  1. After having 2 meeting in 4 days, its now over a month since Swindon's last home match. This crazy planning schedule might be to the Stars advantage in that the Robins riders have forgotten where the track is Prediction: Stars to lose 48 - 42 ( HL=30pts; SS=8; RR= 4). ....... To get a point here tonight would be a massive plus....
  2. As I expected, this was an easy Wolves win, but I never imagined it to be so one sided. To win only 2 heats at home is a disgraceful effort on behave of Leicester, but one has to appreciate just how strong is this Wolves side ?? To win away by that margin does the sport no favours. Lions supporters will feel uneasy the way their team folded against such onslaught, and no doubt will question their desire to go when results go that bad... They shouldn't feel too bad though , as I can see other teams falling to the all-round strength of Wolves. When it appears most clubs are struggling to assemble a decent side within the restraint of the rules and riders, This Wolves side has risen to the challenge to dominate. I can see this sport being a dreadful one sided affair.... and that's the last thing we want.....
  3. Once upon atime I'd be ready to drive to Swindon and think nothing of it. But them days are long gone. Where once you would have a fair idea on how to would turn out, nowadays we haven't a clue.... We could perform well and make a match of it, but on the other hand we could get hammered.... Depends which team turns up to ride.... And that's the big shame..... All us fans want is conviction for the cause, then we might start to believe again.......
  4. I don't think you can apportion the reason of struggling riders down to machinery it is far more complex than that. Riders like Hancock and Pedersen have been around a long time and their bike have always been fast or faster than most. But each year they get older, their desire has to be questioned and the competition is getting stronger, and Younger...... These first two meetings has highlighted this years strength in the competition, There some terrific races at the weekend, some very tough and hard fought. Somehow I couldn't see Hancock involved with these sort of races..... Just probably, this is the year when the likes of Hancock and Nicki will consider its time to call it a day.... But please don't apportion their problems to only the bikes they're riding......
  5. I think this years standard of riders in the SGP is the best ever. Most riders are capable of winning, Every race could be a final. There are no easy races and fortunes will fluctuate. To go into the meeting with any hope of success, a rider need of a fast bike is essential. It appears the GTR has all the power needed to be considered equal to any other available.. To proportion Freddie's success between rider and bike is difficult. Freddie has always been a quality rider, sometimes not scoring the points he deserved. It appears the GTR has given him a new lease of life where he is now one of the top runners.. It pleases me no end that Freddie is achieving this success, because he has always supported the British league, and I would much rather he come out on top than someone who turns their back on our Speedway...... Only my opinion: To answer your question, I think Freddie and GTR goes hand in hand...... 50/50
  6. If you cant finish in the top 4 of our league, you don't deserve to get a back door entry. I think having 4 English clubs in the competition to too many anyway... As for the speedway, it will depend which team turns up. If its the team from the first half of the Leicester match then we'll get turned over, whereas if its the second half team we'll win with points to spare..... Pleased to see Holder got on the pace at the SGP weekend. His first 2 rides were poor, but he sorted it out later with 2 good rides... Unfortunately it wasn't enough to reach the semi's .
  7. Surely to talk about a replacement for anybody now has to be rediculous. Why would anybody, Manager/Promoter or supporter predict any changes until we know what points we have to play with, only then would we be able to decide who could and who wouldn't fit.. Because of the history of these things, I don't have the confidence that the people in charge will bring in the right man needed to make us into championship contenders,, Mores the pity.. But, more likely or not, purse strings will be more important than the quality of the rider plus sometimes, certain personalities have previously clashed, so all these things don't go hand in hand when trying to choose the right rider....
  8. It was always going to be difficult for Bailey competing in the top league. I believe he has done relatively well and has shown a fare turn of speed. If he could sort out his gating he would be in the mix against most reserves. Once the races have started Josh has not problem keeping up the pace, but you cant compete on level terms when you are constantly slow from the gate......
  9. With hind sight, it is possible to see some wonderful and unbelievable scenarios. At the interval, I sat talking with a Lions supporter and said that they were sitting pretty. Knowing we had Lambert and Holder in most races, I wasn't confident of the other riders doing their part..... But that heat 11 was of paramount importance, Remembering Huckenbeck hadn't scored a point at this stage, so had he lost that ht 11 the Lions would surely have won. At the interval we were 8 points adrift of a Lions side that had ridden well. Their whole side had contributed to their useful lead. Probably had Nilsen performed as expected the match may have been over by that time. Their 2 consecutive 5-1's before the interval warranted applause. At that point we were up against it. In that first half we were woeful and only Lambert and Holder come out of it with any credit. Thankfully, Huckenbeck came to the party with 3 immaculate rides. and we were able to rescue a dire situation. I won't accept it was foreseeable with the way our team had ridden. Yes I accept gate 4 was a favourable start, but they still have do the business, and after watching that first half display I had my doubts.... I think Danny King deserves a mention. The Lions Captain led by example. Battled with Lambert every step of the way, was the only rider to beat Holder and his team riding in heat 9 was sublime....
