Chris Holder ! :- Friend Or Foe

What is the rule which says a banned rider cannot be transferred? I would think they could be, though potentially no facility available until they have made an appearance for their new club? -
Thought orlov was taking the piss when he broke the news, Edward Kennett 😅😅😅😅😅😅 Edward Kennett 😅😅😅😅😅

If u are going that route then I think u need to have an 8 team elite league with 2 home 2 away matches. 3 Brits per team and in case of fixture clashes it has priority. All EL teams also run either a 2nd tier or NL side. The 2nd tier would likely not have any GP riders though id still see a place for the likes of cook Harris etc. 4 Brits per side including 2 under 23 reserves
-
Test of their team is fine when Kurtz is back. Like KL there issue has been a number 1 averaging 4 points lower than they should be which is probably an 8 point swing per meeting.
-
I disagree with your comments on racing under the draft. Because of the heat format generally u had riders of a comparable standard and the racing was good. The issue was that they didn't address the skewed averages resulting from the format. This could have been addressed by anyone with a rudimentary understanding of maths. While there are now instances of 2pt no riders coming up against GP riders, that's no more of a mismatch than was common in the 80s when I started following the sport. Barry Ayres v Eric Gundersen. Glen Hornby v hans Nielsen.
-
Does anyone have any stats which would indicate that crashes are actually more common now than in the past. If they are is it tied to the fact that there are less "meaningless" meetings than in the past? Would also note that fatalities and career ending injuries seem far less common. In recent times I can think only of Rico and Ward of top riders. Whereas in the 80s/90s you had the likes of Gundersen sigalos Jan o Joe Owen and per jonsson retire due to major injuries, while the likes of ermolenko and Knudsen returned from horrific injuries. More injuries now but less major ones? Or less major due to medical advances? One other point I would make is that riders seem to get criticism for not wanting to ride in wet conditions (when racing is often rubbish) but also for taking more risks due to airfences (which are the sort of moves which make for exviting racing). Perhaps riders have things the right way round?

Speedway World Cup 2017
waiheke1 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I guess when you've only had two individual world champs it makes sense to claim your domestic league is your focus... -
i disagree, as a fan i want to enjoy world class racing, and the GP series provides that. I'd hope also that all young brits aspire to performing at that level. I dont see why the GP series needs to be viewed as an issue, rather than an excellent advertisement for the sport. UK speedway could learn a lot ino from the professionalism of the GP presentation. the quality of racing in the uk is generally pretty good, though clearly some tracks are better than others. but even leicester produced a good televised meeting.

Poole Pirates Vs Swindon Robins 19/07/17
waiheke1 replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
tbf, SS provided a balanced match report, what else did u want him to say? -
Out if interest, which world finals do u think provided racing comparable to this years gp series. I can only go off finals 68ish onwards (ie what's available to watch on dvd/online) but can only think of 76, 81 and 90 that stand out for really good racing, and not sure any of those are better than what we've seen this season or last season in the gps. I used to love going to the old qualifying meetings, but how many of those produced genuinely great racing? Recall a couple of good ic finals watched online from the 70s, the 84 and 85 overseas finals were pretty good.but there were a lot of average meetings as well.
-
surely on form this year Perks is better than Morris?
-
I'd also add that I cant u nderstand people suggesting changing the qualifying system for GPS. Look at this year's GP line up and tell me the organisers don't have it spot on. Look at the racing and tell me the organisers dont have it spot on, and aren't preparing generally great circuits. I genuinely think the calibe of racing in the GPs is as good as the sport has ever had - certainly better than the old World Championship finals/qualifiers.

