  1. Looks like Dutch rider Rene Verhoef is coming out of retirement as he is nominated to ride in Saalfelden, with Sven Holstein. Most probably he'll ride for the Dutch team in the Team Final too.

  4. I'm giving up this predictions lark. Klabo winning the first round is a real surprise. Still two more rounds to go.....
  5. Anyone want to bet AGAINST Franky winning this outright for the third year in a row?
  6. Russian Individual Championship Semi Final Kanensk-Ural 19th/20th Dcember 2009 Beat me to it Jesper! As expected, Krasnikov won, with Dmitri K in second. Despite beating Krasnikov on nSaturday he was beaten in his 4th race today by Krasnikov, Krysov and Akimenko, and was struggling to pass. Big surprise is Kyysov going through ahead of Bazeev. If he is in the top 7 in two weeks, then a year in the World Championships should see him improve in leaps and bounds!
  7. Lets be honest Jesper, Johnny has had more than his fair share of injuries in the last couple of years. And in these recessionary times, maybe work is more important than racing when it comes to paying the bills. If he takes a year out it will give him time to recover, he may come back a bit stronger. After all, in Rene Stelingwerf and Sven Holstein the Netherlands have two real prospects. I think Johnny may put in an appearance at Assen in March if only as an advisor. Just one thing who will replace him in the Team event?
  8. It's just above freezing here as it was -6 last night. I should have been snapping Port Vale v Chesterfield today and that's off with a frozen pitch as it was -7 there overnight.
  9. Ohh That Smarts! Hope he's back racing soon, he is a cracking rider. Russian Championship Semi Final Day 1: Kamensk-Ural It was -15 when this meeting started and the video feed was suspended as the camera wouldn't operate. When they got up the video tower to set up, it was still -20 and they couldn't get the camera to work. 1 Eduard Krysov Kamensk-Ural (1,1,1,3,0) 6 2 Dmitri Khomitsevich Togliatti (2,3, 2,3,3) 13 3 Andrey Gavrilkin Saransk (3,1,1,2,3) 10 4 Anton Zmaga Kemerov (0,0,1,0,2) 3 5 Vitalli Khomitsevich Togliatti (3,3,1,3,f) 10 6 Roman Akimenko Novosibirsk (1,2,3,1,0) 7 7 Sergei Makharov Lukhovitsy (0,0,3,1,0) 4 8 Yunir Baseev Saransk (2,3,2,0,2) 9 9 Pavel Tschajka Lukhovitsy (3,2,3,3,2) 13 10 Maxim Koltrakov Shadrinsk (1,0, 0,0,ns) 1 11 Ilya Drozdov Lukhovitsy (0,2, 2,1,3) 8 12 Dmitri Koltakov Shadrinsk (2,1, 0,2,2) 7 13 Maxim Baraboshkin Ust'Llim (1,0,2,2,1) 6 14 Alexander Rodin Shadrinsk (f,ns,ns,ns,ns) 0 15 Nikolai Krasnikov Ufa (3,3, 3,2,3) 14 16 Maxim Korchemakha Novosibirsk (2,2,0,1,1) 6 17 Anton Kovrizhin Kemerov (1,0,f) 1 18 Dmitri Bryukhovskikh Shadrinsk( f,1) 1 Alexander Rodin had quite a bad fall in his first ride and the Russian Forums say he may not ride tomorrow. Pavel Tschajka caused a stir when he beat Krasnikov and becomes the first rider to beat the World Champion this season. From all accounts it was a great race with Pavel keeping Nikolai at bay. Day 2 starts at 10am Moscow time Sunday (about 7am UK time) The Togliatti and Ufa Qualifying Rounds start at around 3pm UK time

  12. It bet it was colder in Oldham than in Slobodsky today.
  13. Can you tell me where this meeting today was please Doug? I've been photographing Oldham v Exeter this afternoon and have just got in. Thanks for posting the other results Jesper.

