Polish Speedway Postponed until May 22nd
steve69 replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Ekstraliga may run without fans but Liga 1 & 2 unlikely to race in empty stadiums as they get most of their revenue through the turnstiles etc whereas Ekstraliga get there`s via TV. -
Rest in Peace Blair. I found this story from 2001. Which shows what a hero Blair was on a cold November morning. "A YOUNG speedway star was beaten up by thugs who used his face as "a trampoline" after he tried to rescue a woman from being attacked.Edinburgh Monarchs rider Blair Scott, 21, was kicked unconscious when the thugs pounced on him and his 22-year-old pal as they tried to stop a fight between the gang and the woman. The gang broke Blair's nose and fractured his cheekbone from a series of blows and kicks and his injuries were so horrific his own mother said she didn't even recognise him.During the fight the woman managed to run away and call for help, while the gang of thugs later fled the scene by jumping in a taxi.Blair was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment. His friend, who was not named by police, was also taken to the hospital and treated for a suspected fractured nose. The attack happened early on Saturday morning as they made their way back from a friend's fancy dress party in Musselburgh.Officials at the Edinburgh Monarchs club, who compete at the speedway stadium in Armadale, West Lothian, yesterday extended their sympathies to the rider.Their spokesman, John Campbell, said: "He is one of our up-and-coming stars - it's a great shame."Blair is planning to travel to Australia next month to ride through the winter as a member of the British Lions team. His mother Margaret, who lives in Niddrie, Edinburgh, said yesterday she did not regret her son's heroic actions despite the injuries he sustained. She said: "They used him as a trampoline and made a real mess of him."His face was a complete and utter pulp and they weren't sure if his neck was broken. He's unrecognisable. I wouldn't have known him."He's pretty sore but he's keeping his chin up. I'm so proud of what he did."Police yesterday said they were anxious to track down any witnesses.A spokesman said: "The attack happened at around 1.40 in the morning on Saturday on the Edinburgh Road near the Shell garage."We are looking into the attack and are keen to find the men involved as it was quite a vicious attack on two young men."Founded in 1948, the Edinburgh Monarchs are one of Britain's most successful speedway teams. The club moved from Edinburgh to their new home in Armadale in 1997 and have won a number of the sport's biggest trophies. As he recovered last night, Blair said: "I don't want a lot of publicity making me out to be a hero."I am not afraid of repercussions. It's just that I just find the whole thing very embarrassing. I want to forget the whole thing.

Warsaw GP 2022 Saturday May 14th
steve69 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Does anyone know whether the original tickets will be valid for the restaging date? Kupbilet website shows the GP new date but when you click on the stadium plan no tickets are available. -
So well done to the FIM. As I have said earlier the first Injustice of this new FIM debacle of a scoring system. Dmitry Khomitsevich has his World Crown taken from him by a rider who scores less race points. What a joke!!!

Would be excellent if someone is covering the German Championship live on Thursday. Any ideas Dutch Grasstrack?

Hi Schwartz34, I will be in Inzell & Heerenveen - look out for the Union Jack flag at start-line!!! My concern is that at present the rider scoring the most actual race points is trailing in second. Yes, i agree that the system is trying to keep the riders bunched together but in reality I feel that the racing in the heats does not mean as much & hence the racing suffers where as the semi-finals plus Final maybe too competitive causing accidents & injuries. Which is why I believe the FIM changed it before. But hey-ho let`s see what the outcome is at the end of the SGP season in October.
-
I thought it was riders under 21 of any Nation.
-
The actual pts would give Dmitry Khomitsevich 106 pts with Danil Ivanov back on 103. (yet the FIM System gives Ivanov a 4 pts lead). 3rd would be a tie with Dinar Valeev & Igor Kononov on 89 pts. But FIM system has Valeev with a 9 pts cushion. How can that be better? Harald Simon has 11 more pts than he has scored. Franz Zorn 7 more pts. Biggest loser Khomitsevich minus 6 pts.

Disappointed that both Kazakhstan & Finland are contesting the iSoN ahead of The Netherlands who have both Jasper Iwema & Bart Schaap in the ICE Series & a Nation that appear to be bringing along their younger riders. Hopefully 2021 will see either a change or so sort of qualifying system.

Apologises to keep banging on about the new FIM Scoring System. If the scoring system was actual pts then Khomitsevich would have a 1 point lead in the World |Championship yet Ivanov has a 6 pts `Injustice Lead` And Kononov would be 3rd instead of Valeev. How can that be fair!!!! the latest INJUSTICE TABLE is ..............& I worry for the SGP season. Could go the same way as the 1st SoN Final where GB were robbed by Russia!!!! The problem that a rider can tweak his set at the pit gate if he has got it wrong. The other problem is that the meeting is delayed for probably near on 5 minutes. Not just the 2 minutes which are never put immediately after the false start.
-
I think with a more competitive field of 15 SGP riders you could & WILL get riders getting into a semi-final with 7 or 8 pts then finishing 2nd in Semi & winning the Final to get 20 pts. An example off the top of my head is Tai in Gorzow. He didn`t win a race in the 20 heats 2nd in semi & finished 3rd in the Grand Final. So on the new system would get 16 pts yet scored about 10/11 actual pts. Looking at the ICE GP so far the Russians have been riding within themselves in the heats to the detriment of the racing knowing they are ok for Semi-Final qualification then going for it in the S/F plus Final. I hope I am wrong with this new system but I can`t see it improving anything. Why change something that doesn`t need fixing!! A more pressing problem in my eyes is the starts!!! To me if there is a false start all 4 should be back to the start-line NO ONE should be allowed on the track & the pit gate should remain closed.

Injustice Table after 4 GPs. Under last years scoring the Series would have Ivanov leading by only 5 pts instead of 14. My Injustice Pts Table for FIM Ice Gladiators:- ie Actual Pts scored against new FIM scoring system........... Simon +7, N.Svensson & Hutla +3, S.Svensson,Zorn,Ledstrom & Iwema +2, Valeev +1, Haarahiltunen, Ebner & Weber 0. Koltakov,Ivanov & Kononov minus 1 & Khomitsevich minus 2. So after 2 Finals the FIM scoring system has given Ivanov a additional point lead in the Championship over Khomitsevich & actually penalised all the Russians except Valeev. Then given extra unearned pts to the non Russians. No wonder the Russian forum fans are unhappy along with me of course. Castagna I plead for next season "It should be points scored no more no less!!!" However, at least I have a plus today. I got my 3 Wroclaw GP tickets!!! Any comments or am I just being a grumpy old man?
-
And the first meeting ends with a 21 pts maximum to Daniil Ivanov. Net 20 FIM GP pts. The first injustice of the season & it`s only february!!!!
-
Are you watching Castagna??? Due to the wonderful (NOT) FIM scoring system we have a rider without a heat win in the final & another with an 18 pts maximum who can get a max of FIM GP 20 pts either if he actually scores a 21 pts maximum!!! What a joke. And I`m silly either to have already booked to see 5 Speedway GPs + 2 Ice GP Rds. What a wally!!!!

49-40 to Team GB. Paid max for Tai. One tumble for him when taken off at turn 2 but he is ok.

Should Jasper Iwema stay injury free I fancy him to get into the top 10 this season. Is putting a lot into his racing. Travelling regularly to Russia for training & league matches to gain experience. Looks to have improved his starting & appears to be more aggressive at the first turn which now compliments his fitness. Could even be the top Non-Russian this year!! Have & will continue to support Franky Z but am really liking Jasper. And a lovely bloke always smiling!!! Really looking forward to seeing him at Inzell & Heerenveen. Go `El Grillo!!!!`
