  1. I wasn't having a dig at Holder, just pointing out how the gates were ridiculously bias. Obviously he would pick the best gates as would everyone else. but there shouldn't have been such a difference. In 23 races. Gate 4 never provided a winner...... Please don't be so keen to treat others like yourself, everyone is different. I have never agreed with the ref stopping races whether it be for KL or not., just because someone lays the bikes down, To me, Rights - Right, and wrongs is nobody business.. As for the Garrity incident, I suggest you watch the recording again. Your logic makes me laugh....... It appears you are the one with rose tinted specks...........
  2. Not had chance to read through the pages yet, but as you can imagine, well pleased with the result of the SGP. I thought the meeting was OK. the track was the best I've seen, but to me the preferences of the gate positions really spoiled the meeting. For the first 16 heats, It appeared gate 1 guaranteed a win.. There were many minor positional changes, but usually, when you got to the front you were home and dry.... It showed up on the screen after 20 races, 16 from gate1 2 from Gates 2 and 3, and if you were on the outside you had no chance. and that to me is so unfair....... Holder actually had 4 gate1's in 7 races, whereas some only had 1, Kildemand went down in my estimation. In one instance, he twice going to ground so easily just to get the rerun. Seeing some of the angles he achieves when he rides he, more than most could have tried to recover instead of pulling a fast one. and then he later he tries to fence Magic down the home straight. really showed him up in a good light, what a nice man... Garrity 'Tee-Bone' on Lambert was ruthless in the extreme, But Doyle and Pedersen on Killer, were just brushing 50/50 racing incidents, with no intent. They're expected in this sport...... Ref's need to look at that rule.... When riders bale out, there should be other options instead of automatic blame.... Good night, Plenty noise, Plenty drinks, Lots of cocktails. even the surprised Winner in Niels, added to the accession, all adding to a wonderful weekend........ Expensive though!!!!!!!
  3. What needs to be remembered here, is that Ward favours Swindon because of it's location,........ not because he puts any importance in the club. Any decision Swindon make to accommodate Ward should be looked at responsibly....... Here today, Gone tomorrow.....
  4. Should be an easy win for the Robins, especially as Wolves big 2 are firing blanks..... Only when you see Wolves ride away, you realise how weak they really are...... Shame that... If ever a team needed WOFFY......... its now.....
  5. If Kings Lynn was big town with a large population base , Like say POOLE, SWINDON, LEICESTER, COVENTRY, WOLVES or MANCHESTER, then probably there might be something to gain by lowering the prices. but Lynn is not like those places and have to rely on supporters from a large catchment area. ( See post 294) Buster's average supporters might total 1300 more or less, coming from distances of up to 50mls or so. When on the television, these figures will obviously drop. I believe you could give, the ticket out for free, and still not get the support numbers you go on about. So where would that take him...... Bird in the hand .........
  6. I sometimes think you argue a point just for the sake of it, as your comment above portrays. Every club and occasion is different. There is no laid down right or wrong theory as to what always works. Having a cheap admission, might be the right thing to do, when the track is in a densely built up area, ( i.e; The Midlands), but when located in the open Fen countryside, you rely on supporters coming from much further a field.. A recent survey highlighted the majority of the Star fans travel more than 20 miles to support the club. A large proportion travel as much as 50 miles. So reducing the admission would never overcome the obvious advantage of watching the speedway on the tele, from home. I am sure Buster knows far more than you, and he priced the fixture accordingly. After all, he would know what was the best for the club .......
