Wrong again......... .. I'm not a Grumpy git, far from it. enjoying a retiring life..... 'Screamer' pointed out what you actually meant, but no doubt there were a few who would have thought you were referring to me. But no worries, these things happen. If our paths ever cross, I'll be more than happy to buy you a drink and show there's no ill feelings ..... .... Cheers...

In your post No 51 you quoted my comment and subsequently said ' This Poster also said.......' making out it was me who had said... whatever. If this was a mis-understanding on my part, it was created by your inclusion of my post. Probably next time you'll make your posts more directive, so no one can be mistake their intentions.

Posf1 - Belle Vue Aces Vs Swindon Robins, 14 Sep 2015
g13webb replied to Steve0's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
From a neutral perspective, was very impressed with the way BV went about their business. Determined, Focused, together they, totally destroyed the opposition. AJ was an inspired choice of guest and the track was prepared for the cause. Such was the result, I cant see no way back now from this 14 point mauling. Yes , there is a second leg to come, but after Swindon's dismal showing last night, this can only be a formality for BV now. -
Not me Mister, never went to the 4's. Wouldn't know what went on......... Do wish people would get their facts right when they make acquisations....

Really pleased to hear.............

I too heard he was sacked by Peterborough, and Money was one of the reasons. Sincerely hope you are right about his love for the Stars... He would be a massive loss....... As of yet, I am not convinced, Time will tell....... but I wouldn't bet on it.......

This half -cocked idea of draft riders was always going to be difficult to implement. Unless the Premier League Bosses come on board and form part of a progressional development route, the idea will die a natural death. In an ideal world, it would be a terrific development scheme to have 5 Tiers of youngster wanting to progress. : Tier1 = EL 6; Tier2 =EL7; Tier3 = PL6; Tier4 = PL7 and Tier5 =NL6 & 7. Each year they could move along giving each rider the opportunity to progress. But for this to work, all of the Promoters would have to think as one body and work as a unit. Until then we have to continue it this half cocked idea. The main problem at the moment is we do not have enough decent youngsters who want to part-take wholly in this scheme. Some want the best of both worlds. some want guest booking only, some want to earn more money. This makes it very difficult for equal distribution of talent and stepping stones becomes too big for other to make.. Even forgetting about the crooked selection process, the current riders in Tiers 1 and 2 are miles apart in terms of quality and this alone makes it so unfair to the teams who have the lesser riders. The idea of developing a route for the youngster, to progress into the sport is a brilliant idea. But it should not be detriment to the Clubs who, at present, do the most in giving these youngster an opportunity. Rules should be set in stone and make all clubs aware they all need to invest in the future of these youngster. It is wrong that teams like Coventry and Lynn are penalised just because they are the one's who do this... and whilst other clubs continue to have free pickings, they will never invest the time or money into the program. Once we ruled the world, but now this country need to develop these new riders.....

It was only a matter of time before people would realise what a ridiculous idea this is. Top Draft riders are more important to the team now than the No1, and that can't be right. Protected heats, on a bias basic, is one of the main reasons teams have reached the PO's. Totally down to the form of their reserves. Newman, Garrity, Worrall and Wright. For the second year second running Lynn has suffered by the injury to Kerr, and the rules don't allow teams a permanent replacement. Bring back the old way when teams had 7 riders all using the same format and with a compatible average. Allow each club to sort their own team, with the proviso being minimum of 2 or 3 British nationality. Why complicate the rules when they could be so straight forward and easy to understand.......

