From a different Studio 2 mile south of where the action is due to unfold, I can report that its raining and looks grim. Praying for a rain-off as I cant go tonight as yet another wedding ! -
Agree weather is the key and it looks a bit grim come 16:00. A meeting I hope to attend given the disastrous outlook for weddings and family events I have in next few months.... will be gutted if cancelled but Im preparing for the worst. Lovely and sunny right now!

Been waiting months for first sniff of speedway and enjoyed what I did see once the track had been sorted. Mellgren had a typical slow start, Nelson looked like he had never been away and Garrity was as brave as ever. However the delays put a dampner on the day. I left during the heat 12 stoppage thinking another Ambulance change-over delay but got home to see that racing continued.... how did they manage that ? They said Lambert had a fractured ankle so naturally thought another hospital trip. Oh well. Kasper looked understandably rusty. If Lambert does have a busted ankle, whats the thoughts on a replacement ? Use up the spare points ? Hopefully Jason will bounce back. I like the potential of this Rye side and its a shame injuries have hit so soon. Got a wedding Saturday so gonna miss Somerset visit. -
Personally, I like the look of this side. Lambert was very poor in his first few outings and you wondered why Len has bothered - wobbly was a good description . He was much improved by the end of the season and produced some exciting racing and impressive scores.... so happy to have him back at reserve. A big No1 would be the icing on the cake. A 7.2 EL average should open some doors, but who will Len pick ?

Rye House V Ipswich 6th October
Rteyp replied to crazysue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yep me. Actually in my opinion some good racing tonight, crowd was down but not the worse I've seen. Engine failures and bike problems nearly gifted the night to Ipswich after our strong start, we gave up two 5-1's to 3-3s .The team dug in at the end and came through with some great passing. Every rider in the Rye team had their moment tonight, Rambo included. Well done boys. -

Really enjoyed last nights meeting, not a bad performer in the Rockets side last night, so credit where credit is due. Lambert had a good meeting as was always there or there abouts in his races, not flapping about at the back. Rumours around the track that Doolan will be a Rocket next year, wouldn't be too upset to see him if averages work at No 3 ? Im no expert on averages but basis of team could be - 1. ??????... Doylee (please), Chaz ? 2. Nelson 3. Doolan 4. ??????... 5. Mellgren 6. Kasper 7. Garrity Have to say that with Garrity back there seems to be more zest and hope in the side. Well done all. Looking forward to next year. -

Have to agree - its going to be close ! Win needed as need my speedway fix in October ...... -
Oh. Thought it would be better then the crap we saw tonight. I guess it will depend if we get a quality line-up.....probably not. Come on Shads need something to look forward to ! 2013 is a long way off.
-
Thought we would struggle, but not by this much. Bit of a come back but false horizon. Kasper can't gate (still) and has lost the art of overtaking too. How does he manage to fail at the gate every time ? Is it curable ? Why the extra laps at the end ? I know he is one for the future but would like to see some progress...just a bit. Lambert, well he did well in one heat but no longterm place in the team thank-you. Bunyan up and down. Ben ? - all been said before and I feel even with Garrity back in team I still think we would have been too weak for Redcar tonight. Josh a good guest and some gutsy riding in places. Anders also strong when equipment allowed. Can't win with only 2 riders. One home fixture left now against Edinburgh - looks like a big fat zero too. Roll-on Ace of Herts !
-
I'll be going too, however judging by tonights performance and last weeks home defeat I am less confident of a home win. Need to bounce back.

Rye House V Ipswich (pl)... 1st September @ 6pm
Rteyp replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well done Ipswich a good team effort, best team won. From a Rye perspective a poor night, Jason D and Anders aside - there was not much to shout about. Missing Garrity's bite and passion, Ben looks good for the Raiders but not on the same page for the Rockets. Lambert just looks lost and unstable, to be fair he got smoother as the meeting progressed but never really threatened - doesn't look the real deal. Kasper had impressed me in previous meetings but tonight he looked very ordinary, still poor gating but tonight no pace either. Previously he caught others up from poor starts but not tonight. Maybe just one of those nights. Worst meeting this year I have seen. -

Really enjoyed last night and especially Kasper's performance. Even though he didn't score many points his attitude and approach all seem right, with an ability to race. As Shadders says his gating was poor, however despite being last off the line he was generally up to 2nd by bend 3 ! Great to watch. Also his move in Heat 7 on Gathercole and Holder on bend 4 was amazing. Didn't think he'd pull it off. It briefly turned from a 1-5 to Plymouth to a 5-1 to Rye as Garrity followed him through - but couldn't hold it. At Cardiff for long-weekend next week so will sadly miss the Leicester match, but will be at the the GP . -
So - will Richie be staying after all ?
