Therein lies the trouble, Speedway has continually been dumbed down to the lowest common denominator and thence to the point of oblivion. Those like RF who had any vision or ambition and the means to carry it through have been driven out of the sport.
Arguably the racing is better than Elite although I would not necessarily agree. However its a bit like saying that Spurs, Arsenal or Man U fans prefer the Championship because the football is better.
It is a million miles from that which we used to watch. Moreover the Mafia drive and have driven anybody who dares to aspire to the inner sanctum or has any ambition or vision out of the sport.
It is sad that this forum and incident is now being used to score political points. Unortunate as Ryans situation is I can assure you it would be far worse if the situation was reversed and it was a British person trying to enter USA.
I am reliably informed that it was stressed to him when he sorted his own visa out he must also do it for his family. For reasons unknown he did not seemingly follow this advice.
I see the question of team suits as further evidence that Panthers are now firmly second tier. They certainly would be equpped with them if still in Elite League. Even the bosses see Panthers as second tier that is why when there is a clash with Coventry they all opt for Brandon rather than the Showground.
There are certainly a lot of Peterborough folk who don't mind or even prefer Premier league. for many their first introduction to Speedway was in that Division.
I and many others however take a different view.
The new season approaches and my interest is nil. Panthers are in an inferior league in a set up which is inferior to the rest of the Speedway world.
Panthers have a team comprised of has beens, never weres and never will bees.
God help us and Speedway in general..
Many have given their view that Premier League provides better and closer racing. That may well be true. However over many years I have seen the so called stars of Premier League or whatever the second tier was at the time finish three quarters of a lap behind the top men.
Therefore no matter how close the racing is it is very far from the best.
Neil,
I do not know you but have formed the opinion from your posts that you are an honest and genuine person. I am very glad that you and Mr Horton with others have made it possible for Panthers to continue. However I still have the view that we will be watching third or fourth rate speedway in 2014. I would be pleased to be proved wrong.