1. Better presentation of meetings - entertainment should last tgwo hours, not 15 one minute bursts 2. Better marketing 3. A sensible and transparent average system, produced by people who have rudimentary maths skills 4. Proper fixture planning to minimise rider unavailability 5. an independent ruling body None of the above would cost anything significant. If we want to add wishlists: 6. track covers for all tracks 7. better track prep at some tracks 8. a decent sponsor to allow sides to bring back top riders the issue of course with this is it penalises further teams who start the season poorly, and gives a huge advantage to those who start the season well. I'd suggest getting rid of "like for like" swaps and say any tre-declaration has to be done within the points limit i think you missed the point of Arniegs post, which was in relation to riders letting team mates past, which is a different thing to throwing team points away which is what Simmo did - of course in those days bonus points were included in team averages. Much easier to artificially lower averages in the days pre the introduction of rolling averages.

New Averages For 42 Point Limit
waiheke1 replied to DunRobin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
given two posters noted it, can only assume the BSPA realised they made a mistake and reloaded the file? the column "c" seems to be highlighted green for KK, which is unique to him? -

shurely shome mishtake? if this is really his new average, then the BSPA have surpassed themselves yet again in their incompetence -

So if I hire a builder to build me a house. I tell the builder that I will pay him 5 times his usual hourly rate but a condition of awarding him the contract is that he will work no more than 10 hours a week elsewhere until the job is done. In your view that is an unreasonable restraint of trade? Exactly. And I'd suggest the chances of you getting injured and therefore unavailable for work as a result of taking additional work elsewhere is somewhat lower than that of a speedway rider. -
Chris Holder Average Farce At Kings Lynn
waiheke1 replied to mudflaps's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Surely if it was an average lowering exercise he would have gone through the tapes or faked an ef instead of getting excluded on two minutes? -

How is it a restraint of trade? Do you really think it's illegal to offer a contract a condition of which is a level of exclusivity about working for your company? Which law do you think this breaks? What if the poles reword the contract and simply says the rider needs to train in Poland each day unless the employing club agrees otherwise? -
Agree on KC but at the same time he was hardly a team man. Belive he described riding for Halifax as "me and 6 prats" or words to that effect.

Best (and Worst) Performers Season So Far
waiheke1 replied to waiheke1's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
For me Bellego is the biggest surprise of the season and if I were a Robins fan he'd be my rider of the season. But is he really the best signing of the season, when his average has dropped vs starting average whereas other signings have improved their average? -
Best (and Worst) Performers Season So Far
waiheke1 replied to waiheke1's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He's considered one of the signings of the season because everyone assumed he'd drop his average by a couple of points and he has dropped by far less. Need to remember that he was on a higher starting average than the likes of batch and schlein. As a kiwi aces fan I wasn't sure whether to be ecstatic or annoyed about that display! First kiwi to score a max at bells vue since Larry Ross? I'd also note that the averages font reflect any adjustment for riding as 2nd string vs reserve. And that display has likely pushed him up to a "d" 😅 I'd have assumed anyone looking for kk would have started at the bottom of the list... -
Best (and Worst) Performers Season So Far
waiheke1 replied to waiheke1's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Given that on average every rider was going to drop by around 17%, why would you not consider a rider dropping their average by only 10% to be over performing? Or are you of the view that over 70% of the league have underperformed? -
Best (and Worst) Performers Season So Far
waiheke1 replied to waiheke1's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
understand your point, but realistaically he could have been expected to average over 10.7 which would have been the requirement to be considered "performing as expected." And as a side note, the worst side you could have named, which actually would have hit bank on 50 points for team building: Zengota, Newman, Watt, Sronicki, Ellis, Kerr, Clegg. Combined 2017 GSA of under 24, and would average under 27 points a meeting. A number of those riders have been dropped by their teams. -

