  1. Decisive action from the management in my opinion. We are getting a rider we know well it should see us off to a good start. Nicolai is on a false average and in a relatively young team he will be an experienced head to have around. It may be shorter term but then again that had been the intention with Theo and he ended up being the cornerstone of the 2015 team. Averages are bound to come into it and if Nicolai's Polish ride means him stepping out then we may have the means to make another change. Andreas Lyager would be in my thinking for sure. Its an astute sensible move; probably not an inexpensive one either. But if we mean business in 2016 we mean business and we obviously do. Welcome back Nicolai and well done Rob and the team.
  2. To be fair I am with Taylor on this; you cannot come half way round the world half hearted about it or unsure. Its a fine line with this sport as we all know; and you are in it 100% (and even at that!) but certainly any less and it can bite back you back. So no; if he's not got that 100% desire I admire him for his honesty at this stage; and wish him all the very best for the future. This way we know now and can plan accordingly; I am sure that the management will be working hard to bring in a good replacement. As Rob has said; we might look back on this as being a key sign post along the road to achieving our ambitions in 2016. right then that's the end of that then cheers ..back to me Bumper Book of available speedway riders!
  3. NBT; this is just a bit of guidance for folks at this stage Not that theres something concrete with Rasmus Jensen just now. Sure management know about him; so my inference is get along to Rasser Racing; and look at his PL record and 5.92 ave; easy to see there is a quality option here.If his commitments allowed?; someone has said he has a Polish ride so may be an issue?. But he could step up to heat leader and be just the difference ?
  4. Disappointed over Tay Tay Racing ? Then get yourself along to Rasser Racing and cheer up!https://www.instagram.com/rasser_racing/ https://www.instagram.com/p/2Y71w9HVHa/
  5. Always rated Aspregen and on a suprisingly low average. Rides the EWR well; but more I look at it more Rasmus Jensen looks good value on 5.92 and can add to that. He's a second string that could breakout into a heat leader. Rebels credited him with lifting them end of season and was an excellent addition to their team for the run in.
  6. Just thinking rationally here and given the various if buts and maybe some names through up (including some I have thrown in) Rasmus Jensen on 5.92 looks appealing. Came back in end of season at Rebels and posted some decent scores. Could be one who could add a 1.5pts to that average. Mmmmmmm.
  7. Ashley Birks if he decided to return to speedway. Compton for sure; dont suppose theres any leeway with his 6.61 average. Rider I would like back is Andreas Lyager.
  8. One of the great things about speedway is when you can watch it under floodlights. In the old days; the lights hit the chrome of the bikes which added a extra dimension to it. The Shay Halifax was a great venue to watch under lights; there was a real aura around the place. Remember well Carter v Penhall for the Golden Helmet; when there was going on 10000 there to watch it; box office and under lights. Real sense of drama and spectacle.
  9. One thing I would say is that he did suddenly hit a purple patch for Kings Lynn Young Stars in the NL last season. But for me I dont expect from him then anything he comes up with is a bonus really. Throws the emphasis on our No6 to win the reserves races. If you look back at NL meetings once JB hit form last season he has beaten sone of the other draft NL riders including Ellis Perks; MattyO and Wajknecht so JB may be a grower. Remember Josh Bates arrived at Scunny as a real NL prospect and was quickly found out and dropped. I dont think that the 3pt rider can be replaced unless for injury this season. I wish Josh Bailey all the best with it; but it is going to be tough for him at this level.
  10. Perfectly fair comment; I am with on that too; but tasked to come up with something; then you do I suppose; and folk can take it or leave it.
  11. Club want to know what supporters would like to see at the EWR in 2016. Heres a few things.. Team race suits so we look like a team. Team shirts based on the race suit for fans to buy. Food Themed race nights in better weather BBQ night; Curry night; Pizza night? Free beer or soft drink ? Themed music 60s night 70s, 80s etc.. Give aways say; flags ? stickers Meetings filmed to assist ref with decisions and available to fans to buy Starting gate based on the one at Sheffield complete with coloured lighting rig Start grid girls ? Improved seating on home straight; consider cover ? and additional lighting ? When Glanford Park closes can we blag some of the fixs & fittings ? Always hand the chequred flag to the winning Scorpion for his lap of honour. When we win the riders walk into the crowd to take the applause. Be the No8 Scorpion ! . Get on the team buy a photo of yourself with the team ! Proceeds to Sting Fund. Could we stage the Scunthorpe Individual Championship; to find the master of the EWR ? Would be a nice variation from regular team racing as one off. Admission concessions buy 4 get one free. Discount on the gate admission if you support the team away (negotiated with home team) and vice versa away fans visiting Scunny ? Just one or two things off the top of my head as I type.