  10. Sure was a strange meeting that turned out alright in the end. Was well pleased to see Chris Holder dialled in show the pedigree he processes. Robert Lambert was immense, but each of the others blew both hot and cold and I along with many others thought at the interval are chances of victory were slim . But, the obvious kick up the arse worked wonders. Huckenbeck then came to the party with 8+1 from his 3 rides, which turned the table in the Stars favour...... The lack of consistency was a big factor why the stars trailed by 8 at the interval. We provided 8 last places in the first 10 heats. That can't be good for team morale... I still feel we are some way short of a team with enough potential to challenge for honours. To do that we need riders who can be relied upon to deliver on a regular basic and not when the mood takes them. Whatever involvement Dale had in the motivation of the second half recovery I say Well Done to him.... But I don't , at this stage, feel confident of the connection between him and the motivation of the riders. No doubt time will tell whether he succeeds or not.... There were some pluses last night, the referee done well with his hurried use of the 2min buzzer, that was appreciated, although he missed Gomolski riding on the centre green later on.., The track was better than usual, Lambert proved it could be raced on if you put the effort in. Gate 4 was a massive advantage, and provided most of the winners.... After a sunny day it was nice to get a decent meeting in after a 3 week break.....
  11. I have loads of ideas , but they have been voiced so many time before. What we desperate need are transparent rules set in stone; Clubs to take advantage of the social media and promote the club and the sport, so fans and people are aware of what is going on. Promote the club to the people, and make them feel involved...... Assure us of good racing where VFM is the No 1 priority. What is so annoying, at Kings Lynn we have the makings of a brilliant set up.. We have no competition of big sport in the facinity. We have fans who would die for the club, and are desperate for success, 52 years, we have waited to win the Premier league, we are no closer now than we were all them years ago..... Surely we have learnt something from that time.....
  12. A proper No1 performance would make the job far easier. If our 1 to 6 are all firing there shouldn't be any problems. ...
  13. I cannot believe the Warnes family have been dropped like a hot brick.. For what they have done for the club, I would have thought they'd had free admission for life. Like you I have always thought there were far too many hanger's on (stewards) walking about with their blue vests on doing nothing. I could name 4 people that I know, that go every week for free and do next to nothing. They even have a program board to fill I the results... Surely the Warnes are a more deserving cause than some of them.....
  14. Surely Not !!!!! Whether he can afford it , is not the issue. It should be in recognition of all the sponsorship he has supplied... over the years.....
  15. Hi JC, Yeah, increditable days that was thoroughly enjoyed. No, it was not that we won most weeks but the effort and application put in by all concerned. Like you say, everybody wanted to beat us and that's what made it special. When it was decided to go back into the top division, I had hoped this approach would continue against stiffer opposition... In fact that first year back, (2011, I think) was a pretty good year. I know we didn't win every week but you could see that effort.. The 3 heat leaders of KB, Niels and Mads all showed that commitment that we the fans look for. Good Friday against Poole was amazing. The place was heaving and the atmosphere was unbelievable...... How can something that was so good disappear like it has.????
  16. Once upon a time, to me British Speedway was a religion. My whole world revolved round speedway. I can remember going to every meeting, home and away year after year. The rows it caused between the wife and I were countless.. I use to meet up with Alan Littlechild and off we went. It not as though we were going to win, but the fight and passion, the atmosphere, the excitement , the banter , made it all worthwhile. I remember one year going to Coatbridge and winning , next we were in Newcastle and got well beaten. Miles and time meant nothing. You had this feeling of belonging to the club. They appreciated you and you, in return stayed loyal with your support.... How times have changed. Even when losing, Alan and Cyril always had their finger on the pulse. The fans always knew what was going on and what they were thinking of. Now we are a club with possibly the worst communication with the fans ever. It is run as one big secret making the fans feel unimportant... If the promotion are as distant with the riders as they are the fans its little wonder they perform like they do., Peter Adams, with his finger on the pulse, has stolen a march on every club with his forward thinking. Just for once, I would have loved that to have been our team.. But good luck to them . Having won 26 out of their last 30 races at home they sure are looking mighty strong. That's the difference. between them and Lynn. Here the fans are aware of our short falls and are only to willing to suggest their opinions. We don't hear a Dickie bird from the club, not even a view or response or a whisper., Yet someone like Adams goes out and sorts its.... Me... It wouldn't bother me if I go now or not. I hate feeling as if I'm being taken for a ride...... All the good times have gone. We have pay good money to watch processional races, The generated atmosphere is false . The riders think their Gods and we have to bow to their every whim. Where once they would mix and talk with the fans now they cant wait to go.. Its a far cry to the sport that ruled my life for more years than I care to remember..... I feel sorry for the young supporters who don't know any different, At least my memory banks are full of all the good times that Speedway once was.....
