I loved watching him ride was a terrific rider.But i never felt in any of those years he was good anough to win it.Even when Michael Lee was on his game Carter for me was never Englands no1.Didnt see it wish i had remember Mike destroying Carter for the Golden Helmet at Halifax beat him 4.0 over both legs.

Collins at hyde rd was awesome if Collins at his peak had met a peak Carter i think out of 20 races hazard a guess 14 wins for Collins 6 for Carter even then i think Carter would of done well to win 6 races.Collins was so confident in his ability to come from the back i think at his peak Olsen and Mauger were the only ones who could beat him regularly at hyde rd.

Michael Lee aged 16 no 1 at BOSTON in the old national league some doing never happen now averaged over 9 reached N.L.R.C FINAL.The national league then was tough with the two Owens, Jackson, Etheridge ect all good riders.Lee and Carter no comparison LEE won honours Carter didnt not when it mattered anyway Lee was a great rider and was always great with supporters.

Started going in 1969 nipper then never see Jim Airey how good was he?Done me research was top class quick times over 10.50 average 1969 /70 / 71 retired early wondered was he as good as it seems.

I totally agree i come from Swindon and i loved going to the county ground.Had a reputation was exciting there thou fast.Would of loved to of seen Bob Kilby and Martin Ashby tearing it up for the falcons.My favourite tracks were Hyde rd Belle vue The shay Halifax Owlerton Sheffield County ground Exeter my regular track blunsdon Swindon great days great tracks.Scott Autrey my favourite ever falcon.

Wondered what great races stick in the mind of people of there own particular favourites? my five favourites of all time are 1.Ray Wilson v Martin Ashby run off 1975 British Final terrific race Ashby so fair both great riders.2.1973 England v Sweden at sheffield last race P.Collins E.Boocock Michanek T.Jansson never tire of watching that race. 3.Briggs coming from the back in 1969 world final to beat Mckinlay and Moore 4.Christer Loftqvist breaking the Swindon track record 1973 test match the Abbey was my regular track.5.Tommy Jansson 1976 beating Martin Ashby for the Golden helmet.terrific memories.

Craven was a freak really, terrific balance i never see him ride would of been a treat.Ten world final appearances brilliant but what ever order you had them in [ie]Craven ,Lee ,Collins, they would all of been greats in any era which is a mega compliment.

Michael Lee was by far the best 16 year old ive seen won the pride of the east at a young age, Carter was good but at 16 was scoring 2s and 4s.Lee averaged about 7.22 in his doubling up with Boston year beating the likes of Wilson along the way.At 17 was averaging well over 9pts some going at a tender age.

Would have Louis,Ray Wilson,Ashby,E.Boocock Carter, in front of Les Collins easily ,good as Les was saying that shows how many good riders we had Betts, Jessup ect.

Kenny Carter, a terrific rider where would he rate amongst the best of british riders?

Forgetting all what happened no its hard but on riding ability and achievements where would Carter rate?I personally rated him and enjoyed everytime i see him ride but was surprised how low he would be on my list. my top ten would be 1.Lee 2.Craven,3.P.Collins 4.Simmons 5.Louis 6.Ray Wilson 7.E.Boocock 8.Carter 9.Ashby 10.Betts.Wondered what peoples opinions were.

What a great world champion, speedway has in Greg Hancock a great person and rider.Jason Crump and Tomasz Gollob i liked and rated Greg again what a great champion we have leading the sport.Remember seeing Greg for Oxford at Swindon one thursday i asked Greg for his autograph for my boy and he had loads of stuff in his hands.I said sorry to be a pain Greg said dont be silly your not a pain that always stuck in my my mind.So well done Greg and good luck in defending your world title.

I also was there at Swindon to see Tommy and martin race in the helmet remember Tommy in these black with gold star leathers. Then Martin took some beating at the abbey.I wish there was some footage of Michael lee destroying Kenny Carter at the shay was also a masive michael fan.