  12. Rob just verified on Twitter Nike to Glasgee is a full transfer and a good one for both clubs. Also we have to get our cameras ready for next Thursdays reveal of Scorpion7. Think its David Bailey ! Crash bang wallop what a picture what a photograph ! This one rides on wheels of steele ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPQyd_kELVw
  13. In Speedway circles transfer fees have never really amounted to much. Its not like football; remember we (Bradford) paid a record fee for Joe Screen back in 1994 from Belle Vue. Think it was about £30k and may still be the record ?. So Nike ? the cost of replacing part of the EWR air fence !
  14. So its us, Zummerset or Mons for Wajtknecht ? One in three chance of getting this right.
  15. Nike Lunna to Glasgowski on a full transfer I am hearing. Thats going to comeback at us sometime I reckon. Obviously we could not accomodate Nike in our declared 1-7 at the start of 2016. Is'nt he supposed to be doing National Service ?. Still good luck to him; he rode well at Glasgow for us last season. They look a bit top heavy Barker-Summers-Ritchie Wozza-Lawson so theres a bit of expectation on Nike; but it could pay off ?
  16. Still no answer to the Q I posed a couple of days back. Are we racing every other week in 2016 at the EWR or is it every week. I think fortnightly would see more of us following the team away; and the same for other teams and their supporters visiting Scunny. Folks would still want to take in their skid fix weekly no doubt.
  17. The 3pt rider ? with us, Monarchs, and Devils still to declare; here is an exercise I plan to keep tabs on next season. THREE POINT LEAGUE - as we stand based on NL form 2015. 1. Rockets - Ben Morley 9.63 2. Comets - MattyO 8.69 3. Panthers - Tom Perry - 8.58 4. Redcar - Lee Payne 7.94 5. Bandits - Liam Carr - 7.76 6. Witches - Daz Ritchings - 7.11 7. STigers - Nat Greaves - 7.08 8. GTigers - Dan Ayres - 7.05 9. Diamonds - Dan Phillips - 5.90 10.Scorps - TBA 11.Devils - TBA 12.Monarchs - TBA Obviously this may well change once we are underway; poor form; machine problems, injury (but sincerely hope not) etc.. My theory is; whoever wins this league will not be far off the PL title. Lets see.
  18. If that's the case; our No6 is on his own versus Devils; Rebels and Monarchs. No disrespect to JS but I would expect nothing from him at all. If he managed to beat the opposition reserve he's done his job. Thing is about the other three, and the likes of MattyO at Comets; Ritchings at Witches etc.. they could beat a No6 rider potentially. Do not under estimate the importance of the 3pt rider; the teams who get this right and the 3ptr becomes a 5ptr will be the ones to beat. JS would be one the lowest averaged NL riders coming in on a 3pt PL I would guess. that's Broadsider he's been on the sherry.
  19. I got the impression from Ellis's comment at the time that he had been dropped. Dont think he quit.
  20. Question; are we running EVERY SUNDAY or EVERY OTHER SUNDAY in 2016 ?. Some EL tracks seem to be going to every other week; and do think this has merit. Particularly if we are trying to encourage fans to travel to the other tracks. So say the team race Sunday and then away to Redcar following Thursday; may make folks travel up to Redcar knowing there was no meeting at Scunny on the Sunday. Net result; crowds could get a boost all round with more travelling support to get their speedway fix.
  21. No Adam Ellis aint a 3ptr as he comes in on his old 4+ PL average but Ellis Perks is a 3ptr. Granted Rob wont be held to ransom BUT the 3ptr can be the difference from also rans to serious contenders so for me worth pushing the boat out a bit. Would not suprise me to see Wilson-Dean and Wajknecht at Rebels. Would not expect either to be passengers.