Which means they will have to move the semi finals back and possibly change the dates of the first round of the Elite League.
  15. OOOOOOOOHHHHHH let me see? Hhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm. Could it be Mark Uzzell perchance? I know Subtle as a flying mallett, Mark Good luck in this years championships, I just hope I can get to see you ride this year. Are you trying for the Friday Night at Assen by any chance?
  16. I think we discussed this at length last season, but now, organising federations get a slot in the Finals if their top man doesn't qualify. Last year Johnny Tuinstra made it through under his own steam and as he told me he would rather have got there on merit that having a slot. Knapp was injured in practice at Sanok and the Poles relinquished their slot, but I do think Knapp will be more of a threat this season, as according to the Iceracing.pl site he has been training with the Russians. If Knapp goes through this year I do think it will be on merit. As for the finalists, I think you take the 7 Russian, Zorn, Aakko, Bauer, Posa, Svensson then four others - plus Tuinstra and Knapp (if they don't qualify on merit). It's the four others that you have to guess. How about Simon, Leihtinen, Holstein, plus another Austrian? (Mind you our success in this predictions lark has been somewhat laughable over the last few season )
  17. I suppose Macs aren't as popular in Russia, as the plug-in for viewing this isn't Mac compatable. May have to borrow my son's laptop to watch.
  18. Khomitsevich, Kononov SF 2: D.Khomitsevich, Tschajka, M.Korchemakha, I.Ivanov (f), FINAL: Krasnikov, Tschajka, D.Khomitsevich, Zakharov Overall Scores: Nikolai Krasnikov (Ufa) 30 (15+15) Dmitri Khomitsevich (Togliatti) 25 (13+12) Vitally Khomitsevich (Togliatti) 25 (12+13) Pavel Tschajka (Lukhovitsy) 23 (10+13) Igor Kononov (Sterlitamak) 21 (11+10) Ivan Ivanov (Togliatti) 18 (8+10) Maxim Zakharov (Saransk) 15 (7+8) Daniil Ivanov (Togliatti) 14 (9+5) Dmitri Bulankin (Ufa) 13 (8+5) Maxim Korchemakha (Novosibirsk) 10 (0+10) Edward Krysov (Kamensk-Ural) 10 (4+6) Sergey Makarov (Lukhovitsy) 9 (4+5) Ilya Drozdov (Lukhovitsy) 7 (4+3) Stanislav Arkhipov (Ufa) 7 (3+4) Nikita Alexeev (Ufa) 6 (5+1) Alexander Kochetov (Novosibirsk) 4 (4+0) Andrei Zhdanov (Novosibirsk) 1 (1+0) Vyacheslav Svitek (Novosibirsk) 0 So Krasnikov has yet another perfect score and I suspect will make it six on the trot come Berlin in March. Tschjaka and Kononov doing well, but looks like Bulankin and Ivan Ivanov are going to struggle this year. Danil Ivanov starting slowly too.
  19. Looks like Krasnikov has started as he left off with an unbeaten performance. Good result for Kononov too, I'd like to see him in Assen and Berlin this season. Glad you did the results Doug, been out most of the day and unable to get the forums
  20. There's a turn up - Pavel Tschajka at reserve. Predictions for this meeting? Danil Ivanov to be a spoiler if he can beat Krasnikov @DutchGrassTrack: so Sven Holstein won't be competing in the European Junior Championship then. Also I expect Stellingwerf to shine this winter, as he had a good season last year.
  21. They've added to this event, in that in they are having a training session on the Alpenarena before the pocket bikes event and it appears to be an open training session. Just had a look at the Steigaden site and they have the meeting starting at 1pm and want it over by 4pm. Possibly the lack of floodlights is a factor No riders have been anounced yet, but last year's winner Frankie Zorn has confirmed riding there on his own website. Frankie appears to be riding at St. Johann in the qualifiers rather than the Saalfelden round.
  22. Got to argee with you there Doug, Tschajka having it all his own way, as he only dropped a point last week and a perfect score this week. Zmaga benefiting from his trips to the West last year. The season starts proper next weekend but from what I've read the crowds at this weeks round were bigger than last week.

  24. FIM Ice racing World Championship - Changes to the 2010 calendar - The FIM Ice Racing World Championship 2010 calendar has been modified as follow, change in bold: Date FMN Event Venue Country 10 January KNMV FIM Ice Racing WC Q. Interesting that the Innsbruck round is organised by the Dutch, or more specifically, MC Assen, but they have the crew to do it.
  25. Looks like the Swiss Ice Racing club are having an extra meeting on December 20th. An indoor meting in the Ice Rink next to the site of the Alpenarena ran to Ice Racing rules on Pocket Bikes! Whilst it's not exactly Ice Racing it looks like they are having this fun event to create some more interest in the Big meeting in the New Year. More details Here but you may need a translator to read it.
