Peterborough V Berwick (CH) 09/09/2018
wealdstone replied to ellioth4's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Panthers have never had a rider you could put your money on to win a race, but they have several who are likely to win a race against the odds. Today with the injury problems, Ostergaard somewhat rusty after his lay off and MPT having an off day rather proved the point. -
Lakeside Future In Serious Doubt
wealdstone replied to KevH's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Seems to be a different understanding between Lakeside and Peterborough as to when the remaining fixtures between the clubs will be staged. Different things on each clubs websites. -

Any news on weather, raining here at moment? -
I was fortunate to see Ronnie Moore at the start and latter stages of his career, although the Jawa was taking over he stayed loyal to the JAP throughout his career. Undoubtedly one of the greatest riders of all time. Being a Wembley supporter I recall that BBC Sportsview sent cameras to Wembley for a match v Wimbledon specifically to show one heat between Brian Crutcher and Tommy Price for Wembley and Ronnie Moore and Barry Briggs for the Dons.

Any news on when Rigsby's forum will come out of maintenance mode?

Berwick v Peterborough 18/08/2018 @ 7pm

Credit to Berwick but a shameful effort by Panthers Scott excepted -
As Ric Frost once said BSPA are not capable of even operating a Burger Van successfully.

Was fortunate to see Ronnie Moore at the beginning of his career and saw him twice win World Final at Wembley

Peterborough v Ipswich Sunday 5th August
wealdstone replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
IMO Scott Nicholls has looked nowhere near a number 1 all season. -
Seems this man has all the necessary credentials to be co-opted on to BSPA Management committee
-
The signs are there, thought the agreement was that new stadium built first
-
Spivs and wide boys
-
Game set and match to the developers then!!! Never had any intention to build new stadium and probably this would mean total demise of Swindon Speedway
-
There are a multitude of reasons but one of the major factors is imo there are no Stars any more. In days gone by many would go to a meeting because a Star name was riding, and each team had at least one. It is a long time since we have anything like that situation.
-
Can there be anymore of a bizarre situation than when the mafia ( possibly the dynamic duo) are being roundly condemned by fans , press and riders but they still sit tight with two fingers up to their critics.
-
The BSPA itself in its present form was created so promoters were in control of the sport and could perpetuate their narrow self interest It is naïve to think it will ever be any different. They resent anything or anybody not part of the clique and drive out those that they perceive as a threat or threaten the status quo. Chapman stated last year that Rathbone had sold British Speedway down the river when in fact the BS PA have been doing it for years

I have heard the expression "fans" said a member of BSPA but am not quite certain what it means

The continuing decline of Speedway
wealdstone replied to wealdstone's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
There never has been much passing in Speedway even going back to fourties and fifties. Now and again a rider comes on the scene who had that ability but they were/are few and far between. Peter Collins and Chris Harris come to mind -
.Plenty of space and room despite closure of either end of stand. This by the way was a restriction imposed by EOES not Peterborough Speedway.
