  1. Must admit jenga, but if I was Steve I wouldn't have been very enamoured with your comments. I understand that you have a long family connection to Worky Speedway, and have usually supported them for many years. Unfortunately, whilst trying to support Laura, you have overstepped the mark in particularly regarding her brother Steve, when it would have been better to said nowt or couched it differently. I do hope you have made your peace with them, and continue to support the team in a supportive way.
  2. Get the water in early and let it soak in. If it's dark it's right for water, but when it goes pinky it needs more water. Simple. Mark Thorpe used to say that in New Zealand, they went in early, turned the taps on to flood it. and then had a barbecue. Stacks of water and put it in early.
  3. I remember booking Ollie Allan to guest for us at Lakeside in the early 00's, and he scored 1point and we pulled him out of his last ride. Shocking, and never got another booking after that. Was called SuperSub after that.
  4. Through the reckless way he went into the third bend, he was probably sitting in a damp patch in his kevlars when he crashed.
  5. That old chestnut Kenny, Try working at the track, and you could as well.
  6. The medics didn't put his shoulder back in because if the shoulder had been broken, they could have done life affecting damage with damaged/severed ligaments. I believe Kyle declined to put it back in himself.
  7. I think you have to see the video to know that Eric tried the impossible and took off. To me it looked like a stuck throttle, rather anything to do with the track. Wasn't a problem for the rest of the meeting was it. Consider the difference between Josh and Eric.
  8. You're a bit out of date. Tom Owen used to go over to the third bend at Brough in the 70's with a shovel, and dig a hole on the racing line going into the third bend and then tamp down the loose shale. He knew where it was, but others didn't, and it went on allegedly for a number of years. Incidentally, there is hardly a track that I have been to where there hasn't a 'problem' on the third bend entrance. Glasgow. Berwick, Newport had a double hole, Stoke, Lakeside, Middlesbrough, Worky was the first bend, to name a few. Don't forget that the entrance is the first bend for 4 riders together hit at full throttle before they taper out, and can chose their own racing line.
  9. Well in the last couple of weeks, 2 Kamikazi rides by 2 riders in about third place, deciding to do a full blast in a straight line have tried it and got hurt. Nowt to do with the track which you might be implying, just stupid tactics at the wrong time. There are 4 laps to each race, but some want it over during the first lap and in the last two weeks 2 riders have learned to think a bit more next time. I could ask how many riders have been badly hurt on the second bend at Owlerton. Incidentally I talked to one of the Sheffield riders tonight after the meeting, and he absolutely loved it.(note to oneself of his name for next year I think)
  10. Heads up for 13year old Archie Freeman of the Newcastle Gems who currently leads the 150c class undefeated in the two previous rounds.
  11. Jade still rides Grass TG. I think Wells has duel nationality with both New Zealand and the USA.
  12. Interesting. Not the way I heard it, but what you have written could well be the reason,
  13. He's caught the bug then . Looks like Gavin Parr is replacing Jade Mudgeway in the Uprights second half.
  14. I heard that Havvy was prepared to take the cash, but still run the club which didn't fit in with Ged's intentions.
  15. Ah, it's all good fun TG, but they are right what they say. They've even surprised me at times with such strength that you feel at times they are all capable of scoring 7 or 8 every meeting. Not bad for a year of 'consolidation'.
  16. Apparently 8 years since he last rode. I am sure with his Dad doing the settings he will get the silencer to work. Then change them. ,
  17. He was at Armadale last Friday riding for my NJL Gems team, and Yes he has filled out a little bit.
  18. A bottom of the league affair with riders missing. Edinburgh tracked Elliott Kelly instead of Ace Pijper at 4 and Gavin Parr replacing James Hitchen at 3, whilst Newcastle were without No 1 Josh Embleton, who had gone down sick that lunchtime, and despite desperate attempts by just about everyone in the league a replacement was not found. So it was going to be 4 man versus 3 man teams until Willie Lawson(ex Gem in 02 and 03) was spotted in the pits for a runout after the meeting. He was approached and agreed to ride at no 1 for the Gems, but due to his history excluding him from the NJL, it was agreed that he could ride, but his points were not to count in the Gems total. In the first race Willie showed his class, but unfortunately his bike spluttered in the lead and his race was over. Archie, riding Edinburgh for the first time, found it awkward to ride, but still managed to take the heat. In Willie's next two rides he showed that he could be a force in higher competitions completing both in good style and times. Dale Pate crashed out in heat 1 landing badly on the back of his head and shoulders and was withdrawn from the rest of the meeting. In the circumstances Edinburgh ran out easy winners. Pate spent time in hospital after the meeting and was released but got home late at 5.00am on the Saturday morning, and did not appear in the opposite fixture on the following Sunday.
  19. It was only last year that we started with only 1 ambulance for cost reasons. I championed many times at BSPA Council/AGM meetings that it should be mandatory to have two Ambulances, but other promotions usually came back with costs, and that they had a hospital close to their track like Sheffield and the previous Glasgow.
  20. I think in normal circumstances the logical thing to do would be to bring in a new potentially big rider, and let him settle in like Bloom says above. But you have to remember the difficulties of getting the new promotion up and running in time for the new season, and it was stated that this year was one of 'consolidation'. In the circumstances the current Diamonds had had some cracking results at home, and a few near misses away. The racing has been good this year, and most riders have in fact raised their average, although they are tempered by the number of last seasons meetings have now been included