Reading these team opinions are pretty interesting, and shows how everyone is different. Rather than names I prefer to categorise the people, I think we need to be successful. First we need a top rider for No 1. Someone who can win race 13 and 15 at the drop of a hat. There are not many about, so its vitally important. Niels is the best of the lot and a shame he if he doesn't return. Holder, Magic, Zagar, AJ Doyle are the others who could be considered. Two more able riders to fill the heat leader roles to be accomplished heat winners. Bomber, Batch, North Nichol such like, riders who go out and compete everytime.... Passion is what fans want to see. Second Strings: these again are important, and ideally we need to find a RINGER. A quality rider on a ridiculously low average. A trick, Poole manages to pull every year.... Failing that, we need a couple of riders who are exciting, passionate and guaranteed to put 2 points on the average. FTR / Draft riders are a different ball game. A half thought out idea that needs restructuring. When top tier riders are badly injured( like Auty, & Kerr) there is no facility for them to be replaced. Using guests was the only option. That has to be addressed. I would like to see all the Tier 1 riders (and a rejuvenated Kerr) in the top 5, leaving each club to find their own British Reserves Riders. A young and vibrant Team Manager is essential, someone who will coax , answer, and encourage the team through all the issues to success. Rory would be the ideal candidate. I feel if we don't get him on board, I'm sure someone else will..... Such an obvious choice.......

Smoke and Fire... so disappointed with the rumours about Lambert leaving. Poole have been mentioned, along with a few more, but from what I hear, it all about money rather than which team. Why did he leave the Panthers, so late into the season???? ... Seems to me young Robert is getting too big for his britches'. Wasn't too long ago he was being protected and nurtured by Lynn team into the world of Elite league racing. Now he wants to get up and go..... SOD you Jack!!! There's a lot more to being a Top Racer then just riding a bike. He should learn about repaying the faith that supporters who have shown all this time. Not yet 18, Lambert sure has a lot to learn, it will be a big mistake to alienate those fans .... Note!! Blasted predictable text .. Sorry.....

King's Lynn V Swindon 9th Sept 19.45

No worries mate, you're way too strong for us........ Must say, my opinion of Killer has changed of late. Lays it down at the slightest touch, Cons the Ref at every opportunity, and what he did at Coventry last, was a bloody disgrace...... -

g13webb replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
For the first time since returning to the Elite league, this will be the first meeting I've missed through choice. With interest at an all time low, I can't be asked to stand there on a cold night, knowing that the relevance of this meeting, is of no importance. I don't suppose I will be alone with these views... I understand that all teams can't be winners, but we need to have that belief it can be us. We were well placed until Rory got injured. But bad management, and the eventual poor signing of Milik, deemed us as also rans from that point. I feel the fans have been badly let down, Not only, with poor team performances but also with communication as well. Whether my interest changes before next season, will depend on the ideas and plans of the Management and Promotions. Last time I felt this low, was when Waggy took the team to Oxford...... -

If Bomber was down to ride in all 15 heats, you can bet, he would still give 110%. It's pity, all the rider's don't have the similar attitude........ -
Coventry V Swindon - Wednesday 2nd September
g13webb replied to NeilWatson's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think all these 're-run' and 'call backs' do more harm than good. It kills the meeting as far as 'stop - go' is concerned, and the time it wastes is tremendous. I much prefer the old days when it was a competition between Rider and the Ref. So what if the Rider anticipates the starts, he Knows the gamble. I remember Mauger pushing the tapes 2 or 3 times before the race started. he didn't always get away with it. But the fact remains he didn't have the number of re-runs we have now.. I thought it added to the tension to the meetings and created excitement. Now its just STOP ; GO; STOP; Back to the Pits; 2min warning; Rerun; STOP; Back to the pits; I'm sure its another reason the fans don't come back........ -

LUCK is something some may get, but you cant go blaming it for all our problems. If we wait for LUCK to shine on us, we may have to wait another 50 years. Teams make their own LUCK. We need to start and be pro-active and go forward with new ideas, it's obviously the old ones aren't working. All teams suffer problems. The difference is how the teams cope with them. Some go out and make changes to rectify the problem, other wallow in self pity and blame the Bad Luck. That's the difference between winning teams and also rans....... -

It wasn't the doubters that were wrong, just his ridiculous low average, as has been proved the case. I see, as predicted, the Stars put on a wonderful show last night. -

