  1. I agree with the majority of comments and find it quite bizarre that we have been awarded the points. As everyone says that penalises every other team in the League and it is unfair. That said, I am mindful of the fact that we have our hard earned 'win at all costs' reputation to uphold so "Woooohhhhhhooooo!!" (Please don't take that seriously.)
  2. Well I was right that there was nothing on the telly worth watching but I certainly got the score wrong with the Heathens running out comfortable winners. Eastbourne had a lot of bad luck and the final outcome would have been closer if Knight and Powell had not picked up injuries. A big 'well done' to Bradley Andrews last night. He really looked the part. Richard Andrews made a very encouraging debut after a long lay off and looks just what we've been missing in the middle order. The rest all rode well to seal the win. Maybe things will start picking up from here and we will have R/R for Big Jim for a while which will get an extra ride in for Richard. Hope the Eagles lads make full and swift recoveries. Shame the England footy team didn't perform with similar commitment and enthusiasm!
  3. Hmmm.................... Just seen the Eastbourne demolition of Kings Lynn. Ellis, Wood, Perks and Knight dropped one point between them from 19 rides. Guess you could say that's impressive form ahead of tomorrow. Hang on. What's that knocking noise I can hear?..............................................................Oh dear, it's my knees! It could be a good one.
  4. Yep that's what I meant. Rumour has it that if England can beat Iceland Roy Hodgson thinks he will be playing Tesco in the next round!
  5. This should be a cracker. The good news is that Richard Andrews will be filling the yawning gap left by Jack kingston's departure. The not so good news is that James Purchase is missing due to a shoulder injury. Bradley will do his best but Big Jim has been scoring well at home and his absence could be difficult to overcome. With Adam Ellis around Eastbourne have someone capable of beating our top three which has the potential to expose our tail end. That said I'm hoping that Layne Cupitt can put a few points in the bag. He was really entertaining on his debut but lost a few points from overdoing it. Now the debut is out of the way I think he could be very useful at reserve. Tough one to call but I can see the Heathens losing this one by four points. Hope I'm wrong! Get yourself down there. There's nothing on the telly worth watching on Monday! Whoops - got the date wrong in the header. It is 27th of course.
  6. The Mildenhall / Cradley thing goes back to the 2012 Play Off final at Kings Lynn when the Heathens had a depleted team due to Injury. Tom Perry and Byron Bekker were missing and we had to track a three pointer to cover as the rules at the time didn't allow for guests, just one R/R facility. We lost in extremely controversial circumstances after Chris Louis had paid a visit to the Referees box over the exclusion of one of his riders who was promptly reinstated. We've got over it. Looks like they haven't. All very sad. Anyhow I don't understand what is so objectionable about Matt Williamson as a guest. Chess has been flying this year and has fully merited his 9 point average. Is Matt (who is a great lad) the track record holder or something. It's not as if we tried to bring Greg Hancock in is it! I'm not going to throw too many stones in Kevin Jolly's direction. The original Press Release referred to personal problems so you have to take that into consideration. Clearly some action will be necessary but the calls to potentially close the Club down are way over the top. Lets pay the fine and learn the lesson but it is another sorry chapter in Speedway's decline in the UK.
  7. Good news indeed. I hope Richard and blow away the cobwebs quickly and fill the yawning gap between the heat leaders and reserves especially away from home. Ironically he will probably make his debut against Eastbourne!
  8. Looks from the programme last night that a signing has been made to replace Kingston but he is currently recovering from injury. No names mentioned but who else fits the bill other than Richard Andrews? I was very impressed by Layne Cupitt last night. He got a bit fat zero for his trouble but you couldn't fault the lad for determination and commitment. He certainly looks quick enough to compete and I think he will get a few points when he settles down.
  9. Yes Pete. I agree and he's a big old unit to get round. Have to say his catch and pass after forgetting his fuel taps was amazing. I'm old enough to remember Ivan Mauger doing that once. I thought Layne Cupitt was a breath of fresh air. His enthusiasm was amazing. Ok he over did it a few times but he was giving it 100%.and that's all you can ask for. I think that was probably the most entertaining 'zero' I can ever remenber seeing!
  10. Well I have to say I actually enjoyed the drama. There was something going on in nearly every race, mainly involving us falling off or having the gremlins or forgetting to turn the fuel on!. I couldn't believe we actually pulled that one out of the fire. We looked dead and buried at one stage. For a team that got battered at home at the weekend Buxton certainly turned up with a positive attitude and they all gave it a real go. Nathan and Ellis were out to prove a point and nearly made it. Couldn't stop a chuckle when Ellis tried to warm his tyre up before the last race and ended up with a puncture (I think) on the first bend. Cleggy, Ben and James all performed to their very best and got us out of jail. I hope James wasn't too badly hurt in his second pile up. It looked really nasty.
