Ipswich 2012
Pere Ubon replied to cowboy cookie returns?'s topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'm sure you will correct me if I'm wrong, but I tend to recall that your template for success was to have two riders with an 8.50+ average. Looking at the current Green Sheets only one team, Plymouth, have adopted this policy and they look to be missing out on the play offs. Indeed there are only five other teams that have a rider with an 8.50+ average. Of those Glasgow, Berwick and Rye House again look likely to miss out on the play offs. So out of the six teams that should reach the play offs only two, Workington and Somerset, will have an 8.50+ rider. Which proves that there is more than one way to build for success. -

I think most Ipswich fans would have settled for that. Sadly I reckon his 2012 average is nearer 6, maybe a little lower. -

Good point. However all the Witches scored over seven last night, which once again proves that averages often bear little relationship to what actually happens on the track. -

Sadly 2BH's figures are a little out. Official Green Sheet Averages: 1 Leigh Lanham 6.79 2 Rohan Tungate 6.78 3 Dakota North 6.47 4 Morten Risager 6.26 5 Taylor Poole 6.16 6 Matt Tresarrieu 5.78 7 Cameron Heeps 4.40 So will Leigh spend September trying to get his avearge down? Despite Mick The Muppet's disparaging remarks it looks like old Snackette was bang on the money. -

Vissing In Masters Out
Pere Ubon replied to PremierRebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Whilst I wouldn't disagree that regulations haven't always been applied even handedly, on this occassion I think, as has already been pointed out earlier, the rules are clear. 17.7.2 The initial Declaration may include 2 pairs of “Doubling-Up Riders” and a #8, all of whom at the time of (re)declaration must be in a Premier League Declared 1 - 7. In respect of the former Newport riders, they were not of course in a Premier League Declared 1 - 7 at the start of the season. -
Vissing In Masters Out

As I understand it, both Sedgeman and Masters can continue as double up riders providing their Elite League clubs do not redeclare their line up. -

Marginal I would agree, it really depends how quickly Taylor can recover some form. As for Cameron Heeps, one small advantage in making the suggested change, is that as from 1st September his new average would make him the stronger reserve, and should his injury be a problem, they could then use a Premier League, rather than a National League, guest. -

With the news that Sam Masters has been eased out at the OTA, I provide the following for discussion: Masters 7.55 Lanham 6.71 Tungate 6.65 North 6.64 Risager 5.89 Hart 4.52 Heeps 4.42 Total 42.38 Not suggesting that this action should be taken, and it certainly would be tough on both Tres and Taylor. However I think Ipswich would be stronger as a result. One thing for sure is if they did want to do this, they would need to do so before the new averages come into effect. -

That's good news. But the income received from three Groupon customers is still £5 less than one full paying adult. The only real measure is the size of the.crowd for a non Groupon meeting, and how this has increased pre initiative. -

It will be interesting to see how this Groupon experiment works out. It's certainly a good deal for the fans, but is it so great for speedway? Usually as part of the deal, Groupon retain 50% of the money they take. So four fans get together pay £6 each, which is a superb deal for them. However speedway will get just a net £2.50 each. Now if these fans intended to go anyway, speedway could have nettted a further £10 each. For this type of iniative to succeed it really needs to attract those people who have either never been to speedway before, or who have been lost to the sport....hopefully to return again as full paying customers. -
From what I understand even if the tolls were fully automated, some human supervision is required to cope with any mechanical issues that might arise. Given that I think it likely that the tolls might be suspended. If this is the case the workers should not back down, as they will have the full support of the motoring community.

Late Availability Cardiff Rooms

Agreed. Booked a room for two last night at the Marriott for £109, including breakfast, which I thought was reasonable enough. -

But that was a "proper" test match....run over eighteen heats. Not the watered down version that's used now. -

There must be some serious financial implications, with just two home league fixtures left (in September) to fund five away meetings. Towo meetings in the holidat period of August would have improved cash flow no end. -

It's sadly all too typical of speedway in this country. The BSPA contract should be amended so that riders are committed to race as required between March and October. My brother works in the holiday industry, and takes his vacation once the season is over.