In a year, when it was hoped to celebrate the Club’s 50th Anniversary in the sport with some success, it has ending up as nothing more than a Damp Squid. Disappointing, Lack Lustred, Uninspiring, there are many words to describe the way this team has performed of late and last night was only the final nail in the inevitable coffin. Call it what you will, Fate, Fortune, Luck, all conspired to diminish the Stars efforts as ‘Also-Rans’. I wrote at the time the loss of Rory was massive. Not only our 2nd heat leader and Captain, but also the inspiration of the whole team. He was the motivator, Mr Team Spirit himself, and because he was never replaced, the team has descended from that point. Fortune again played its part with the loss of Lewis Kerr. Because of some pathetic ruling he couldn’t be replace. For any team to lose two of their top riders they would have struggle, and that’s the way it’s turned out. Last night’s result was not important. We are far too weak to compete in the playoffs, and this result merely stops us from embarrassing ourselves against the stronger teams. Winning to me is not the be-all of everything, but I do demand effort. If rider’s, can’t be bothered than why should we. Last night’s meeting as a spectacle, excitement, competition, was poor. The track was even worse than the first meeting when the Referee deemed it was dangerous. Had the Ref had balls he would have seen through the antics of Doyle, and let the three riders at the tapes race to a conclusion. All he did was provide another twist of fate against this depleted side. I congratulate the Lions on their win, but in all honesty, any team, would have beaten us. We were that poor. With the exception of Niels, the rest of the team wasn’t interested. Porsing always rides hot and cold, Lambert rode as though he had too, rather than wanting too, Morris was embarrassingly last every race, and Kenneth’s fall from grace is as spectacular as it is sad. Once a top rider, but now, only a shadow of his former self. That, coupled with some strange Referee decisions and a missed opportunity for Double Points, all of which conspired to this home defeat. If it wasn’t for the effort from our two guests the margin would have been much greater. Fortunately, it was over in quick time. At the end, the atmosphere resembled a wake. The quietness was deafening. The supporters moved quietly to the Car Park in an orderly fashion. It was as though all had finally accepted our faint hopes of success had ended. Tonight result against Poole will only cement the inevitable. It is sad, the way this season has ended, but in reality, our hopes of success ended the day Rory was injured. -

Belle Vue, Kings Lynn Or Swindon For 3rd/4th Spot
g13webb replied to Trevor's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
As much as I agree in principle with what BV have said, I think this whole scenario should be sussed out at the AGM table. It is wrong that one team stand alone in their decision to withhold their riders from guest appearances, when we all know, in its current program, the league cannot survive without guest!!! I am still remembering last year, when Rory guested for BV frequently, and also later, when the Stars were decimated with injuries, we relied totally on guests to assemble a team of any strength, even in the PO semi-finals. Until the BSPA have any resemblance of sensibility, and arrange our 2 leagues to run on separate nights, there can be no change in the laws regarding guests. Belle Vue, along with all the other clubs will always rely on guests to cover absent riders. This needs sorting...... -
Kings Lynn V Leicester Thurs 13 Aug
g13webb replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Probably so. But (a) this important fixture should have been sorted before he signed, and ( if it wasn't it ought to have been. Winning at Leicester is imperative if we are to reach the playoff, with a lucrative Semi-final at stake.... If we cant win this we stand no chance of getting a result against Coventry, Swindon or Poole, especially with riders missing...... -

I never understood the logic of signing Milik in the first place, and the fact he chooses to ride in the SEC, rather then for his club, when results are of paramount importance clearly verifies my thinking. If riding this weekend was of relevance it would be different, but we all know he is only an 'also ran', there, to make up the numbers... Give me someone who is committed to the Club everytime. Looking at this replacement is really tragic, cos Rory was always committed. 200% -

If what I hear is true, I believe Robert is getting too big for his boots. ( or being wrongly advised) As the rumour goes, now he is regarded as a heat leader, he wants his contract adjusted....! ( That's a bit naughty) If true, The I suggest Robert wants to think back of how the Club and Buster has helped him along the way and given him all the opportunities you could wish for. Probably, you are regarded as an heatleader here, but only because others haven't ridden as well as was hoped, not because the points you have scored. When you go out and win most of your races and have an average around 8 or 9 then you can think you're special. Until then, I suggest you pipe down and get on with what you are paid to do. Let your riding do the talking...... Edit: Comment based purely on rumours heard last night from reliable sources. Don't normally listen to them, but, there no smoke without fire Will be interesting to see what happens this week......