  11. I did actually try it in Cardiff a few years ago when they were giving away free cans. Let's just say almost all of it went down a nearby drain. It was horrible! None of my kids could drink it either. I agree with others that I think it does feature as one of Greg's business interests. Best of luck to him in my book. A great guy and did you know he's 46 and used to ride for Cradley.
  12. As Speedibee says, he came down in his second ride and got clattered by a following rider. That's a shame as he is always good value and an entertaining visitor. Hope he will get well soon. Its 'orrible when the injuries keep mounting up. Thanks Jayne Excellent choice and sure to go well.
  13. With Rider Replacement in operation and Bradley Andrews at number 8 I hope he will get a ride or two if we are running away with it. Can't see anything other than a confortable Cradley win. Ellis Perks guests for the Hitmen but I don't think he's been round Monmore yet so may take a couple of rides to dial in fully. I've set the British Final to record and Belgium v Italy can take a running jump. Come on you Heathens!
  14. Sorry Folks This is a duplicate posting. Please use the other thread for comments. Thanks.
  15. All square after the first leg so can't see anything other than a Cradley progression here. Good luck to Layne Cupitt on his debut for the Heathens. Let's avoid putting any pressure on him. He's still learning the trade. Comfortable win for Cradley 52-38 with Cleggy Ash and Luke doing most of the damage as usual. I trust we'll all be recording the British Final to watch afterwards!

  17. Shame to see Bradley dropped for now but James has been scoring some points and Layne may need time to settle. Hope Bradley can bounce back through the MDL. We really do need to sort out the Kingston vacancy!
  18. The 2013 Play Off Final turn out was incredible but very much reflected the fact that Cradley were winning a League title for the first time in 30 years and for many of us it completed a long and painful journey since 1995. Have to admit I'm puzzled by the lack of management activity in filling Jack Kingston's place. There are options out there from what I'm told.
  19. The strangest thing about last night at Kings Lynn is how one reserve gets 0 from 6 rides and the other 4+1 from only 4 rides. There is somehting strange going on there. Apparently Bradley was having a good go last night and looked in the mix in most of his races. I didn;'t go so can't comment beyond that. As far as James is concerned the reason I haven't criticised him for tootling round at the back in some races was that he did pick up an injury earlier in the season. If that has cleared up then I'm afraid the criticism may be deserved. Lets not put any pressure on Layne Cupitt to perform wonders. He's learning the trade and his scores at Lynn haven't been spectacular. I thought we may be playing a game on when averages come into play but his scores suggest he is a 3 pointer for now at least. good luck to him though. I still think the biggest problem is filling Jack Kingston's place. In reality R/R for him away from home gives us 4 reserves in the team.
  20. I think it will be close. Cradley should get a consolation point if nothing else. Its a case of seeing what we can do in heats 13 and 15. I hope Ben Basford gets a few points tonight. I've been impressed with him so far. Signed as a 3 pointer but has done much better than expected.
  21. I wouldn't be too concerned with how he goes at Monmore (as long as he can earn a decent return) . It's everywhere else we seem to have problems with a long tail.
  22. Be interesting to see who makes way. Bradley has some potential and age is on his side but he has had a very difficult introduction to racing in the UK. He has also had a great deal of time out with an injury leading up to his arrival here.James has had his moments around Monmore and put on a couple of very good performances. On his travels though he has struggled (possibly throough injury). My guess is that James will get the nod to stay. One thing we do need to sort out though is Jack Kingston's replacement. We can't carry on with R/R indefinitely. What chance Moggo or Mike Neale?
  23. Signed it. Fingers crossed for you. At Cradley we had over 30,000 sigs and still lost out to the Developers at their 7th attempt (2nd Public Inquiry). Petitions don't carry a huge amount of weight unfortunately. As Pieman72 said you may be best trying to get the Council to zone the land for leisure use but given the application has been made under the current criteria that ship may have already sailed. Best of luck anyway. I would hate to see Brandon go. As a Heathen I had some memorable nights there some great wins and some thumpings! 'Ommer the Developers!
  24. I guess a few controversial comments help to build up the anticipation for the meeting. We've done plenty of it back in the Dan McCormick days and it always but bums on seats (or it would have done if we'd had any!). Should be a close encounter. One or two Heathens owe us a performance after last night.
  25. Well done Heathen 1984 - spot on! Reserves just don't look up to it. All credit to Luke Harris on paid 11.
