BUT who is going to pay or the production costs? ARE you seriously suggesting they don't describe what is happening?
-
BUT, of course, not everyone will agree with the criticism and that might include those in charge. Just saying ... NO idea but having dinner with Sainty tonight so will ask him.
-
VERY unlikely. Probably the best the BSPA can hope for is that BT Sport continue, which seems likely, and contribute more towards the production costs which currently are at a bare minimum. Incidentally, flagrag, the director last night was a 'stand-in' and had never done speedway before. Steve Saint, who you referred to earlier and is in charge of the TV production, does not actually direct. That is usually in the hands of a guy who did the role for Sky previously. There were all sorts of problems at KL last night. Unlike in the Sky days, there is no "studio" for Kelvin and Nigel and yesterday their position, next to the referee, was changed very late on because Mick Bates did not want them in such close proximity. Post-meeting when interviewing the riders Kelvin couldn't hear Natalie and she couldn't hear him, which is why the finale might have appeared so truncated. But we should be grateful that BT are prepared to show speedway on a regular basis and stop nit-picking when people are doing their best with very limited resources.

BRANDO also doubles as TV floor manager ... another cost saving. This production is being done on a shoe-string compared to Sky and that is the only way it will continue.

King's Lynn V Somerset 7/8/17(£10 Adults)

DON'T think they will make a judgement call on one meeting, good or bad. Viewing figures have been very acceptable for both domestic and SGP speedway. -
And another third, beating Zagar again.
-
AND a paid win over the previously unbeaten Zagar

Buster Chapman - Is He Good For The Sport?
PHILIPRISING replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
THOSE sentiments, at least as far as the Premiership is concerned, were voiced in the Speedway Star office last week. Every year we suggest it cannot get any worse and yet it does. -

STRONG statement from Buster Chapman and the BSPA regarding Peterborough's decision to release Jack Holder to race in Poland rather than here this afternoon. But one wonders what sanctions the BSPA can inflict upon the Peterborough management for blatantly ignoring the rules. I can recall many years ago when the SCB were strong and had Michael Limb as Chairman, he told me that discipline was easy to impose upon tracks when they were making buckets full of money and wouldn't risk losing their licence but almost impossible when any serious fine could cause them to shut their doors. -

BEGINNING to think you are right. Premiership tracks bemoan the lack of meetings at times yet arrange some when the opposition is likely to be without key men. One has to wonder at times whether that is deliberate but surely those who pay to get in want to see full-strength teams whenever possible. Perhaps there were extenuating circumstances that I am unaware of, but why did Belle Vue go to Somerset on a Friday that clashed with the Danish Championship. Surely that could have been avoided or am I being naive? -
2018 Grand Prix Venues

YOUR last sentence is irrelevant... we were comparing Wembley and the Olympic Stadium with the Principality. And why use short transport links when you can be on the doorstep. The fact that the British fans like Cardiff is underlined by the fact that over 10,000 tickets have already been sold for 2018. I actually think the use of big multi-purpose stadiums in the SGP will diminish quite soon. With the dearth of superstar riders in both Denmark and Sweden and the fact that Melbourne is so far away from speedway's heartland in Australia will make stadiums like Parken, the Friends Arena and the Etihad unviable. There is little wrong with the SGP product but it is dependent on having quality riders and sadly other than Poland they are likely to be in short supply in the near future. Interest in speedway as a whole in Denmark is in a slump without Nicki Pedersen as a headline act and Sweden have never replaced Tony Rickardsson. Unlike in Britain, where fans don't desert their GP if there isn't a great expectation of a home winner, that isn't the case in Denmark and Sweden. Poland had a mini-slump when Gollob faded but there has been a huge resurgence there because of the new breed that have swept to the fore. Where is the next American, the next Russian or the next Slovenian or Slovak come to that. They don't exist and without figures to aspire to youngsters in all these countries will not envisage speedway as a worthwhile career. Sweden, by their own admission, have no outstanding youngster. Nor, at this stage, do Denmark. There are some Australians who might make the grade but are we seriously expecting them to be the next Leigh Adams or Jason Crump? In Britain we can but hope that Dan Bewley will rise above all the current disarray and step up to the plate but the system here, or lack of it, does little to ensure that is the case. Sadly the country with all the riders and all the stadia is Poland. -

DOUBT it. A roof is imperative. Imagine what the last GP Saturday in Cardiff would have been like without fans being able to get away from the foul weather and sit in comfort to watch. And for the actual meeting to be unaffected by the elements. Plus neither Wembley nor the Olympic Stadium can provide the fans with the sort of bars, restaurants, clubs extra in such close proximity. The only down side is the continued greedy attitude of the local hotels but as far as they are concerned that's business. -

WEMBLEY ain't going to happen and why should it? BSI don't want it and neither do the fans. But there will be changes elsewhere in 2018. -
YOU don't think having your mother 'helping' in the pits isn't a problem? This isn't sexist, believe me, but what can she possible do to help him? One of Britain's brightest, and there aren't many, talents needs to stand on his own feet. Does his mum go to Poland and Sweden where he has been performing okay? End of question time ...

Cardiff 2017
PHILIPRISING replied to james1234's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
OFFICIAL attendance for Cardiff was 40,800 ... tickets on sale much earlier for 2018 and over 10,000 sold already. -
PAID 16 from six for Jack Holder.... terrific performance.
