  1. Excellent signing. I think we will see Steady retire, his speech at the end of the season had a farewell speech. Much as I love watching Steady and Garrity around Sheffield the amount of meetings both missed through injuries has stop us moving on the next level and winning trophies has meant we really needed to look at a new number 1. Grajczonek is someone could fill up that and does not have the recent history of injures.
  2. Not just rostrum he is good at winning as well. If you read his comments after all of his British Championship wins you would have heard him say thank you for the advice from certain people. 2014 British Under 21 title winner at Wolverhampton limited experience of the track listened and took the advice from Ty Proctor. 2015 British Under 19 title winner at Berwick struggle badly when riding at Berwick previously listen and took the advice of Simon Stead and storm to victory unbeaten. 2016 British Under 21 title winner at Sheffield Robert Lambert head and shoulders and looking like he was going to walk the final, Josh again enlists the advice of Simon Stead, and when it counts out guns Robert Lambert. Not only does he seek out for the best possible advice, he listens and can actually put into practice what he has been advised to do, not many youngsters can do that .
  3. I think that you are pretty spot on with what you are saying. He is far from the finished article, and with the average that he is on I can only see him make some improvements, if he can iron out the over riding he culd put some serious improvement on his average.
  4. Very pleased to see Kyle back, there was a point when I wondered whether or not that Workington might try and lure him back. On the subject of Josh Bates, he did have an in different season last season for Sheffield, but he started to show what he can do towards the end of the season and I think that the starting average in my opinion attractive proposition for the team and I would welcome him back with open arms.
  5. Sissis rumoured to be going back to road racing, plus like many he will carry a 4 point average.
  6. I think ts more of a case of a bit of an impatience on somebody's part. Mosthave taken a look at the signings so far and what is left out there and happy so far.
  7. Still plenty riders out there. 4 clubs out of 10 have not signed a rider yet where as we have signed 2. And over the last 3 or 4 seasons Rye House have been the first club in the league to announce their 1 to 7, and the early bird really did catch the worm then.
  8. After his end of season speech at the last meeting of the season I would say that it is pretty much nailed on that he is ready to retire.
  9. Kyle Howarth is owned by Workington, but in speedway that means very little, and riders will ride for the clubs that they want to ride for the clubs that want them. I would be very surprised if Kyle not in Sheffield colours next season. Josh Bates may well think about a move and maybe a move aay from the club may prove beneficial for him, but I do think that the family ties within the club may pull stronger and again I would be surprised if he did choose to move on. Chris Harris, is a pipe dream some Sheffield fans, he would probably prove very expensive, the one rider that did think that might be able afford him is Glasgow but looking at the first two signings I doubt that they could shoe horn him nito their team. Josh Grajczonek is a rider that would fit the bill for Sheffield the average is just about right and he rides the Sheffield track very well, I would be very surprised if the club are not trying to get his signature, but there are probably others that they maybe talking to Rory Schlein maybe Davey Watt or even Nick Morris. could be another
  10. I think it fair to say it is highly unlikely that Brady Kurtz will ride in the Championship this year, he only rode for Plymouth for a few months and left at the first available opportunity. He did say at the end of the 2015 season that he was not interested in the then Premier League. Chris Harr is is likely to want massive money and could prove very expensive. Grajczonek is the one that interests me and thinking of the team budget and the average he is on he would prove to be a solid number 1 for the club. Like most fans at Sheffield I am sorry that Jason Garrity has not been asked back, he connected well with the fans and had started to mastered the track and was capable of beating anyone around Sheffield, but injuries and some of his away form was not great at times, and the one thing that has held the club back over the last two seasons has been injuries to our top rider. As for Steady if anyone had listen to his interview at the last match of the season would have known that it sound very much like a farewell speech. Either way will be interesting to see how the Promotion go about building the team for next season.
  11. Poole will probably hold the key as to where Jack Holder rides next season as he is their asset and I think that they will tell him where he can go if he rides Championship speedway. Jake Allen is a possibility. Stefan Nielsen has sign as a asset for Swindon which would suggest that they are going use him for next ansd both Swindon and Sheffield race on a Thursday do that appears to be a ho go.
  12. So assuming they are the next two and add Kyle Howarth to the mix, that would leave us with 19.15 for the last 3 riders.
  13. I would say with Somerset and Plymouth out of the equation we stand as good a chance as anyone else. As Jack Parkinson Blackburn did reach an age where he was old enough to ride in the last years Premier League until September of this year surely he should be given special dispensation and come in a 2 point average.
  14. Okay then (1) Grajczonek 8.90 (2) Bates 5.02 (3) Bjerre 6.65 (4) Holder 7.16 (5) Howarth 7.18 (6) Parkinson Blackburn 3.00 (7) Greaves 2.00 Total 39.91
  15. Not that bothered to be honest only gone to the meeting for the last couple of years out of habit/ New limit team (1) Craig Cook 9.88 (2) Josh Bates 5.02 (3) Jack Holder 7.16 (4) Lasse Bjerre 6.65 (5) Kyle Howarth 7.18 (6) Jack Parkinson Blackburn 2.00 (7) Jack Smith 2.00 Total 39.89
  16. Not for me. Maybe but cannot see Redcar wanting to let him go.
  17. Who mentioned Newman? Todd Kurtz at Poole next season I don't see that happening. Todd Kurtz is part of the Drillerman racing team sponsored by Peter Mole who is a friend of the Kurtz family. Holder and Kurtz can travel up to Sheffield together from Poole, and the Aussie's are used to travelling long miles for meetings back home Poole to Sheffield would be a walk in the park for them.
  18. Something that our little group discussed last night Jack Holder and we came up with this team. (1) Kyle Howarth (2) Dimitri Berge (3) Todd Kurtz (4) Stuart Robson (captain) (5) Jack Holder (6) Josh Bates (7) Jack Parkinson Blackburn Get rid of Boocock and bring back Jack Lee Team Manager and Simon Stead as Coach.
  19. Congratulations Somerset. The best team over the two legs, and the best team won in the end. The damage was done last night at Sheffield when Somerset took a lead back down to their place, and overall this season Somerset were the best visiting team at Sheffield this season. And like SCB has said no many had Somerset to do so well this season, me included. Very proud of our team (what was left of it), to get where we did on the rider resources we had was nothing short of amazing. To knock two very good teams as Glasgow and Newcastle really did take something.
  20. Obviously I am hoping for a Sheffield win. But Somerset are such good team, already have a win at Sheffield so I cannot see anything but a Somerset win. Lets hope Sheffield can pull off the biggest shock ever and complete the Howarth Double.
  21. Reading the updates looks like the writing was on the wall for the Diamonds when Kus was injured, very few teams could get a decent result having to replace a rider in the top 5 with reserves. The Cup appears to be Glasgow's to lose.
  22. I don't think you can compare speedway to football, they are two entirely different sports. Footballers sign a contract to which will regardless them a guaranteed wage qin lose or draw. Speedway riders are paid on performance.
  23. In a sport that is obsessed with making every team as equal as possible it is very difficult to see any alternative. The only other alternative is squads, and with riders been paid on performance again I don't see how that would be possible.