  17. Christ !! you don't half talk some crap..... How you can defend this lack lustred approach to advertising is beyond me . This is nothing more than incompetence, at the highest level, and you are looking to defend them.. If the club cant be bothered to provide the information on a forth coming meeting, then why should the fans bother to go.... At a time when the social media is there for all to use it has never been easier to promote a meeting... All that's needed is 5mins in front of a computer . Probably this goes someway at to explain why the attendances are always dropping.... Years ago we always had updates of future meetings in the local rag, with interviews and photos too. No wonder the sport is just about dead ....
  18. We are in a unique situation, where teams were assembled using fictitious numbers to get some form of equality in team make up. This is not the usual situation. Surely the quicker you move away from these figures be the better. This 4 + 4 scenario would be ok if all the teams rode the same number of fixtures, but that is not the case. By persueing this idea of unfairness, we are creating more unfairness in the long run as some teams will be transferred before others. The season has started and the clock is ticking, the sooner this switchover happened the better so the league can generate a new set of realistic and fair figures. If we wait till all teams and riders have completed it could be end of June...... Another season wasted...,,...
  19. And this was the reason I suggested a changeover date, It would make the situation much clearer, It would be equally fair to all teams, enabling every team to be redeclared at the same time.. So simple......
  20. Hard one to call this, What on paper, should have been a relatively easy home win, has now becomes a massively important fixture. Although a win would be nice, the result is not as important as the way the team performs. and show everybody the united front that is essential, if the season is to be reckoned with.... The team is lacking is confidence, but a huge win would go a long way to rebuilding the supporters morale, if not the team.. They use to say ' Happiness is 40 -38 ' but we need more than that..... Prediction : Solid home win, ...
  21. I too, am of the same opinion as you.. In the past I have found it very easy to talk with Buster, and enjoyed a lot of banter with Jonathon . Was disappointed when he and Buster parted . They wanted to converse and were interested with your opinions. But with Rob Lyons I have always found he was hard work with his response being very brief and to the point. I have never spoken with Dale but have observed him many times. He comes across as a very nice, well mannered, educated man. I have never seen him run or rush about, never seen him flustered or excited. He comes across more of a school teacher, than a motivator come Team Manager.... If the team was cooking on gas, being a Team Manager would be so easy and anybody could fill the position, But when results and performances are not as they should be, the TM becomes the most important man. He would draw on his experiences and knowledge looking for answers. He would have experience of engines and bike set up, he would have experiences of the pressures the riders are facing. He would gain the riders confidence and be in a position where the riders would listen........ somehow I don't see Dale being that man.... I think our team of riders are capable of far more than we have seen so far.... so in that respect I don't see the need to make any changes.. All we need is someone to motivate them into a proper TEAM...
  22. I admire your attitude and yes its admiral the way you put in hours of work to support this team, but I'm surprised at your blinkered opinion of how the team is performing, We as a club didn't win the pairs, it was the excellence of Holder and Lambert, Next you will say we won the under 21 championship, when again it was Lambert individual ability. Yes we won at Somerset, but was eternally thankful to Craig Cook and some luck when it was needed. Our other three matches we have been dire. Not just beaten but thrashed out of sight.. How you can be happy with our start to the season amazes me.... If we, as a team, as fans, as Promoters can't recognise when things are going wrong there can be no hope. This lean spell will either fester or it has to stop now. I think the team is more than good enough to reach the play-offs but we need to start performing now with no excuses. And that's down to Management......
  23. In my time of watching speedway at Saddlebow Road, I have been privileged to have seen some fantastic racing there. Unfortunately the days now when the racing is good are few and far between.. Like you, I also think the problem relates to the shale being used..... The accident where Porsing being hit by a brick from the back of Neils last year would never have happened years ago. It appears that the stuff Lynn uses ( don't think shale is the correct word), is anything but ideal for the purpose. Buster must be embarrassed sometimes with the crap he hand picks off the surface when walking past the track.... Obviously cost must be a factor. But there must be somewhere in-between where we could get a compromise and much better racing..... I think Davy Watts would be ideal as a TM, linking up with the other Aussies in the team.., He's been there done that..... Worn the Tee shirt... Brilliant choice....
  24. Probably after reading Philip Rising damning verdict of AFA race track in todays SS, Hopefully Buster will do something about it.......
  25. The problems with Lynns start to the season is not all about Chris Holder. Fair enough he's not firing at the moment, but we have not performed as a unit this season and everyone could have done better.. Winning just one race at Wolves was a massive statement from the whole team that they are not doing enough. We need to have a united front and get behind the whole side. Holder included.... I am in no doubt the team will come good, ... I just wish I could see that motivation, that is so desperately needed to kick start our season........