A simple look at how riders have achieved vs starting average. Have divided into 5 categories: A: Strong overperfomers - those who have maintained or improved their starting average B:Overperformers : those who have dropped their average by 10% or less C: Average performers: Those who have dropped their average by 10-20% D:Under performers: Those who have dropped their averages by 20-30% E: Massive underperformers: Those who have dropped their average by more than 30% AVERAGES GSA St Ave Ratio Ellis Perks 4.16 2.32 1.79 Zach Wajtkecht 3.49 2.56 1.36 James Shanes 2.57 2.00 1.29 Kai Huckenbeck 6.29 5.04 1.25 Rory Schlein 8.49 7.17 1.18 Brady Kurtz 8.76 7.63 1.15 Mark Riss 4.52 4.00 1.13 Kenneth Bjerre 9.22 8.22 1.12 Cameron Heeps 5.67 5.07 1.12 Daniel Bewley 4.32 3.09 1.11 Joshua Bates 5.47 5.02 1.09 A Nathan Greaves 2.17 2 1.09 A Nicolai Klindt 5.78 5.42 1.07 A Troy Batchelor 7.79 7.36 1.06 A Charles Wright 6.83 6.59 1.04 A Richard Lawson 8.29 8.17 1.01 A Nicholas Morris 8.98 8.97 1.00 A Jack Smith 2 2 1.00 A Fredrik Lindgren 10.04 10.09 1.00 A David Bellego 7.42 7.63 0.97 b Lewis Rose 5.5 5.8 0.95 b Kyle Howarth 6.76 7.18 0.94 b Danny Ayres 3.26 3.56 0.92 b Samuel Masters 8.08 8.88 0.91 b Jack Holder 6.22 7.16 0.87 C Chris Harris 8 9.21 0.87 C Jan Graversen 3.47 4 0.87 C Robert Lambert 7.59 8.76 0.87 C Jacob Thorssell 8.53 9.88 0.86 C Craig Cook 8.47 9.88 0.86 C Danny Ayres 3.02 3.56 0.85 C Jake Allen 5.03 5.96 0.84 C Hans Andersen 8.37 10.01 0.84 C Patrick Hougaard 7.26 8.71 0.83 C Kim Nilsson 7.76 9.63 0.81 C Josh Grajczonek 7.14 8.9 0.80 C Stuart Robson 5.67 7.09 0.80 C Ricky Wells 6.29 7.92 0.79 D Lewis Kerr 4.87 6.16 0.79 D Paul Starke 5.18 6.62 0.78 D Lasse Bjerre 5.11 6.64 0.77 D Justin Sedgmen 5.84 7.6 0.77 D Steven Worrall 6.5 8.51 0.76 D Scott Nicholls 7.02 9.23 0.76 D Emil Gröndal 3.24 4.39 0.74 D Erik Riss 5.02 6.85 0.73 D Edward Kennett 6.79 9.27 0.73 D Max Fricke 7.25 9.91 0.73 D Jason Doyle 9.75 13.41 0.73 D Robert Branford 3.29 4.6 0.72 D Nicklas Porsing 4.69 6.58 0.71 D Dany Gappmaier 2.8 4 0.70 D Bradley Wilson-Dean 3.46 5.02 0.69 E Daniel King 6.16 9.57 0.64 E Lewis Kerr 3.82 6.16 0.62 E Josh Bailey 1.22 2 0.61 E Chris Holder 7.43 12.53 0.59 E Rohan Tungate 5.27 9.03 0.58 E Jason Garrity 4.92 8.55 0.58 E Kacper Gomolski 4.2 7.71 0.54 E Krzysztof Kasprzak 5.95 11.08 0.54 E Adam Ellis 4.17 7.8 0.53 E Kyle Newman 3.3 6.31 0.52 E Grzegorz Zengota 4.92 10.91 0.45 E Max Clegg 1.75 4.04 0.43 E Adam Skornicki 3 7.22 0.42 E David Watt 2.86 7.56 0.38 E The strongest possible team you could have named would line up: Lindgren, Schlein, Kurtz, Morris, Bjerre, Huckenbeck, Perks, who have a combined GSA of around 56 points, and would average around 61 points per meeting (assuming 5 riders to Freddie, Kenny and Kai, with PErks taking only 3 rides)
