BERWICK v GLASGOW (CL) Saturday, June 13th (7pm)
screm replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
First meeting of the season for me at Berwick and I picked a good one. Super debut from new signing Jenkins, keep that up and he will surely be riding himself into Berwick`s team or someone elses. Hopefully the person taking away in an ambulance is feeling better today. What was the booing of Leon Flint all about. -
Update from Danyon Hume posted on social media. Just a quick update for everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. Tomorrow I’m going down to have all of the metalwork removed from my back. This is a huge step forward in my recovery and brings me one step closer to getting back on the bike where I belong. It’s been a long, challenging road to recovery with plenty of ups and downs, but for the first time in a long while, there’s real light at the end of the tunnel. Once I’m through this next stage, my focus will be on working hard to rebuild my fitness, strength, and confidence so I can return fitter, stronger, and more determined than ever. I can’t thank everyone enough for the support, messages, and encouragement along the way. It has meant more than you know. The comeback starts now, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

Update on former Berwick rider Connor Coles posted on social media. After 6½ weeks in hospital and rehabilitation, Connor is finally home. To say we’re grateful is an understatement. There were times when we didn’t know what the future would look like, so having him back home with us and the girls is the best feeling in the world. The progress he has made has been incredible. Just over two weeks ago he was largely bedbound, struggling to talk and eating puréed food. Today he’s walking, talking (all be it still very quietly) eating normal meals and continuing his recovery at home with his family. He still has a long road ahead, with ongoing appointments, exercises and rehabilitation, but today is a huge milestone and one we weren’t sure we’d see so soon. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, checked in on us, helped with the girls, visited Connor, donated, fundraised and kept us going through the hardest weeks of our lives. Every message, phone call and act of kindness has meant more than you’ll ever know. We also want to thank every single member of staff involved in Connor’s care and rehabilitation. Your support, encouragement, expertise and belief in him have helped get him home to us, and we will be forever grateful. Recovery doesn’t stop here, but we’re simply grateful to have our family back under one roof agai

Workington Speedway can confirm that Craig Cook has notified the club this afternoon that he is currently unable to take his place in the team, and will not be available for tomorrow’s fixture against Scunthorpe. We respect Craig’s position and remain in contact with him. Any further updates will be provided when appropriate, and we ask supporters to respect his privacy and refrain from speculation. The promotion is actively trying to secure a guest for tomorrow’s fixture. -

Rain is forecast for next Saturday for around 5pm, so no chance of a meeting. https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2655819 -

This morning was lovely, during the afternoon it did cloud over and over the last half hour we`ve had very light drizzle, but I believe with suitable track prep, this meeting could've at least been given a go and with a bit of cooperation from the teams and riders pushed through to some kind of conclusion. But the damage is done now, next time Berwick are riding at home, and there is rain in the forecast, the chances of the meeting going ahead must be in question. -

Update on former Berwick rider Connor Coles posted on social media today. Lovely news from Kirsty Coles about Connor A little update on Connor Connor has now been transferred from Stoke to Derby and has officially started neurological rehabilitation in a specialist centre. Although there is still a long recovery journey ahead, this week has brought some really positive steps forward. Connor is becoming much more aware and engaged, communicating more, remembering conversations and slowly getting more like himself each day. He is now eating food orally again with thickened drinks, has started rehab exercises including the exercise bike, and is walking short distances with support and a frame. Seeing these small milestones after everything he has been through has meant so much to us all. There are still many challenges ahead with speech, swallowing, fatigue and weakness down his left side, and recovery will take time, but we finally feel like Connor is taking important steps in the right direction. Thank you again to everyone for all the continued love, support, messages and kindness shown to Connor and our family

Riders don`t ride in iffy conditions these days. PS, suns out just now. -
Posted by Peter Kildemand on Facebook. BROKEN THE COLLAR BONE Unfortunately, Peter was involved in a crash on Friday night when his club Berwick faced Edinburgh Monarchs. Already in the first heat of the evening, Peter crashed and broke his collar bone. After a few days of waiting in the British, Peter landed yesterday again in Denmark and has today been to check up on OUH. They were going to operate on his collarbone within a week, but of course they are going to try to do it as soon as possible. So we keep our fingers crossed that Peter can have his operation soon, we hope to see him back on the bike again soon.

Kings Lynn ran R/R for him the other night so that should see him out of Friday and Saturday`s fixtures.

Bandits v Comets KO Cup 1/4 Final Sat 25/4/26 7pm

At the end of it all, I`m just delighted that Berwick are continuing their fine tradition of having a centre green presenter who think and believe that they are the star of the show and see the racing as an annoying interruption to their pearls of wisdom.
