  1. GOT to get through two rehearsals of the opening parade yet! I understand it is quite complex but if all goes according to plan (!) will be very spectacular...
  2. NORMAL start time for SGPs these days is four minutes past the hour but there will be a longer parade at Cardiff so racers and royals is spot on with 5.15pm
  3. WILL pass on your comments but Copenhagen won't be on the calendar next year, being replaced by a new Danish venue. Of course the exchange rate doesn't help but agree the price of the programme was too high.
  4. FULL details of FanZone in Speedway Star next week but I believe it is closer to the station. Unfortunately the person at BSI in charge of the FanZone is off sick so haven't got all the details yet.
  5. DIDN'T fully appreciate the extent of the injury MJJ has been carrying until words with him over the weekend. Still has bags of potential and much too soon to write him off. MANY more years of Greg still to come hopefully. Pure joy just watching him ride in classical fashion. One for the purists...
  6. CONSIDERING how many fewer people are attending British speedway these days even a "stagnated" crowd is quite an achievement. See no reason why the British GP won't stay at the Millennium for the foreseeable future. It's a perfect fit for BSI, the Millennium and the local authorities and tradesmen.
  7. STUNTER 13 (google him) and a light show will form the pre-meeting entertainment this year. No musical acts. BSI have put their emphasis (and money) on the FanZone, including paying Cardiff City Council a princely sum to close of some of the roads.
  8. BATCHELOR didn't seem to have much trouble ... Darcy desperately needs a wise head in his pit bay.
  9. IF you really believe that then you must also believe in Santa Claus... so many crashes these days can be directly related to problems caused by the silencers.
  10. GREAT programme and Tai waved the speedway flag splendidly. Us old folk may cringe at just about every part of his body featuring a tattoo but the little girl at Great Ormond Street didn't seem bothered. The life of a speedway rider may not have come across as very glamorous (and it isn't) but it certainly reminded us of how tough it actually is.
  11. MAYBE wrong, but I believe any further replacement rider in the SGP will be chosen by the CCP bureau. They are already down to sixth (Batchelor) from last year's GP Challenge.
  12. HAVE already explained this ... British Eurosport's masters in Paris (Eurosport) insisted that sponsored equestrian and Le Mans events were screened throughout their network. On this occasion British Eurosport were not allowed to do their own thing despite their protestations. However, a compromise was found when their new owners (Discovery channel) made available the Quest channel. Normal British Eurosport service will resume in Copenhagen next week.
  13. NOT at all... even Nicki has admitted that on this occasion he should have been excluded but that he didn't deliberately 'fence' Zagar. It was just the consequence of his attempt to pass the Slovenian! However, I do think the lack of remorse on his part doesn't help. Zagar may have escaped injury but his bike was a costly wreck.
  14. LOOK where Zagar went into the fence ... wouldn't say that was halfway round the corner.
  15. NEITHER rider received a point from the race ... both were deemed not to have finished. Had the incident happened one lap sooner I have no doubt that the referee would have excluded NP and allowed MZ back in a rerun regardless of his subsequent action. Not sure that he can exclude a rider from a rerun for that reason. I couldn't find anyone watching from the pits at Malilla and after looking at TV replays who didn't think that NP was guilty of dangerous riding and that Zagar did nothing wrong prior to hurtling through the safety fence, which fortunately in this case did its job. Certain similarities with Holder's crash at Coventry which is still having repercussions of course. PLENTY of others come to mind, too... asked the watching Briggo at Malilla what his reaction would have been. His smile said it all.
  16. PROBABLY because they (Nigel and Kelvin) are in an open box talking over the sound of motorsport... not quite like football. If you amongst a noisy environment talking on your mobile phone I bet you shout as well...
  17. IN what way could Zagar have been deemed to have been equally at fault? If possible look at pix sequence on Twitter @speedwaystarmag and see whether you can tell me how Zagar could have avoided being run into?
  18. Continuing the pantomime villain theme ... "oh yes he did..." EXACTLY
  19. BRITISH Eurosport were 'over-ruled'on this occasion in their choice of programming by their French Masters at Eurosport who were obliged to show equestrian and Le Mans events on the back of lucrative sponsorship. However, Eurosport are now owned by the Discovery Channel who also control Quest and as a result an alternative outlet, which actually offered a larger audience, was provided. Normal service will be resumed for the rest of the season. My own view (for what it is worth) is that Sky will probably out-bid Eurosport when the contract is up for renewal at the end of 2015. Can you imagine how Sky are currently feeling, especially with the British Final being screened 48 hours after Tai Woffinden wins back-to-back GPs. Tai Woffinden, Greg Hancock and Chris Holder all voiced their displeasure at Nicki Pedersen at the post SGP Press Conference ....
  20. JUST lost my 'tweeting virginity' and posted some photos @speedwaystarmag
  21. THE Jury, comprised of President Wolfgang Glas, referee Marek Wojaczek and FMNR rep Krister Gardell, determined that both were guilty of "ungentlemanly conduct." YOUR eyesight must be very different to thousands in attendance...
  22. THIS one will run and run but can assure you that NP's fellow SGP riders are none too pleased with his antics this year. One aspect that tends to be ignored is the damage done to, and the subsequent cost to repair, Zagar's bike. It was a wreck. My own opinion of the incident is of no real value but didn't hear from one current or former rider in attendance who didn't believe that NP was way out of order, that sooner or later he is going to cause someone serious harm, and that before long retribution will come his way. INCIDENTALLY, have just seen a photo sequence that shows quite plainly NP kicking out his right leg into Zagar and his bike, which then prompted the Slovenia to bale out big time. SORRY but the camera evidence doesn't back that up. Nicki's right foot can clearly be seen in contact with Zagar. IF I actually knew how to post a picture I would do so ... any advice gladly received!
