  1. Split it between them. Spent it on riders. Just about survived. In a league that was effectively bankrupt without that cash. What the hell do you think?
  2. Promoters have always been able to bring sponsorship into the communal 'pot' and get paid on results. Terry Russell was able to trouser 200K per season out of the old deal with Sky for combined broadcasting and naming rights. He went out and did the deal. So he got 20 per cent. Anyone who did similar would have got the same 'finders fee'. El Tel can get a lot of flak. Some of it justified. But the fact remains he is just about the only guy who has ever achieved anything on this front. Credit where credit is due. .
  3. So, in summary. Three actual decisions have been made all weekend. 3 points for a home win. One TR when 10 points behind. Yellow and Black Helmet Cover to return. Other things are being tweeked. Fixture list better adapted around GPs. Format better adapted for visiting number 4. Fast Track riders shuffled a bit. Doubling up a bit restricted, in two years time. Everything in the garden really must look rosy, then. If that is it. I just had a feeling that here was a tad more work needed. Must be wrong.
  4. Quite right. We are trivialising a grave matter. If Darcy Ward were aged 5 and waiting to take part in the egg and spoon race. He would be breathalysed for Calpol and be suspended.
  5. Well... I've been on quite a few committees in my time. In various arenas of life, but not the BSPA. And, without exception, the Chairman - on occasions, me - has had much greater influence on the policy direction that any other single committee member. And massively more influence than a 'normal association member' on the floor of a General meeting. .
  6. You do realise that every single one of these god-awful puns is going to be used, at sometime in the future, on the front cover of a Speedway Star. .
  7. If you had asked him his name on the morning of the Latvian GP. Then that is probably the best he could have managed himself!
  8. The argument for such a conspiracy theory presupposes that 'The FIM' is this unified sentient entity that cares one jot about this case or Darcy Ward. That I doubt. I imagine the truth is that the organisation as a whole has barely any idea who the guy is, what his case is. And wouldn't 'care' even if they did. His 'file' is probably sat in the 'in tray' of a middle ranking official in Geneva. And it will just get looked at when he gets around to it. Perhaps after a nice long Christmas break.
  9. I don't know why, but I am reminded of that old joke. Prince Charles visits a old folks home and stoops to speak to an elderly resident. HRH says 'Do you know who I am?' To which the old codger replies 'Don't worry if you've forgot you're own name, son, Matron will know'
  10. Chaos exists inside just one person's head. Everyone else here is doing 'just fine'.
  11. Clueless. Your every utterance in this thread, and others, displays a total lack of understanding of social media generally and facebook specifically. And yet you persist. Utterly clueless.
  12. Are you bonkers? Karl Fiala moderates the group 'Speedway Friends'. And that is the group that has been discussed here, throughout the thread. The site 'Speedway Friends, Riders and Veterans' is a completely different group. It is not operated by Karl Fiala. And NOT ONCE have you referred to this group in your ramblings. Aha! I now notice you have edited your post to remove any mention of Mr Fiala. Sneeky.
  13. . As always Gustix always creates confusion where clarity is needed. The Facebook page 'Speedway Friends' that has been discussed widely here has 10,308 members at this moment. An entirely different Facebook group entitled 'Speedway Friends, Riders and veterans' has 11,039 members. I have no idea what this proves. Except that Gustix must be the most infuriating member of this forum. Bar None. .
  14. I am at a loss on this now. If Darcy has 'learnt his lesson' and is showing remorse in public, by word and deed. Then presumably he is acknowledging his total guilt in this matter. Has he contacted the FIM at any stage to say that he does not contest the charge?
  15. .It's always a little sad when Teens count up their 'likes'. To judge how much their life 'matters'. .
  16. As quoted by gustix . Don't you just love the fact that gustix did not just quote Pirate Olivers post. He changed the offending line so pleasingly. He put it in italics. He underlined it. He increased the font size. And he made it stand out in Fire-Engine Red. With 'Speedway Friends' like gustix; Karl certainly does not want any 'Speedway Enemies' .
  17. CHEESE does not represent good value imo I buy a something different called CHALK its cheap and it is bloody awful on toast, CHEESE costs more and tastes damn good.
  18. .Yes, it is funny just how easily people imagine that success may go to the head of a sportsman. When it actually adversely affects those 'around' the principal, even more. Imagine how easier the negotiations for a wheelbarrow-full of-cash would have gone with a WORLD title in the tool box. Genuine gold, instead of that rather chocolate-filled version he has. .
  19. So what is the real story about this Suskiewicz guy. It is rare to see any manager's name get mentioned at all; yet no story about Emil is ever free of a mention of this chap. Is he to be admired or feared? Is he serving Emil well? From his photo it is not possible to judge. Is he a bleached Svengali to be trusted; or is he an ex radio DJ who we should all watch carefully?
  20. I always thought that. But naughty children very often shout 'It wasn't my fault!' When caught redhanded.
  21. A couple of thoughts from the Swedish report ... The lawyer seems to be basing his advice on the Stefan Danno case ... That was in 2000, now 14 years ago. It will be interesting to see if a case from so long ago, when some aspects of doping control administration were quite different, really is a guiding precedent for today. Stefan Danno's case was decided in the week before Christmas for an offence committed at the end of September ... So timing wise Darcy's case isn't really that delayed by comparison, yet. And finally, the report makes no mention of the possibility of him being cleared on the grounds that the test was performed wrongly. He is now expecting a ban, so must now be reconciled to guilt being established? .
  22. Not many Nicki fans may think of looking in the Darcy Ward thread for such info. If only there was a way of creating a Nicki Pedersen thread of his own.
  23. I don't know. So why not start a thread about him? That is how forums work.