  7. Strange meeting that!!, Obviously pleased with the win, and the way Lamberts recued the occasion, but have to question the team performance. It appeared after Ht 7, with the exception of Maciej, Poole where there for the taking. Never will it be more achievable, than it should have been at that time. But instead of consolidating the position, we take the foot off the pedal and allow them back in it. No!! I'm not knocking Poole, they showed all the fight and determination to battle back, and in the end deserved to get some reward, but we should have shown more fight. Some of those first corners were terrible. Having always been a Magic lover, he didn't disappoint. He was superb all night and led by example.. Showing the rest what can be done. Our heat-leaders were a big disappointment. Milik, occasionally showed his class but let the team down with that stupid pull-cord incident, Niels was outclassed and beaten by Maciej 3 times, and Bjerre, what a complete joke. ( If Lynn has any intention of winning this year, than he has to go. He has finally exhausted the fans patience) Must be the most disappointing rider in the league this year by far... Kerr, Morris done their job, Porsing continued his progress with fast equipment, and Lambert was always there or thereabout. In the end we were lucky to get the 3 points, Thanks mainly to Mildo picking the wrong pair. Watt had just won his last 2 rides and beaten Lambert soundly in HT.14 . To me an obvious choice.... Buster, the track was superb, a real racing strip. It was shown, that IF you were prepared to have a go, you could make that pass. There were 10 races within 1.5 sec of the track record. That's quick...... Thoroughly enjoyed the night, Good racing, Good company, Good weather, Cool drinks,.... feel we got out of jail though....... Roll- on Cardiff
  8. To-nights result , could have a big bearing on who picks who in the play-offs. If we continue to impress, nobody will fancy coming here to play........
  9. Really???? I think that's about right....... They say it could reach the magic 38c ( 100 F) today. , First time since '76 apparently .....
  10. July is now with us, and as always, could turn out to be the most important month of the season. This is the month when teams step up a gear and strive forward in their quest of a top 4 finish. and implement those changes that each have been taking about....... All the teams with any intended changes will have to be finalised, because as from 1st August it will be too late... The obvious speculation regarding Darcy centres around Swindon but who else has to go to make way. Who else will be making big changes ??? ....
  11. On a good day, we could batter them. Likewise on a bad day they could do us the same. Going man for man, my opinion would be Poole 4-3. Track wise, they're not much to choose either way. Gating, again not much to choose again. Not a Middlo lover, but aware of his ability, apart from his mouth. Rob has a more laid back approach. Both know the score and how to win... I think the difference could go down to motivation of the riders, and if Rory's there , that could be the where the advantage could rest.... Lynn will be expecting to win whereas, Poole will want to lay a marker for the play-offs. Will go for a close 48-42 home win, with hopefully no TR.
  12. With a first cuppa on the patio, sitting here, marvelling at the weather this morning. Still, you wouldn't believe how still it is. Not a breath of wind. The thermometer indicates 20 degrees already. and all we can hear is some distance lorries. It really is wonderful to be out and up, experiencing this each day... Just thinking, Even though the match today, against Poole, is still 13 hrs away, how many people are in transit already?? Makes you realise how time consuming, it is to Speedway rider/Mechanic, going from one venue to another..... As a speedway supporter, I love to watch the races, but I wouldn't want the life of a rider travelling 4 countries on a weekly basis. They deserve all the riches they get....... No doubt the top riders earn big bucks, the lesser ones, not so much, But they all get my respect for the effort they apply...... Yet, we (Forum Posters) have the audacity to moan about them.......... Yeah Right..........
  13. When there last month to watch the Stars impressive win, there were many passing's. I was amazed of how good the wet track was, and offered overtaking both inside and out. When the weather is hot, it's always more difficult to have a good racing circuit....... Last night's track was disappointing though.....
  14. I understand how Coventry felt and appreciate Buster's dilemma. No doubt Buster has a break even point of customers in that they have to achieve through-out the season. When looking through the fixture list Teams like Poole are one of the top games and would there expect a bumper crowd and a good cash input . When Sky televise a meeting it puts a different problem in the mix. Yes, Buster will get a premium from Sky for the privilege, No they wont get the bumper crowd he was hoping for. Torn between the devil and the deep blue sea.. Normally there would be a few Poole supporters who travel to away meetings, but when it's being televised that number would be decimated. Even if Buster was given the ticket away for free, very few would travel the 200 miles to take up the offer. If this match was played against say Leicester or Coventry say Buster would have more of a chance to attract away supporters. Few years back, on a warm Good Friday there were 3500 fans who came to watch an exciting speedway match between these two teams. and not a television camera in sight. I think the weather will play a bigger part in Wednesday's fixture than then price on the gate. and hope the fans turn out in force. I would have thought a token reduction could be implemented to show faith, but whatever Buster does, he'll be perceived as wrong. Its a no-win situation...
