If Scotland decide on a yes vote on Thursday it will take a very long time for independence to be declared if at all. When they realise that the Royal Navel Submarine Base will close together with other Army & Royal Air Force, with the loss of thousands of jobs, I believe that the North Sea oil rigs are British owned and are outside of territorial waters, they will not have any military force to defend their land, worst of all how will they feel when, as 25% of the United Kingdom, then they would be liable for 25% of the national debt, I can't see Mr Salmond getting a vast amount of support. Glasgow & Edinburgh Speedway's will be safe for may years to come.

The Future Of The Elite League
orderly replied to SarahLapworth's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I am still of the opinion that for the Elite League to survive then the promoters must start to negotiate with their landlords with the view that we have Monday nights for all Elite League meetings, But I can hear them shouting that it is impossible, but it’s not impossible at the moment if Sky want to televise their meeting. It will also be beneficial for the fans that will be able to watch top English & continental riders in their teams and paying Elite League prices to see genuine top class speedway instead of paying top rates to watch mostly Premier & National League riders. The fast track system is not working except for the few riders that were going to make it anyway, but from what I have seen there are a lot of national league riders tied up in this fast track system that are losing their confidence and their heads are beginning to hang very low which proves that this is a step too far. In my opinion the fast track could have worked with both leagues by giving two British premier league riders the chance to prove themselves as reserves in the elite league and two national league riders as reserves in the premier league which is the way rider progression should work. -
Could be that the authorities could also look to remove his international driving permit if he is well over the limit???????????????????
-
The actual limit is 0.10g/l to allow for the naturally occurring alcohol in the body
-
There are too many riders going on the lash after a meeting even though they will be riding the next evening and even worse they will more than likely be driving their vans while still under the influence of alcohol and contrary to belief it not always the Aussies who are to blame and during my time as a medical officer I have advised many riders of all nationality's that if they are riding or driving within the next 24 hours then to refrain from drinking as they could well be over the limit if caught driving by the police or made the subject of a random alcohol test before the meeting and that if they failed either test then it would impact on their career as a speedway rider and I must admit that the few riders who have told me to "F" off and mind my own business have mostly been Brits. I am still of the belief that there are not enough random tests for alcohol & drug abuse before domestic meetings, I have offered my services in this field for expenses only. But told that there was not a need for it in British speedway but if some of the people with the BSPA, the ACU & the SCB would take off their blinkers then we could have this problem resolved within the next few years
-
This is to take into consideration the amount of naturally occurring alcohol in the body caused by the action of naturally occurring yeasts converting sugars to alcohol & carbon dioxide, but essentially there is a zero alcohol tolerance

if you live in a glass house then don't throw any stones. Darcy is a very young lad and living on the other side of the world to his family, and I understand that is his choice, but given the situation he was in what would you have done, I don't condone his actions, but I can understand the action that he did take, but first read my first sentence,he may well be a very mature lad as far as speedway racing is concerned but he may not be as mature in life skills, it could be that his removal from the GP was a blessing in disguise as his mind would not have been 100% on his racing which could have had dire consequences.
-
The alcohol limit for all riders, Promoters, and all other officials including track staff is ZERO. there would not have been time for a result on any other substance unless they have a Laboratory at the track. All riders know what the limit is and in my days of involvement in speedway I always advised that they do not drink alcohol for at least 24 hours before a meeting

You purport to be a speedway fan through & through yet you are unaware of the year that Exeter Speedway closed down, A little history lesson "Exeter Speedway closed down after the End of an Era meeting in 2005" therefore the penultimate year that Mauger-Magic was referring to was 2004... here endeth the lesson
-
Reminds me of the thrashing that Exeter gave Arena Essex I believe it was a score of 65-15 (back in the 13 heat format days) But these score lines are not helping the sport or the promoters with such high scores. you can't blame Somerset they came to do a job and did it These teams should be penalised for fielding such a weak team, and if Len Silver can't do better than this then he should be refused entry into the premier league in 2015 but offered a place in the National league. I used to respect Len both as a rider and as a very shrewd promoter but that is disappearing now and I feel that the time has come for Len to retire and enjoy the rest of his life...................

Any Doctor attending a speedway event must be British Association for Immediate Care trained (BASICs) all Doctors from GP's to Brain Surgeons require this qualification to attend any motor sport event, so the excuse that he had never attended a speedway meeting will not hold water, if he was correctly trained then he would know what equipment would be required -
Sky should adopt the pay per view for Sky Sports then we could watch the domestic meetings that we want to watch and not have football rammed down our necks all the time and it would work for me because after 50+ years supporting speedway I am now prohibited from attending meetings due to health problems

The Chief Medical Officer must sign the meeting certificate in the presence of the Clerk of The Course before the meeting can start so why was it signed, then some 40 minutes later it was found out that the Doctor/Paramedic did not have their trauma kit, when there should have been a kit to NHS standard carried on the vehicle, the only other reason is that the CMO forgot his controlled drugs for anaesthesia or life support. but I get the feeling that the medics are being the scapegoats -
Tai Woffinden's Views On Single Night Racing In Uk

