t take 50-40 at all
  22. Nicholls seemed to let the cat out of the bag a bit at the end there about the lack of team spirit in the Sheffield camp compared to Ipswich.
  23. Neither Emil or Doyle were on top form, only 8 a piece, so to still win is pleasing.