  15. I admire your support travelling such distances. I like to go to the away meetings, but going to Dorset to watch and away meeting seems a bit far to me, so I admire your dedication. Even Holder Tweeted earlier, he likes riding the Lynn track, but the journey home is a KILLER...... Of all the meetings a year we watch, this one is always the one most anticipated. Two comparable sides each with fantastic riders gives them a chance of success. In the end it will be who performs best on the night. That's how it should be.... Would obviously like to win, and yes of cause we are good enough... But I'll take a stonking meeting, finishing close, every time.....
  16. Having watched them against Wolves on Monday than again against Lynn on Thursday, I find it hard to understand the extremes of how they perform. At home a confident and forceful side imposing themselves yet away, far from that level of performance.... As if they're not bothered..........
  17. 'Fired ' sounds a bit harsh. Released sounds better. Although very keen, he just didn't have the confidence or composure needed to project information, knowledge or excitement. In his defence, he had a tough act to follow......
  18. I agree it was the right call, but felt Lambert was a tad unlucky. Because of the rules, the Ref had to exclude someone, and was left with little option. When 3 riders are racing side by side, something was bound to happen. Coming into the third corner, AJ on the inside, forces Lambert wider than he would have choose, who was left with little room to manoeuvre inside Kennett. The clash was inevitable . You couldn't exclude AJ for moving Robert off line, and Kennett did nothing wrong, so yes Lambert was unlucky but had to go.
  19. I wonder what you look for in a rider. I also witness Brady Kurtz for the first time and I too thought he was sensational. Its not about the points he scores or about the heats he didn't win. To me its about many things, the way he rides, his smoothness, his control, his balance, his speed, his determination, his aggression, the way he learns along the way. THis boy has it all. To me he is a sensational talent, one that will go a long way. Just wished he would sign for Lynn Stars, but as always Matt Ford got there first.......... PS. What is it about Australia, that they can continually turn out these talented riders when there more people living in London than there is in there entire country....
  20. I don't think anyone is getting carried away, last night to me was what speedway should be every week. It wasn't about winning, or the big scores. It was about the application, the effort and the passion shown in all the races. Yeah !! I agree they all go hand in hand. I appreciate, and at the end of the day there can only be one winner, but every team can show passion and determination even in defeat and that's all I ever ask for. I am in no doubt, if the meetings dished up that excitement every time, this sport wouldn't be on its knees and the fans would come flocking back........
  21. WOW !! This performance was everything that has been missing of late. So much passion and effort from all members of the team. Was this down to Rory's presence ? or just a team responding to the fans calls?? Was it the riders wanting to welcome Milik, whatever, it was a much needed statement of intent. Everyone of the Lynn riders battled like never before. With only one last place, even when the gate was missed, the effort to beat an opponent was always evident. Lakeside were unlucky tonight, in that it was them who were the opposition. But it would have been same, regardless of who the Stars rode. Probably the scoreline wouldn't have been so one sided, but no team would have contained the continuous onslaught of effort and determination. Something that had been missing for some time. Although, Niels raced to an impeccable maximum, it will be Milik who will be remembered for a sensational debut. A fantastic crowd pleaser, an obvious talented rider wanting to impress, but those races against AJ will only fade in the years to come. AJ, although scoring low, put in tremendous effort and applied every ounce he knew, such was the importance. No quarter asked or given, this was racing at its best, truly awesome. In the end the score was 3-1 to Milik. but a massive thanks to AJ for the effort he made and for the show he put on. Much has been said about the form of Niels, Lambert, and Kerr, but tonight the difference of the team was the input from the others. Porsing was so intent to do well tonight, even when he missed the gate he came from the back and had 3 brilliant races to score important points, Do his confidence a world of good, and get the moaner off his back. Ashley Morris rode the best for a long time and was always in the mix, again a big confidence boost. Now that he has joined the Witches, hopefully, his confidence with improve as well. and last but not least was KB. With lightening starts he was away and gone in his first 2 rides with fast times, In his next two he was caught up in the elbow bashing of Milik and AJ, so no disgrace for him either. If he can perform like that, from here on in, that'll do for me. Could Milik be the impudence the team needed?? Will this new signing make the difference the Stars have been lacking?? Like I said, a much needed injection of intent. Next week we play Poole, obviously a tougher challenge. Will they be regretting not keeping hold of this exceptional rider??????
