  1. So what if the Leszno round had been the "one off" world championship. Nicki the best rider in the world this year and Greg not one of the best 4? Niamh
  2. Well I wasn't the one who claimed speedway pay rate were in line with other 2 wheeled sports... Niamh
  3. I understand HTC Highroad were paying Mark Cavendish several million dollars a year for example; and the top MotoGP riders are all on multi-milion contracts too. Niamh
  4. I've given the source, if you want to suggest different figures please do quoting your sources. Niamh
  5. Add it up- wages, equipment, travel costs for oneself and employees etc. Even if you want to say the expenses are inflated by 20% that still means the net income for a sportsman at the top of his profession is peanuts. Niamh
  6. There was an article a while back in MCN analysing Nicki Pedersen's income/expenditure and total income was quoted as £250k of which £125k went out in expenditure. The simple fact that riders are riding in multiple leagues is a good indicator that the rewards are not that great. Niamh
  7. I suspect that the figures just confirm that some riders actually pay to be in the series. But if some people think that negative income is not as bad as those incurring are claiming, then so be it. Niamh
  8. So the rider has to pay travel and accommodation for himself and his backup team from the prize money. That makes it look pretty paltry, I mean win every round and you'd get £77,000 compare that to what Vettel the F1 world champ gets. Niamh
  9. So what do the riders get paid for being GP riders? not what they can get from their own sponsors, just what they're paid to be in the series. Niamh
  10. But it's his responsibility to ensure he's on competitive equipment and has a good support team in place. Mind I suspect that Bomber's GP budget is a fraction of some of his competitors, so perhaps instead of knocking him we should be sending him money so the he can compete on a level playing field with the rest of the GP riders. Niamh
  11. Bomber and Freddie didn't get wild cards for this year. Niamh
  12. Well with bomber at No. 11 that's him in The problem with the riders that come through the challenge is that even though they've earned the right there always seems to be at least one that isn't GP standard. Niamh
  13. Yes I expect what I type to be what is posted. This is a grown up forum so I'm surprised that you suggest that there are so many sensitive walllflowers that automatic bowlderisation is deemed a good idea. Just imagine I'd used a well known phrare for get your act together, now the bowlderisation engine would have changes the message to get your rubbish together and totally changed what was said. The sooner the auto nanny is killed the better. Niamh
  14. Unless you are suggesting I am not aware of the phrare I actually wrote. Niamh
  15. Sure, what I wrote has been changed, and whoever did it doesn't have the common decency to own up. Now given that what people write can be changed how can we trust that what anyone appears to have said is what they actually wrote? Niamh
  16. If I choose to use a well known colloquialism I expect it to remain as it was written Niamh
  17. No rubbish Sherlock And do you think they'd pay BSI/IMG the same fee if they dropped 10 of the rounds? Niamh
  18. So a drop of about 30% in ticket sales. You're changing what you're saying! Last time you said you doubted Sky would cover the series. Niamh
  19. So you are effectively saying that it will cost BSI/IMG money if they don't include a brit in the series. Probably the biggest argument in favour of bomber getting an invite which they will justify by his podium finish. Niamh
