  1. I think that the 3 "qualifying!!" meetings we are faced with in the next few days are going to show that the time has now come for this "format" to be re-vamped somehow. Its obvious who the 4 finalists are going to be (Poland, Australia, Denmark and UK) and quite frankly the events this week are purely a money making exercise for the Speedway authorities. One of the suggestions I could make to make the qualifiers a bit more interesting would instead of "jokes" like Latvia being involved, is to have a "Rest of The World" team, which would at least slightly make it a bit more competitive. Bring on the Final next week and get these 3 "practice" meetings out of the way.
  2. Maybe not, but you don't expect a track where World class riders are having to act like rodeo riders just to stay on their bikes and I can't recall ANY GP before having a track so bad that a rider like Freddie just gets catapaulted from his machine when he hasnt made even 1% of a mistake!!! If thats what you want to see, then I fear that you are also deluded!! Most Speedway fans don't give a stuff about all the dancing girls, loud music and flashing lights, they want to see good, passing racing and even when that isn't always possible 'cos of a slick track, at least they want the riders to have a chance to stay on their bikes!!
  3. Utter disgrace of a track and total embarassment for British Speedway. Anyone saying anything different to that is just being a creep and denying the truth.
  4. Terrible news for Emil and thoughts go out to him and his family. Get well soon to Darcy and Nicki too. And yes, Woffenden should have been disqualified in the semi. He had 2 goes at Nicki before he managed to take him off. At least justice was done and Nicki got through to the final and Tai didn't.
  5. Cracking GP which hopefully has put the memory of that totally dire first GP well and truly out of the way. Much kudos to the track prep team (especially after the worrying comments after practise) for giving the riders a chance to pass and stopping the races from being over by the first bend. Whether it was a fluke or whether Olsson has FINALLY realised what is required to create excting and passing racing, remains to be seen though! Well done Emil and congrats to Tai too (shame he's much more an Aussie than a Brit though!! LOL). Championship looks like being wide open this season.
  6. Oh please not I had hoped that we had got rid of (arguably, with the Italian GP round) the most tedious and boring GP of the year already. Lets hope the "rocket" supposidly given by Olsson to the track staff, has had an effect.
  7. Of course he's going to say that because he is a "gater" and it was a "gaters" track, with virtually no chance of passing after the first bend (unless a rider made a big mistake). The meeting was very very poor, virtually totally devoid of any passing or real excitement. I know in your position that you have to "big up" the sport, but PLEASE try to keep a bit of perspective and reality into your comments, every now and then. It won't hurt to admit that not every speedway GP is always great and this one was about as far away from being great as (hopefully!) we will get all season.
  8. Absolutely spot on!!....There was one exciting race all meeting (heat 20) and then immediately the clueless cretins go and ruin the track again for the semi's. I'm SO glad I didnt get up in the middle of the night to witness that procession of a meeting!. Things can (and MUST!!) only get better in the next GP's
  9. Arghh!!!...every silver lining has a cloud, but hopefully after the first GP and Eurosport have been reminded about these 2 shouting clowns, they will get their own commentators in. Excellent news though that the GP's will still be shown live on TV and well done to Eurosport for landing the deal. Its a shame you can't just subscribe to Eurosport and tell SKY to shove it, but to get Eurosport TV you have to have SKY sports too And before anyone says, its no use me subscribing to the Eurosport player, because I live in the middle of nowhere and my broadband connection isnt fast enough to sustain live TV on my computer, without it keep buffering all the time
  10. Spot on.Was a complete waste of nearly 3 hours of my day!....Thats 2 horrendous GP's on the trot now, with about 5 lead changes out of 46 races.
  11. Gonna be between Australia and Denmark. If Darcy is even 85% fit, then the Aussies will win, if he's not, then Denmark have a great chance. Cannot understand how anyone can think Russia will win (I'd love them too though) 'cos they really only have one man who is in the class of at least 3 out of the Aussie and Danish teams.
  12. How come Harris came in for King in heat 18 then?!.....
  13. Absolutely SPOT ON.The shouting and screaming from Pearson is something perhaps that an over excited spectator at the track may do, bit for a so called "professional" commentator, is a complete joke and embarassment.Notice he wasnt screaming and shouting so much as they went over the line in heart 19!!.If you want to see PROFESSIONAL commentators being "biased" but in a classy and grown up way, then just watch the WImbledon Tennis Final. Pearson is an embarassment to all professional commentators, enthusiasm is no excuse for shouting your head off like an inbecile!
