  1. Sad some take the view that it is divine retribution for the cancelled fixture. Peterborough management get many things wrong and a lot of their problems they bring on themselves. However this fixture is not about winning or losing but the crowd levels acheived for an experimental change of race day, which if it does not come off could threaten the very existence of Peterborough Speedway. So lets have a good crowd and if some think Peterborough losing is a just reward for the past that is between them and their conscience.
  2. Frankly I would have thought that all tracks should honour Brummies Season tickets . It would cost very little and show some compassion by BSPA.
  3. Here is a thought: Suspect this is somehow related to Birmingham and the rider concerned also rides for another team. Ben Barker rides for Birmingham but is a Coventry asset, also Plymouth are making changes and complain about crowd levels etc. What do people think?
  4. You must be aware Neil of the concerns regarding the choice of guest for this meeting. Many may think that the chance of going through has been thrown away. Can you at least let us know the reasoning.
  5. Must be a cunning plan, although most will not be clever enough to figure it out.
  6. Rick Frost did not fail. He tried to do it and was shafted!!
  7. Rather when anybody other than Poole try to do it The Mafia make then an offer they can't refuse.
  8. What I maintain is that I have doubts that a change of race night would produce the extra number through the gate that seems to be required.
  9. Sorry Neil this means nothing to me. I come along A1 from Cambridge and turn off at Peterborough Services!
  10. Quite agree Thursday was Speedway night when I was at School. I really think the problem is the cost when bringing children. When I was at school you got in half price with programme included. You did not have drink or a Burger as they were not available and in any case most could not afford them if they were.
  11. The race night in my view makes only a marginal difference. As far as Peterborougjh are concerned the present crowds are in the main those that actually prefer Premier League, the stay aways do not attend as they prefer Elite. . On a wider note the Top Stars no longer are racing in this country yet the answer has always been dumb down the product and put up the prices. I am also of the opinion that The Grand Prixs have been a disaster for Speedway in this country.
  12. I really do not see that changing the race night is the panacea required. Tuesday may be bad for some and I appreciate it is difficult for those with children, however any night is probably not ideal for someone. A change of race night to Friday or indeed Sunday afternoon may well increase the crowds but not I fear to levels desired.
  13. Whilst I still go to all Panthers home Premier League meetings I would much prefer that they were still in Elie League. This is of course unlikely to happen at least under the present management. Come back Rick Frost but this time make a better job in the people you engage as your management team.
  14. Must admit to some sympathy with management on this one. They have come in for criticism for not using a guest at other meetings yet they did so against Redcar and it backfired dramatically.
  15. Of one thing you can be certain as long as RF has even the most tenous involvement everything and everbody will be paid!!!!.
  16. There has never been much passing or overtaking in Speedway. Even in the handicap days most of the handicapped riders made up most of the distance by fast starts. Many riders do not have the abiity to pass even on faster machinery due to the line that they prefer to ride.Peter Collins was an exception. The great Ove Fundin rarely strayed from the inside line. It is impossible to compare Speedway then and now due to the vastly different machinery now used. What is clear is that there were more Stars in years gone by and people would go just to see them. We do not have that anymore in Gt Britain with possible exception of the Turbo Twins and arguably Woffinden. Spectators at all sports are declining rapidly the only exception being Premier League Football, which probably goes to prove that fans still turn up to see the best. What IMO BSPA have done and do wrong is to fail to try to improve the product to attract more fans but cope by continually bringing everything down to a lower level whilst increasing the prices. To achieve this those with vision and funds above the norm have been driven away in frustration. One promoter when responding recently to a comment by fans regarding an aspect of his promotion remarked that it was all part of the show. Regretfully the show to which he refers does not exist anymore.
  17. Sadly BSPA is too blinkered and self cenred to devise any solution other than further dilute the product and increase admission costs yet again.
