  1. Just classic Lynn at the minute. Announce that a rider is coming back into the side but don't tell you in place of who. If it's for Rose, pretty much as good a replacement as we could hope for. If it's in place of Jorgensen, then think that's harsh on him (especially as he was one of the ones who got one with it last week). If it's in place of Holder, then it's just waving the white flag for the rest of the season.
  2. Lambert got a 2nd in his final heat to finish on 12 but that's all I know.
  3. He's tweeted that he's riding at Lynn tonight so guess he's missing the Danish meeting: https://twitter.com/tjracing11/status/877448686678290432
  4. I'd have him at Lynn in a heartbeat!
  5. C'mon Danny, credit where credit is due. That was a good performance. Only the fourth 4 point away win of the season in the whole league. Now up to second in the league. Not saying everything is perfect but it's not as bad as some have made out. Plus Leicester are bottom ;-)
  6. Don't be too hasty. If what I'm hearing is true then it might change a few minds.
  7. Now confirmed that Carl Wilkinson guests in place of Kai Huckenbeck.
  8. Possibly no Huckenbeck on Wednesday as well. Practice for SGP qualifier the following day. What a **** day!!
  9. Is practice compulsory? I think from memory it is for FIM events so guess no Huckenbeck for Lynn on Wednesday.
  10. Simon's injury is a big blow. Any news on how long he is likely to be out for?
  11. Who would Gomolski come in for? Replacement for Klindt or Holder?
  12. Bad blow for Nick having one of his UK bikes stolen yesterday. Taken from his Facebook: "Unbelievable... This specific speedway bike as shown on the picture was yesterday about 5pm UK time stolen from my workshop at Nordelph, Downham Market, Norfolk, while my manager David was in the house! Witnesses has seen an unknown white tall transit van driving down the farm road and around the area . About an hour later the same van was seen after reports from police that goods was stolen from another farm 3 miles away. Please share! Absolutely shocking!" Not what he or the Stars needs just before a meeting.
  13. Hi Sue I'll be doing updates as usual on the KLStarsUpdates twitter account - https://twitter.com/klstarsupdates Feel free to use those if no-one steps forward.
  14. Sorry probably wasn't clear. Was referring to the point at which Knight tweeted that he had a team place. Anyway a mute point as I don't think Knight was ever in the mix for a place in the main Stars side 👍
  15. Can't imagine it will be Jake Knight. If he was going anywhere it would be to a NL side (either Eastbourne or the Young Stars at a guess). Think Haza has it spot on. As soon as I saw that Simon Lambert had dropped to a 3.00 point average, I thought he'd be in the team at the earliest opportunity (as we have 3.31 to play with).
  16. Well any decision about Josh has now been taken out of the club's hands as he's now taking time out from speedway. Hope he does return to the track at some point. Thinking about it, reckon the new number 7 will be a pretty obvious choice (unless of course the Stars make two changes)!
  17. Gutted but can't say I'm surprised. No other choice to take after Josh had made his decision. Hopefully that won't be the end of the Young Stars but like I said previously, the league needs to look at the direction it's taking.
  18. At the start of the season, the team assembled was pretty decent. Was never going to win the league but it would at least be competitive. Losing Hughes before a wheel was turned was a blow and I fear the injury to Phillips is the proverbial straw that has broken the camel's back. The side has been decimated and I just don't see any realistic options to come in and strengthen the side. The Young Stars have always had a philosophy of developing the next generation of riders for the Stars team. In the past few years we've seen Kerr, Rose, Lambert and Bailey all come through the ranks. They were never on big money but they always had a clear career path. Trouble is now, the league isn't really a development league any more. It's now a fully fledged 3rd division with some clubs chucking money at riders in order to clean up. I was told last year by someone who would know (and I trust) that one of the standalone clubs were paying a £600 guarantee to their top rider last season. He turned down PL spots because the money he was on was better and easier than riding in a higher league. Just plain wrong. Sport is about competition but it needs to be a level playing field. The NL pay scale is pretty much out of the window nowadays. Think the league has to decide what it's there for. If it's going to continue on it's current path, I fear for the future of not just the Young Stars but Buxton as well.
  19. Realistically be pleased if we get more than 35. After their changes they look stronger throughout the 1-7
  20. If you now tell me you have a soft spot for Raith Rovers then you might be onto something :-)
  21. I was saying to Gazc last night that he doesn't look comfortable with the Glasgow track. He certainly looked a better rider when I've seen him at Lynn and Peterborough this season. They must stick with him though. Firstly because I can't see any better 2 pointers out there and secondly, if you keep and support him you'll get the benefit in years to come. Using Danny Phillips at Newcastle as an example, he struggled to get a point last season but they stuck with him and he got paid 8 last week.
  22. Very much a meeting of two halves. Monarchs left for dead from the tapes early on but managed to claw themselves back into it. Impressed with my first sighting of Josh Pickering. Like all Monarchs struggled early on but then produced two storming rides to help turn the tide. On the other hand Sam Masters looked unbeatable early on but faded. For Sheffield, I've never seen Kyle Howarth ride so well. Seems to have pushed on this season. Sure they would have taken a 4pt defeat if offered at the start of the night, but they should feel disappointed after letting a 10pt lead slip. Todd Kurtz never looked happy and they needed him to step up in Heat 14 and he didn't. Overall, enjoyed my visit. Stadium has clearly seen better days and I know you can only work with the resources available but the viewing isn't great. Thought the 3rd bend was best but moved as the rain got heavier to the main stand. Difficult to get a good view of the racing from there as obviously best positions already taken. However, loved the bar area decked out with all the memorabilia. Made it feel like a proper base for supporters, something sadly lacking at Lynn.
