It looks to me that everyone, Team Managers, Referee and crowd all took the details of the programme to be correct, It was only those not at the meeting who actually looked up the latest GSA's and spotted the mistake. I would assume some minutes after the heat was run, someone spotted the Internet/Updates going into meltdown and decided to check, and found out that what was being said on the internet was correct, and as a result made a protest. It's all a bit messy and will be interesting to see how the BSPA sort it out.

Seeing as there's no thread yet, I thought I would Start one. Expected Teams Redcar 1. Lasse Bjerre 2. Jan Graversen 3. Matej Kus 4. Jonas B Andersen 5. Stuart Robson 6. Ben Morley 7. Adam Roynon Somerset 1. Brady Kurtz 2. Leigh Lanham 3. Richie Worrall 4. Charles Wright 5. Josh Grajczonek 6. Paul Starke 7. Oliver Greenwood http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/14707/redcar-somerset-pl-15-30pm#ixzz3fPc6GWi9 Looking forward to seeing tonight's meeting, it looks like it's going to be the first home meeting since the team changes that will be held on a dry, slick track. Our two previous home meetings have followed downpours shortly before the start time, resulting in wet, grippy tracks. I would be delighted with a home win, but the Somerset top five are all capable of double figure scores around the Media Prima Arena, so it could be a good close meeting or a comfortable away win. A lot will depend on which Redcar team turns up, especially Roynan & Graversen.

I'm guessing, being new to promoting, he's made the same mistake all new promoters do, He trusted the information given to him by a fellow promoter in the belief that he was being offered help and advice.
-
I actually think with decent machinery, he could become more than a "decent reserve", he has something about him, he just needs the right help and guidance, Something he wouldn't/did'nt get at Redcar.
-
Good luck to the Lad, with the right help and encouragement he could become a useful team member. He's a lot better than some of his scores suggest.

The Most Secret Speedway Meeting Ever
pvm replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
??? Why would he not be allowed to ride? Don't they have a practice day on the Friday before a GP now. -
Brian Havelock announcing he was retiring, even if it was just at the end of the season, would give everyone the hope they needed..until then we'll just limp along until we are finally put out of our misery. I could go on to say all the reasons why things need changing, but I'm at a point where I'm no longer bothered, because I know things wont improve under the current management and nothing I put here will change that.

All these negative post's, I thought I would write a positive one, At one time, if I wanted to park in the car park, I had to arrive no later than 7.05pm, Now I can arrive at 7.25pm or later and still get into the car park. And considering the car park is one third smaller than it used to be, it's got to be good, hasn't It??

I think sometimes you just have to say "the best team won". Sheffield had 4 riders who tend to ride Redcar well, Grajczonek, Proctor,Garrity & Compton so we were always going to have to be at the top of our form to get anything out of the match and quite simply, we weren't. In circumstances like that all you can hope for is to see some good racing. The rain prior to the meeting helped, but the track grading during the meeting achieves nothing, they just don't seam to know what they are doing. For all the rain that came down, towards the end of the meeting dust was starting to appear.

I'm not sure how anyone could describe tonight's meeting as "Great". It was better than some meetings of late, some races were close, but nobody was ever going to pass anybody after the first bend. Most races were from the gate. When two riders are close but are both riding the same line it might look good, but you just know the places are going to remain unchanged unless someone makes a mistake, there's not going to be a big sweep round the outside as much as Lasse and others tried. The main change tonight was we gated better than Rye house later in the meeting.

Redcar V Scunthorpe Thurs 16 April

I think it's a lot more than 300, and its still climbing. It's going to take a lot of work to get them back, and I don't think the present promotion are capable of getting them back. I do worry about the long term future. -

Well, I'll be there, more in hope than expectation. I'm not sure if I'm going to see a speedway meeting or 4 blokes riding round a track. Based on the fact it's a bright sunny day, I'm guessing it going to be 4 blokes riding round a track on a concrete base with dust clouds billowing around. But, Aye Oh, one week it might be different. -
It's not something I would rule out just yet..

So what happens if they stop building when the 399th house is complete. I've heard of that happening in the past, although it was only something to do with providing a playground or something similar, so something that means the 400th house is going to cost millions to the developer, it makes you wonder.
-
Pity, it would fill the criteria of being neutral and a grand opening event, a win, win.
-
Just out curiosity, what is the timescale for building? I believe League racing is planned for the 2016 season, but I was wondering if the track would be usable, say for the Riders Championship in October 2015? or is 9 months to soon.

Sorry, I thought this was the Speedway section of a Speedway forum, doesn't Politics normally get discussed in the General Discussions section? The whole point of starting this thread was to get people's opinion as to how best the sport could make use of Boris' new found knowledge of Speedway. The fact that he mentioned the sport of Speedway would suggest that he was left with a positive impression of the fans, and hopefully gained a little bit of knowledge about the sport. It's something that the sport could build on, and get a bit of positive PR from. It never hurts to have friends in high places.

That was the thing that struck me too. I do hope that some of those 300 speedways fans took the chance to bend his ear a little.

Just watching Boris giving a speech on Europe, and his opening comments were about his recent flight back from Poland sat with a group of British Speedway fans coming back from the SWC. He then mentioned about not knowing what the sport of speedway was until that point, and the fact Team GB came last . Now that he knows about the sport of speedway, and it's fresh in the mind, might it not be a good idea to remind him of former London Teams, and maybe someone from the BSPA to invite him to Cardiff.
