  1. It wasn’t meant to be taken seriously.
  2. What do you expect, Australia & New Zealand fought by the side of GB in World War 2. While Bulgaria & Romania fought with the Germans.
  3. Well you’ve won more trophies than Stoke City have in 151 years.
  4. If Osborne finds out about speedway he'll put a Tax on it.
  5. It might have been asked on here before, but do they have to have the same Visa to ride in Poland, Denmark, Sweden or any other members of the EU?
  6. TWK NO!!! You are a 'Geordie' - that is something entirely different. And me born in Elswick just off the Scotswood Road.
  7. Geoff always said he would never race at the Showground as it was to dangerous. Why he did I've never found out. Between 1926 and its closure in 1996 there were 28 competitors killed (14 solo 3 side-car & 12 Midget car). Geoff was the last to be killed there.
  8. It's 40 years today since Geoff Curtis lost his live at the Sydney Showground:- RIP Geoff
  9. The basic flaw with air-fences is that if the bike goes in halfway up & the rider is going into it on the floor they tend to go under it. So you need additional protection behind it.
  10. Ask Luke Priest when he went under the air-fence at Stoke.
  11. Stoke have had an Air-Fence since 2006.
  12. Stoke have had an Air-fence since 2006.
  13. 2013 FIM standards for Track Racing Circuits (STRC) can be found on this link. Para, 079.4.2 Page 11 for Safety barriers for Speedway. http://www.fim-live.com/fileadmin/alfresco/2013-6550003_eng.pdf
  14. In the 1950's when tracks were shutting down due to poor crowds of less than 5,000 to 10,000. In 1959 there were only 9 Teams in the National League & 5 in the Southern League.
  15. Why would Sky want to keep showing Elite League Speedway. In the whole of the Elite League in June & July there where only 5 meetings (out of 46) with both Teams having their own 1-7 racing. June Matches 22 Matches with teams own 7 riders 2 (Aces v Robins & Brummies v Aces) RR 27, Guests 14, Guest reserves 22. Worst culprits Poole – Aces v Pirates RR, Guests 2, Guest Reserve 1 Swindon – Bees v Robins RR, Guests 3, Guest Reserve 1 Poole – Eagles v Poole RR, Guests 2, Guest Reserve 2 July Matches 24 Matches with teams own 7 riders 3 (Aces v Robins, Eagles v Brummies & Panthers v Brummies) RR 24, Guests 15, Guest reserves 11. Worst culprits Wolves – Pirates v Wolves RR, Guests 2, Guest Reserve 1 Aces – Robins v Aces RR, Guests 1, Guest Reserve 1 Is it any wonder that Speedway is not taken seriously by the Media
  16. Been thinking of ways to get rid of Guests & RR( I know it hurts). Put all the riders into a pool( not full of water ). Each Team Manager & Promoter at the beginning of the season decides what averages they would like to use for their 1 to 7 e.g. No 1 - 9.58 No 2 - 8.20 down to No. 7 to meet the points limit. Then say 2 weeks before a meeting they pick riders which have averages on or below this from the pool. Can only use the same rider 5 time at home & 5 times away per season. No guests no RR. Daft isn’t it the whole pool of riders is your team.
  17. Ivan Mauger 1957/58 Wimbledon rubbish then reappears in 1963 onwards
  18. I have to say that was a surprise at Buxton. Buxton 41 Stoke 49well done to all the team & a special well done to Guest Ben Morley.
