  1. RIDERS don't spend any money getting themselves or their equipment there ... along with accommodation (three rooms) it is provided. Very much doubt there will be a SGP in NZ next year and if the Aussie ones comes off it will be the finale to the season in October.
  2. THROWING young riders in at the deep end will achieve nothing unless there is someone there who actually knows a thing or two about riding to help them.
  3. BUT Bydgoszcz is no Cardiff ... several racing lines, riders will tell you how hard it is too defend a lead because you can never be quite sure where the attack will come from. Darcy gave it his all, admitted as much, and Greg intriguingly said he could see Ward's shadow at times and used all his guile to win the race. As KT said in commentary, you would like to think other riders there took note of Greg, aged 44, fit as a fiddle, as fresh as a daisy and in the eyes of many actually riding better now than at any stage of his long and illustrious career.
  4. DARCY says he tried everything for four laps to pass Greg but the old master simply out-thought him all the way round. Masterclass from the maestro.
  5. THERE isn't a system as such but former SGP and SWC referee Tony Steele, a member of the Track Racing Commission, will have a watching brief.
  6. I thought he was wrong but my opinion carries no more weight than any other
  7. BIGGER inside ... plan is to site the pits inside the stadium and in full view of the public
  8. DON'T have to be named until after practice today ... same with practice tomorrow re teams for the Final
  9. THE Ethiad in Melbourne ... bigger than the Millennium with a roof
  10. JUMPING the gun ... contracts agreed but not signed as yet
  11. PROTASIEWICZ wasn't in Poland's named squad so not sure they can use him...
  12. HAVING watched last night's Sky TV meeting at Sheffield the Aussies must be running them close
  13. DON'T think the Showground authorities are very receptive to the idea
  14. THE situation regarding Holder is causing some conflict, quite understandably, between Poole and Piraterna which underlines the fundamental problems speedway has in running a competition like this.
  15. REPEAT what I said earlier ... don't think there was anything wrong with the track. Have you never seen a poor soccer game on the pristine pitches they now play on? Or a poor cricket test on a perfect pitch? Some times it is the performers rather than the stage...
  16. THERE is no winner's presentation after, for example, a soccer side wins a semi-final. It was felt that the rounds in KL and Vastervik are just that and that the only time there should be presentation is in the Final itself. Do take your point about pre-meeting entertainment but Buster was still working on the track until the presentation was about to start...
  17. BRAND new air-fence no installed. Floodlights going in ...
  18. NOTHING wrong with the track in my opinion. Poor racing doesn't necessarily equate with poor track. Great disparity in the standard of riders on this occasion. Practice certainly doesn't help but Buster Chapman and his team, with some heavyweight machinery, ripped up the track and completely relaid it between 2 and 6pm. No doubt had Lewis Bridger followed the right procedure he would have been afforded a ticket.
  19. ACCORDING to the promoter Vladimir they are ready to be installed...
  20. AND to think that not too long ago we wondered whether there would be any speedway on UK TV screens ... just recently Somerset (Friday), Cardiff (Sat), Leicester (Mon), Sweden (Tues) plus reports and Quest showing the SGP highlights show... and that's without internet streaming.
  21. COUPLE more up there now. Looking good... although we have yet to learn how the track rides but the shape seems excellent
