Grand Prix Speedway In Finland 2014-2016

HUMPHREY ... you are normally brighter than this. Have already said that there won't be a Warsaw GP in 2013 but very much on the cards for 2014. Coincidentally, England's soccer team play in Warsaw next Tuesday and officially open the Friends Arena in Stockholm in November. -

GOING round and round again. You saw it with one pair of eyes and the referee with another. Nothing is going to change that. Or the fact that incidents on the first corner can constitute an unsatisfactory start. It's not just about what happens on the starting line. -

OR, as Craig says, it was 50/50 end he put both back. That was an option and he took it. -

WHY odd? They wouldn't have three GPs in Sweden. Stockholm has become available and has a roof and Gothenburg has a contract for 2013. What's so hard to understand? Perhaps your impression about Warsaw was wrong... DIDN'T know that. Know that he was born in Sweden but presumed he was still racing on a Finnish licence. You live and learn. -

MAYBE they could but what's the hurry given that Gothenburg still has a year to run. GP in Warsaw will involve PZM. DON'T get ahead of yourselves. This is not a done deal as I understand. But of course there is a vacancy for a Nordic GP now that Vojens have left the rota. But if you had to choose a wild card now surely the World longtrack champion would have a good shout. -

WRONG on both counts G&B Arena in Malilla to undergo some significant spectator upgrades over the next 12 months. True, Ullevi still has a year to run but wouldn't be surprised to see Malilla back on the 2014 calendar. -

TOO soon ... not all the ducks in a row. Domestically the PZM have enough on their plate at the moment. Much more realistic in 2014. -

AND there were particular problems in Berlin which meant that the track simply couldn't cope with the heavy rain. As SCB says, things have moved on since then. There will be a new temporary track at the Friends Arena in Stockholm next year and, in all probability, in Warsaw in 2014. -

NOt sure about Zagar as a winner but I take your point. But, maybe, two years down the line? Tai has potential, huge potential in my mind, and but he has to match what he can on a bike with what he does off it. Incidentally, JT, I'm not sure BSI see having a "sub-par" Brit at Cardiff is a seat-seller but Sky may view that differently. They are in no position to dictate who does or doesn't get a nominated place but would be quite within their rights to determine that without British representation the SGP doesn't warrant as much air time, and that would be detrimental to British speedway as a whole. Which is probably tied in to the view of others I have previously aired that coverage of the SGP series is important in the context of providing some inspiration for young aspiring (that word again) speedway riders in the UK. I have no evidence to suggest that is the case and, probably like you, think Sky must be as tired as the rest of us at the lack of British success but sometimes beggars cannot be choosers. NO, I didn't say it would be anyone's fault but his own but in this country we don't seem to provide the support for our own anywhere near as much as they do elsewhere. It's a British trait. -

ASSUMING (and it is no more than that) Hampel, Vaculik and Ward get spots, then I don't think there is a lot to choose between the other candidates. I do believe that Tai has real talent and that in hindsight (what a wonderful thing that is) 2010 was a bit too soon. But if he can build on that experience, mature (as Holder has done and Ward will need to) then Britain could have a genuine GP rider. He also stuck by Jawas for far too long (easy to say if you don't have to pay) like Bjerre. I note that he has been using GMs in Poland and doing much better. Give the kid a chance and maybe if we all got behind him he will come up trumps. His main rival for a place is Michael Jepsen Jensen but despite his achievements this season I think he is a year away too. And don't count Maciej Janowski out in the very near future. -

BUT if you read it properly you would realise that I didn't say it was my opinion but a view that is held in certain quarters. -

I THINK there is a reasonable chance that I know what aspire means. I might just as well ask whether you can read. So, let me try again... There are some people who take the view that having a British rider in the SGP series might help to encourage British kids, some of whom might not even have thought about speedway as a career, to ASPIRE to taking their place on the World stage, racing at venues like the Millennium in Cardiff, Parken in Copenhagen and Torun. It is a point of view but perhaps pandorum you are one of those who cannot and will not respect opinions that are not entirely in tune with your own. -

WOULDN'T argue that Holder was lucky but that is not the same as saying Craig Ackroyd was wrong. Lucky in as much as many other referees might have called it differently. But then many would say that he would have been unlucky had he been excluded. What this thread illustrates perfectly is that different people see the same incident differently from others. I fully understand and respect that, although there are many positing who don't accept that some people hold a different view to their own. Ackroyd had absolutely no doubt about his decision. He called it as he saw it. He is an honest man and doesn't deserve to be castigated, especially when there are plenty who would have done the same. -

DON'T forget that the choice of wild cards (or nominated riders as they should be known) is made by the FIM in consultation with BSI/IMG and the opinions of GP Race Director Tony Olsson and FIM Speedway Director of Sport Ole Olsen will carry considerable weight. My own view for it is worth (not a lot!) is that Vaculik has a much stronger case than Michael Jepsen Jensen but we will know soon enough. -

PERHAPS it is you who should be looking in a mirror? Easy to throw such views and words around on here, most of which are totally distorted, and knowing full well that Craig Ackroyd cannot defend himself. I don't travel with him but I can tell you that is neither weak nor timid and certainly didn't need a change of underwear as you so eloquently put it. If the incident was as clear cut as many of here believe then you can argue that the harder decision was the one he made. Not quite sure what is this old boys' network you are talking about and if I had thought Craig was wrong would have said so. But I don't and haven't. -

BECAUSE first bend incidents are related to the start in that particular context. You see this all the time, riders clashing on the first bend and a rerun being ordered. Simply do not accept that Ackroyd did anything out of the ordinary. Pedersen tried to clamp down on Holder, as he was entitled to do. Holder tried to keep going, even with his front wheel over the white line, as he was entitled to do. Result... a racing incident that the referee decided was not the sole fault of either rider. He did watch TV replays but immediately felt that they confirmed what he had seen with his own eyes. We are going round in circles here now. People have made up their own minds, quite rightly, and we will just have to agree to disagree. -

THE incident started on the first bend ... the official verdict (I get that in my radio at the GPs from the referee via the SGP secretary who sits next to him): unsatisfactory start, all four back.
