2015 Gp Wild Cards
PHILIPRISING replied to arnieg's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
UNLIKE this year, after the final 15 permanent riders have been determined, any further changes during the 2015 season will be made by the FIM and BSI rather than promoting a rider from the Challenge (as with MJJ this year for example). -

SHE was in Stockholm when Nicki was still troubled by his shoulder. Normally only in attendance when he has injury problems. TAI was a bvit down after practice. Needs to get away and recharge his batteries ... which he will. Been a tough campaign with injuries, raising money for his charity, whole host of WC duties, etc, etc. He'll be back ... -

QUITE right and any attendees from Europe, and indeed New Zealand, will just be the icing on the cake. The Etihad stadium owners believe that they can attract a viable audience on the back of the venue itself. -
Darcy Ward

IF Ward isn't banned and available I am sure he would get a wild card whether he is a Monster rider or not... -

IF it makes you feel better thinking Monster influence the choice of wild cards go ahead. But they don't. Ward isn't the bee all and end all for them, Who is to say whether they will continue with his sponsorship anyway should he get a lengthy ban. Hancock, Holder and Woffinden doing a pretty good job for them. And plenty of other riders around should they want another string to their bow. -

SHADES of Pedersen/Holder two years ago. Opinion seems to be fairly evenly split on here ... unlike in the stadium! -

I HAVE no idea and frankly nor does anyone else until the FIM and possibly WADA determine what punishment if any Ward will be dealt. Even many within the FIM are appalled at the time this whole sorry episode has been dragging on. -

YOU are being cynical and, as previously stated, Monster have no influence on wild cards. Why would they? Have won the last four World titles without Ward anyway... -
2015 Gp Wild Cards
PHILIPRISING replied to arnieg's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
THERE isn't a German GP ... Emil still won't accept a wild card (at least not for the full season)... Ward a tough call with the hearing still to come ... BSI and FIM meet this afternoon ... right now the only one I would actually put money on is NKI. -

SENIOR moment ... forgot I was on Polish time so 10 it is. Would agree about having final round in Oz for the next five years. Also think it is a gamble for them too. -

NOT sure of the name of the stadium.. Nearer the airport than Western Springs. Haven't been there myself but have spoken to some who have who seem to think it would be suitable if Western Springs is ruled out for whatever reason. -

JUST come back from a 'talk-in' with over 100 TravelPlus punters in Torun during which they were asked to raise their hands if they wished to see Ward get a wild card (if possible) and it was almost a unanimous yes vote. I would also point out that Pete Adams went against the grain and said he felt Ward needed a significant punishment before being allowed back into the SGP. Nothing scientific but it was interesting that those who pay to go and watch were far more forgiving. -

WHY should it disrupt end of European season? Sweden and Poland will definitely have finished and if the BSPA have any sense they will ensure that British play-offs don't run until the end of October. -

Don't think that's the case. MORE feasible if Buckley doesn't use Western Springs for various reasons. As I posted previously, he hasn't locked the door and there is the possibility of another stadium in Auckland which would fit the bill. -

AGAIN asked a FIM high ranking official for a date for the Ward hearing and was told he didn't know and neither presumably does Ward, although he is here in Torun so will enquire. The length of time this has taken to resolve is utter ridiculous... an opinion echoed by that same FIM guy. -

The calendar won't be confirmed until next week but I would be very surprised if it isn't Daugavpils with Riga back in the frame for 2016. -

ANYONE who thinks that Monster will have or can have any influence on whatever decision the FIM eventually come to is barking up the wrong tree. I very much doubt that Ward is a big deal for Monster anyway.. Having (hope I'm not being too presumptuous here) had the last three World Champions in Holder, Woffinden and Hancock they are more than happy with that trio. Was actually very impressed at today's Press Conference at which Joe Parsons spoke eloquently about why Monster see speedway as the perfect fit for their products and their marketing strategy. And why they have renewed their contract for a further three years.