Mike.Butler, on 18 Jul 2014 - 11:52 PM, said: Put the fans first for a change as without us there will be no UK speedway. If there were no riders then there would be no speedway & if there is no speedway then there is no point having speedway fans -
Tai Woffinden's Views On Single Night Racing In Uk
orderly replied to clambo71's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think that having all Elite League meetings on a single night is great, as Tai said in his interview when Sky cover a meeting then the promotion will bend over backwards to accommodate them, so why not hold all meetings on a Monday night I am sure that the landlords could be negotiated with and knowing that their stadium would be featured on TV with world wide rights every few weeks. Someone on this site posed the question asking “How can Sweden afford to have so many top riders in their teams” it’s simple maths if you only have one meeting per week then you only have to pay your top riders air fares once instead of two or three times a week plus the possibility of hotel charges, that will help the promoter to keep speedway viable with reduced overheads and the likes of Birmingham could still be racing For the speedway fans you would be able to see some top riders every week with the likes of Chris Holder, Greg Hancock & Tai Woffinden to name but a few instead of seeing an Elite League team consisting of 1 top rider, I Elite league second string, 3 Premier League Riders & 2 Fast Track riders. While I respect every rider in all the leagues I fell that the current format is not the best interest for what is supposed to be the best league in the country or in the interest of many of the fast track riders I feel that the fast track system should have been introduced into the Premier League in the first instance where the racing skills are closer. But if it came to the vote I would cast my vote for a single nights racing What a blinkered view, it's the top riders that are the best for speedway in general -

Berwick Vs Redcar (saturday 21st)

The only people who have to sign in that they are medically fit to carry out their duties are the riders who will be participating in the meeting, the only criteria that affects all persons involved in the running of the meeting including track staff and the medics is that there is a ZERO tolerance to alcohol & social drugs and in fact any member of staff from the Promoter to the track raker can be tested for drug & alcohol use. As far as the use of mobile phones is concerned I always carried mine with me to speedway & grass track meetings mainly to inform the nearest A&E unit and the ambulance control for that area that a meeting was taking place and inform them how many competitor's where taking part and the level of medical cover we had at the track together with my name and my registration number Why has a new thread been started to carry on knocking the Paramedic, it has already been explained that he received some bad news about his family, and as a Paramedic for over 20 years I have seen first hand, how shock can affect people in different ways, what would your reaction be if you received news that there was a family crisis, I would want to get to my family as soon as possible to the exclusion of all others. Give the man a break his family comes above everything else, even speedway. The person who should get the stick is the person who started all this with an unqualified post on a social media site and all of the sheep who followed his lead -

To start with Mr Lawson deserves to receive the same punishment from the SCB as Sam Masters received for a lesser offence -

If the message was posted on Twitter before, during or after the meeting is immaterial the post was made and even if it has now been deleted the damage is done, Look what happened to Sam Masters his season was to conclude early, when he received a 28-day ban from the Speedway Control Bureau following comments he made via his Facebook page after making a guest appearance for Rye House against Scunthorpe at Hoddesdon on 2 October. -
Berwick Vs Redcar (saturday 21st)
orderly replied to Boobs's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The Doctor or the Paramedic is answerable only to the referee or the BSPA & SCB not the promoter or the clerk of the course but in saying that I hope that the people on here & Twitter or Face Book have a emergency fund at their disposal because if the accusations that have been made against the Paramedic are wrong then there could be a lot of summons to appear in court in the post very soon, But if the Paramedic was found to be intoxicated then he will have to answer to the Health Profession's Council (Paramedics ruling body) and will invariably struck off the paramedics register and banned from practicing as a paramedic for life -

It would be great if a backup Paramedic or Doctor where available but the cost is prohibitive for most tracks & you can’t expect the Paramedic or Doctor to reduce their charges as their overheads are also very high, to have a Doctor at a speedway meeting that Doctor must be B.A.S.I.C.S (British Association for Immediate Care) trained which is over and above their training as a Doctor to add to this they must have malpractice cover and all the equipment required to perform their duties Essential equipment costs around £2,000, but experienced immediate care doctors will usually have between £10,000 and £20,000 worth of emergency medical gear and if the truth be known a Paramedics kit could well cost about the same and on top of this they both have to purchase the drugs necessary for resuscitation and analgesia and some of these have a very short shelf life. I agree with you that the minimum cover for each meeting which consists of 1 Doctor or Paramedic - 1 Ambulance + trained crew & 4 first aiders is not enough and needs to be reviewed as soon as possible because, as we have seen lately, if an incident occurs and due to injuries sustained a intravenous drip is set up or the patient has been given an analgesic injection then the Doctor/Paramedic must accompany the patient to the nearest trauma unit which could take a few hours and the meeting is lost -
Workington Vs Edinburgh 14th June 7pm (premier League)
orderly replied to Django's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If they insist that one ambulance is enough, (9 times out of 10 it is) then there should be a first aid room equipped to the standard of an A&E ambulance where patients can be treated and/or await the arrival of an NHS ambulance, But if the Doctor is required to stay with the casualty either in the ambulance or the first aid room then racing will have to be suspended until the Doctor is available or if there is a fully trained and registered paramedic and the ambulance is free, then the racing can continue -

Panthers Vs Plymouth - Koc 1st Leg (03/06/14)
orderly replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
can't see that you had reserve failings as your reserves scored 4 paid 5 between them, yet the visitors had a none scoring reserve and a RR so effectively they had a 6 man team yet still only lost by 2 points. in my opinion the Panthers where complacent that they could thrash the lowly Devils, but speedway is a great leveller as a lot of teams have found out to their cost. but it looks good for the return match at Plymouth
