Swindon - Kings Lynn 4.8.16
remembertheracers replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
When home riders consistently miss the starts it is usually because they are not confident in their own track. Away riders are better prepared for the unexpected. Also the ridiculous gap between home meetings does not help. -

Great win for the Aces with poor efforts from Zagar, Nicholls and to a lesser extent Cook. -
Swindon V Lakeside 16/06.

What a sparse crowd tonight. Still no sign of a new stadium going up. Soon be too late for 2017. -

Isn't James Easter the co-promoter as well as league sponsor? He can't be happy with this... -

Weather forecast awful, not much chance this one will go ahead - which would mean no home meeting from June 2 until July 4. Apart from more pot holes in the car park will we see any evidence of the new stadium? -
Sounds like the average punter wont be able to park there. 250 covers the Ambulance(s) riders, track staff, officials, press presumably And a total park availability of less than 1000 cars. Does not sound practical or sustainable. Stadium parking £10? Park and ride costs - who knows, but more than £5 surely.

Alarmingly Low Crowds
remembertheracers replied to remembertheracers's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Matt Ford, Bournemouth Echo, May 27 - “I take everything into consideration and realise crowds are often lower when events are televised, but Monday was our second-lowest attendance in 17 years,” he said. Went to Swindon v King's Lynn on May 18, a nice night, not even cold at Blunsdon! Doubt if the crowd topped 1,000. With its silly rules, irregular meeting dates and riders racing for 3 clubs should we be surprised? -
Matt Ford in his local paper -- “I take everything into consideration and realise crowds are often lower when events are televised, but Monday was our second-lowest attendance in 17 years,” he said. Swindon v King's Lynn last week, looked like less than 1,000 at Blunsdon. Now a bad forecast on BBC from 1pm Monday. Speedway is in deep trouble.

They will do everything possible to wriggle out of building any new stadium. Noticed fires at Blunsdon vintage railway station and near the stadium. We Reading fans do care and are not pointing fingers at Russell or Rossiter but at Gaming International/Stadia UK/Clark Osborne

Swindon - Kings Lynn 19.5.16

The track looked very poor with (as ex Robin Barry Duke implied on the mike) from patches as bald as Ronnie's head to odd areas of grip. Huge differential between Jason Doyle and NKI and the rest in quality, very strung out heats. Still no sign of a new stadium starting and zero news on it, just a bumpier, dirtier car park Crowd figure? Around 1000 and little atmosphere even with Bratch was introduced. Not a good night out. -

Good meeting, Jason Doyle superb. Found a half decent route to J16 of theM4 for the journey home. Also well done to Swindon and the ref for keeping the meeting moving. -
Main Man Rodgers certainly inspired Bomber Harris in Krsko Well he did get on camera at least 5 times, mission accomplished!

They must believe there is going to be a new stadium surely. Hope they can promote the club and add something to the entertainment value. Some might bore some people but put extra things on - cycle speedway lads on the small inside track, majorettes, music that isnt nearly all 70's and 80's based, stop both the centre green and box announcers giving the results.

Spending an hour or so looking at various threads it seems that attendance levels have tumbled this year. Tracks mentioned have included Scunthorpe, Swindon, Coventry, Rye House Raiders and on updates tonight Cradley/Wolverhampton. The Belle Vue debacle, Plymouth's problems and the weather have not helped but is the sport on the verge of imploding? Does anyone have good news to report? Are Glasgow getting their rewards for investment and real promoting?