  22. Enjoyed my visit to the EESG as usual, the weather was good, the competition was spot on, pity the track didn't come up to scratch until late on. Must races were gate and go with a fast inside line. That's the trouble when the track is fast, the racing becomes processional. A few races were close to the track record and that was an indication of how fast the riding was. Glasgow are a strong team, led by 3 good BEL riders, all consistently winning races, The Frenchman at reserve done well, but they sure missed the injured Sarjeant, whose RR only managed 2 pts. Probably had these sides met 3 weeks ago the result might been different. The Panthers battled hard. were unlucky at times but got there in the end. Although only 5 heat winners, they always battled for those minor placings to keep Glasgow in tack. Two riders caught my eye, first Simon Lambert, he has come on leaps and bounds, since last year when guesting for the Stars, and Brady Kurtz. Having heard much of how good he is, seeing him for the first time was a real eye opener. He was excluded in the first for tape infringement, but from then on he was impressive. I thought he was a tad unlucky to be excluded in the 10th. I think there was contact, but purely a racing accident with no intent. Probably, if the cameras weren't there and no Kelvin giving his thoughts the outcome may have been different. It was a pleasant evening. Wouldn't rate this with the best meetings I've seen, but was still enjoyable.
  23. Getting a fair dose of speedway this week. Lakeside/Wolves on the tele, Mon night; Peterborough, tonight and Lynn tomorrow. The wife has said many times I think more of Speedway than I do her..... Am totally at ease with the corrupt way our sport is governed, I may have strong feelings, when comparing the past with that today, but I still enjoy the principal and excitement of 4 riders racing around a circular track. Obviously, would love to win every match, and especially that illusive league title. But it would make little difference to me, or my enjoyment of watching speedway. My needs now are few. Seeing Lambert riding 4 races, giving his all, will satisfy my enthusiasm . The smoothness of Niels is always a bonus. Milik, I eagerly wait his input. Kerr, can be relied upon to do his share, The rest need to up their game before I can get enthralled with them. Lakeside have few decent riders. AJ, Bech, Kennett; Lawson will see its not all one way traffic...... Can't wait.......
  24. It appears, I'm not alone in my views about the sport. I've always had reservations about the FTR scheme, and feel it was implemented before it had been properly thought out. More time should have been allow to oversee the obvious problems. But it was done with little thought, hoping it to be a 'quick fix'. As soon as some of us pointed out the obvious issues, we were frown upon. Now we have too bare the blunt of a ridiculous situation, where the lesser riders are more valuable than the top riders. With fore-thought all that was needed was certain guide lines, put in place, to stipulate each team need to include a number of home riders, We didn't need to change the whole concept of league racing, where the averages of today mean nothing........ Even the ones from years back, have non relevance to the league format we are now running.....
  25. If you were to read what I actually posted, I did say 'SOME FANS ' and in no way was that meant as a representation of then all '''GRW123, on 20 Jun 2015 - 07:26 AM, said: The last time we travelled to Lakeside to see fixture 1, it was surprising to see the incense hatred some of their fans held for Lambert, just because he was the new man on the block.
